no I was just talking about death in general. whether that be purposeful, accidental or of natural causes.

So what relevance to that have to the issue at hand? Are you really saying it doesn’t matter that you have a sky high murder rate compared to the rest of the first world because plenty of people die of cancer or heart attacks?

According to reports, the shooter was possibly targeting Hispanics. If the manifesto mentioned in the link below turns out to have been written by the shooter, he was pro-wall, anti-immigrant, anti-Muslim, and against race mixing.

FBI Investigating Possible Manifesto in El Paso Walmart Shooting | Heavy.com

He's from Texas.

You know that's what they are saying but it's not Hispanics who are constantly being accused of being the ones to shop at walmart, it's Trump supporters..

As a matter of fact, one Virginia democrat said the stink of the Trump supporters near the Walmart was palpable.... or something insulting along those lines.

people don't flock to walmart to kill mexicans, they flock thinking of finding poor Republicans.

yes, because the reality is that when you compare all deaths guns ( or violence in general for that matter) really is a small number if I am strictly looking at body count.

If you’re talking about homicides, then that absolutely is not true. In 2017 there were 19,510 homicides of which 14,542 were caused by firearms.

Firearms are overwhelmingly the murder weapon of choice, for obvious reasons.

Of those the one used more often is a hand gun.

Which happens to be the same type of gun that ( in general) has the fewest rounds in a clip.

Ho hum! Same old. Same old. Thoughts and prayers and nothing else. We have become desensitized and complacent and, once again, we will wring our hands and do nothing.
what exactly is supposed to be done?

I think you just summed up very well why America has a murder epidemic and largely doesn’t care. Ok, business can continue as usual I guess..

Talking about gun control which really as I indirectly state above would MAYBE stop a small percentage of gun deaths.

Which is why most civilized countries don’t allow citizens to wander around carrying handguns.
yet, handguns can kill the FEWEST people at one time.

yet, a handgun itself does nothing. I could carry a 45 all day long and nothing would happen until I wanted it to happen.

In 2018, an estimated 40,000 people lost their lives to car crashes – a 1% decline from 2017 (40,231 deaths) and 2016 (40,327 deaths).

Do we restrict the use of Cars because there are people who shouldn't have access to a car?

The POINT IS people are not crying over 40,000 people dying on the roads.
50 million abortions have been performed in the United States since 1973,

Where are the restrictions on Abortion?

And on the day when that person carrying the gun gets super angry and loses their temper, a murder is considerably more likely to ensue than if they grabbed a knife or a stick.

El Paso is about 80% Hispanic, he didn't go to this particular Wal-Mart to target Republicans.

I'm fairly certain if El paso has republicans (who can be of any race) they shop at walmart..

That is a little disingenuous, we do not have a gun loving culture.

You're kidding, right?

CharltonHeston.jpg

People who are determined to hurt others will find a way. Whether its through guns, violence, drunk driving, drug and food contamination, tampering with Halloween candy, or bullying. There are endless ways to maim someone if you wish to.

The desire to bring suffering to others is the problem. Not the medium they utilize for their carnage.

There are endless ways to harvest corn, too. Machines make it a lot more efficient. Firearm proliferation leads to more violence (including suicide) precisely because guns make it easy and convenient to escalate things. So yes, the medium is part of the problem.
