  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Child sacrifice in America dealt with by heaven

How many if any did he fool?
He was serious. One of the sins he often preached against was smelling alcohol - which he equated with the sin of drunkenness. And in prayer one day he believed God told him to go into a bar and hand out tracts.

How could he obey God - hand out the tracts in the bar - WITHOUT smelling any alcohol?

I guess if people know Jesus and Scripture themselves, they would not be so prone to leaning on people that claim they do.

As long as God has not commanded against it is not a sin, correct?
Do you need a special command not to burn down a friend's house?
So show us that commandment. Until then you are just whistling in the wind.
Explain to us how Jesus did not love the little children? Explain where He ran around ripping babies from the womb? Explain how Jesus wanted us to be mass murderers especially of innocent little babies? Explain to us how Jesus advocated sacrificing babies?

Irrelevant hyperbole. You need to explain how God has commanded against it.

You were asking if there was some special command for some sin.

Actually all I need to do is know Jesus. He is nothing like the child killer you portray. We can disagree. Child sacrifice or the modern name for it is murder.

No, you stated that sin is disobeying God. In order to obey God you need to know what he commands. I want to know the command against abortion.

Again with this red herring trying to distract from your failure to support your point.

The good part of life and all the good things God is doing and all the people getting saved forever.
So are you saying that the world would be as equally wonderful with or without completely preventable child molesters?

Or is this one of those “Hey, pay no mind to the child being molested in the woods, look at the pretty trees all around” diversion instead?

Either way, I don’t see this advancing your cause any...

There is no command not to stick a fork in your eye or not burn down your neighbor's condo building. Nor one about going into a womb and burning or ripping or otherwise murdering a baby.
Some excuse for child sacrifice.

Again with this red herring trying to distract from your failure to support your point.
Why pretend there is some argument? It is as simple as asking if God is some monstrous child hating child murderer. Just because some people are, they seem to think they can paint God that way. No. Sorry. No chance.

Pick any kind of evil crime you like. Of course God will end it all one day and hates evil. Of course there is a lot of wickedness as well as good in the world now. I simply cannot claim that God is a big nutball who doesn't know what He is doing. I assume that all the things we go through and lessons man learns will be valuable in eternity.

Or is this one of those “Hey, pay no mind to the child being molested in the woods, look at the pretty trees all around” diversion instead?
Cheer up, the Judge is coming soon.

Just not as much as a god that would have prevented the suffering of that evil in the first place. I think I would have preferred that god, the loving one, instead.

Or not...

Unless you are claiming these are sins this is just more empty emotive rhetoric.

Nor one about going into a womb and burning or ripping or otherwise murdering a baby.
Some excuse for child sacrifice.

So you admit God has not commanded against it? Ergo it is not a sin?

Why pretend there is some argument? It is as simple as asking if God is some monstrous child hating child murderer. Just because some people are, they seem to think they can paint God that way. No. Sorry. No chance.
Again, this is not relevant to the point under discussion.

He could have prevented man from living at all. try appreciating the good and just be happy and trust Him that He will take over soon enough. I suspect when He comes many will wish He took more time in getting here.

You need to be told if burning your neighbor's house down and stabbing yourself in the eye are sins? Seriously?
So you admit God has not commanded against it? Ergo it is not a sin?
In commanding against murder and child sacrifice that covers it.

You defined sin as "disobedience to God". Don't come complaining because I don't know what your criteria encompasses.

In commanding against murder and child sacrifice that covers it.

It is neither murder nor child sacrifice, so no it does not.

He could have prevented man from living at all.

And with the amount of suffering in the world, there are those who have argued that non existence would have been preferable.

try appreciating the good and just be happy and trust Him that He will take over soon enough.

“Ignore the preventable evils and keep pretending an omnibenelovent god exists” really isn’t my thing. I’m not a head-in-the-sand kind of guy. I’m much more content pointing out gaps in religious logic to those who actually listen.

I suspect when He comes many will wish He took more time in getting here.

Ah, there it is. The “you’ll get yours in the end” line. I always see that when someone doesn’t have actual answers...
