The post-flood narrative describes a population explosion with a large genetic base, clearly the result of the large gene pool carried over by seven of the eight survivors.

I fell on the floor laughing when I read this. I had visions of each of the survivors carrying their 'large gene pool' around in a plastic container. I'm still trying to visualise how they used it to populate the world. :)

If the water took 150 days to seep back into the earth and return to the water ways, typically, how much area would the water cover if this was the case?
The water was siphoned off the earth.

But to answer your question as you wrote it: 985,000,000 cubic miles.

Curiosity more than anything, the conclusion doesn't matter too much since I live in questions.
You have an interesting caption, Michael.

"Everything began with a voice ..."

Do you believe God spoke the universe into existence?

Where is all this water supposed to be coming from? It would have to be extra-terrestrial, by definition. If it came from rainfall, that would not affect global sea level rise. I'm assuming most people are familiar with where rain comes from? It is due to evaporation of (mostly) sea water. To cause a global flood, it would have to be preceded by a global fall in sea level, as the rain to cause the flood was evaporated to form the rain that caused the flood! As I've said, this is nothing to do with science, and shouldn't be in the Physics section.

My model has the sea beds rising, moving water onto the land, which at some point will also sink somewhat. The rainfall was just the 'preamble' for the main flood coming in, tide-like, from the seas.

LOL @ the idea of a 'slow moving' flood, but fast enough where someone couldn't have built a raft.
Once the water started rising, even slowly, it would have been too chaotic to gather the material to build a float-worthy raft that was big enough to hold food for a year. And, under those conditions gathering enough food for that duration would seem even less possibile.

If only they had some other sort of floating device available.... like a boat. ;)

Why on Earth would sea beds, all across the planet, start to rise? This is not science. It is pure nonsense.

True. It would have been pandemonium when people realized what was happening.

Lol. So you admit that this thread has nothing to do with science. In which case, why is it in this section?

God often tweaks his creation to accomplish his ends, which includes the science that goes with it.

Of course this thread may be moved to a more appropriate forum.

And you think that would not leave massive evidence?

I think it's patently obvious the absurd lengths creationists must stretch in order for a global flood story to actually work. The flood story is pure mythical fiction, based on earlier flood myths, nothing more.

Sure.

So, can you provide the geological layer where the flood occurred?
