More fiscal irresponsibility and smoke and mirrors by the GOP/Trump. The conservatives want free stuff - free money, so they get to save a hundred or two hundred in taxes (if that) and in exchange they are happy for the country to plunge $trillions further into debt.

This why nobody believes any Republican who whines about the deficit because they clearly don't care one whit.

There is tons of bureaucratic waste, ridiculous social programs and entitlements. Giving billions to countries that hate us. Yea, expenditures.

Not really. debt and deficit are not the same thing.
Yes, the debt doubled but the Obama administration at least made an effort to reduce the deficit. Given the deficit increases, without being addressed, Trump will increase the debt dramatically more than Obama did.

There's a big difference between running large deficits because you're in the middle of / coming out of a once-in-a-lifetime recession and running large deficits just because you want to make your voters happy.

It's not unlike the difference between accruing debt for a house or medical school vs accruing debt because you really wanted a Porsche.

Yeah. I don't buy that.
Give me EXACT names of programs and entitlements. Keeping in mind that "they don't benefit me" is not a reasonable justification. Also "it's stupid" is not. You need to convince me that the people who DO benefit from those programs, don't actually need those programs.

Second, The OP'er is basically trashing on conservatives about this topic, yet I highly doubt they were concerned when the same happened under obama. That, my friend, is a double standard on their part.

While I would agree, a country just can't keep racking up debts at insane rates, or even just not place interest in paying them down at any beneficial rate either. Theres bound to be a clashing with this kind of thing in the future.

A boom does help though. More people working = more taxes collected. More people with work invest more into the economy "greasing the wheels". Those effects should help.
