Well the Truth is that Russia interfered with the election in favor of Donald Trump through introducing massive amounts of propaganda to attack Clinton on social media. It would be falsehood to say that's equitable and not a crime. The Democrats would obviously be the one's who have the more reason to be upset.
And since we know that Donald's campaign had several secret meetings with high-ranking Russians, there was certainly reason to believe that they colluded on that propaganda... The fact that Donald's minions often lied about the nature of those meetings (either on their own, or on Donald's orders), added suspicion... as lying often does.
Mueller's investigation would seem to indicate that no, Donald did not collude -- which, with the benefit of 20/20 hindsight, would've been superfluous anyway -- Donald would bring nothing of value to the table that the Russians couldn't obtain through other means.
However, Mueller did note several instances of Donald's attempt to undermine and obstruct the investigation into his Russian dealings... Mueller does not conclusively say that those efforts rise to criminal levels, mainly because they were, by and large, unsuccessful -- thanks in no small part to Donald's own incompetence and the ethics of his minions, who either refused or chose to ignore any orders from him which
they determined were potentially illegal or unethical.
So I will answer it this way. It's the right thing to do, to investigate Russia and it's interference because such interference makes them capable of undermining our elections. And it's also right to investigate why they were helping Trump and if the Trump campaign knew that Russia was helping them.
Investigating foreign governments' attempts to undermine our most important democratic process is
always the right thing to do... contrawise, shrugging our shoulders and saying, "everyone does it," ignoring it, and threatening retribution on those who investigate it are
not the right things to do.
