That is a little disingenuous, we do not have a gun loving culture. We have the 2nd Amendment to our Constitution that allows private citizens to possess firearms for lawful reasons. This was a criminal act, by someone bent on murder. 99.9% of firearms in private hands will never be used in a crime.

My point in that it was likely not a resident was that that person may not have realized or have been even less likely to care about how Texas is known for its gun laws.
