The seven churches in Revelations

Do they still exist? I read a book written by Billy Graham that says they aren't around , but someone said they are still around. This would be great for tourism in Turkey if they were.

Nothing remains of the 7 churches themselves, some of which were probably in private houses.

There is a very good DVD called "In the Footsteps of St Paul" that covers the area where the 7 churches were.

I have been to Turkey and visited several of the seven church's. They are totally gone and modern Muslim Turkey has taken over.
But the descriptions of them in Revelation is of church types, that do exist today. Some say they were church eras and now we are the Laodicean Church. Both are correct.

Note that in each of the church types, there are those people who are Victorious, or Overcomers; that is; over Satan, for God. Work and pray to be one of them!

They still exist spiritually, as TYPES.

Rev 1:12-13
12 And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks;
13 And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.

John saw seven candlesticks while in the Spirit, Jesus standing next to them. That's a Heavenly vision.


Rev 1:19-20
19 Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter;
20 The mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand, and the seven golden candlesticks. The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches: and the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches.

This means there is a Heavenly pattern of the seven candlesticks, and thus the seven Churches. It applies to the seven Messages our Lord Jesus gave them; those Messages are still for ALL Churches today. The candlesticks in Heaven are still in place, even today.

Men's doctrines try to get away from understanding those seven Messages as applied to each Church today. Only two of the seven Jesus had no problem with. Those two should be a pattern for His faithful Churches all the way to the end of this world.

The church in Thyatira has a longer message delivered to it from Jesus Christ than any of the seven churches, although it is interesting to note that the church there is the smallest of the seven, and the city of Thyatira is the smallest of the seven cities.

Thyatira means “sweet perfume of sacrifice” and when you study this word it speaks of a perfume that sends forth its fragrance as the result of bruising, crushing, or breaking.
As we study the message to the church in Thyatira we see that the primary emphasis is upon the Jezebel spirit in that church and the “great tribulation” into which the Lord will cast her in order to judge, break, and purify her.
Most of the ingredients in the holy anointing oil with which the priesthood of Israel was anointed were made fragrant through the process of bruising and crushing. Once the spices were gathered, only as they were pierced and crushed did their fragrance go forth. It is not easy to yield to the crushing and bruising! ..........

What we do have ...is seven continents. And we do know that the entire world will be shaken:


Revelation 6:14
"13 and the stars of the sky fell to the earth like unripe figs dropping from a tree shaken by a great wind. 14 The sky receded like a scroll being rolled up,and every mountain and island was moved from its place. 15 Then the kings of the earth, the nobles, the commanders, the rich, the mighty, and every slave and free man, hid in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains."

And I just woke up from a dream...someone (I won't say who I thought it was) was showing me a vision of the earth, and he was explaining the cloud cover...and all the water that surrounds the earth, and he said something like,"And all that stuff will recede really quickly" and then a very frightening thing happened...I watched everything recede and dissolve and the earth was like a charred...shriveled up ball (like a peach pit), and I couldn't look and turned away....And I remember thinking that some people believe we will be left on the earth, but I was thinking...I don't think so...only those who will be on its desolation for punishment. Then I wondered if this is why all the other planets seem to be desolated, as well...did they experience a similar thing? Anyways, then a thought just entered my head and I wondered how many continents there were...so, naturally,I googled it and this popped up on the screen:

Asia

Africa

Australia

Antarctica

And I had to find a thread...
