  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What's on your mind?

I'm so tired of living with anxiety. I worry too much and think too much about negative things/things that scare me. My heart beats too fast a lot of the time which is incredibly uncomfortable, and sometimes I feel tense/like I can't sit still. And it's been going on for so long with no hope of getting better.

I first started having these symptoms frequently back in July of 2012, but then I only felt bad in the morning and it wasn't quite every day (I actually had them for a few years before then too, but usually only very rarely and briefly). The following January it all got worse and I haven't had a single anxiety-free day since then. Since then I've been going back and forth between feeling anxious all day and night, feeling anxious all day but not when I was lying in bed at night, and feeling anxious off and on throughout the days and nights. Being excited about something, being sick, or eating certain things appear to trigger it/make it worse. Absolutely nothing relieves my symptoms except getting so distracted by something else that I forget about them, which doesn't happen often. And often they just return once I'm not distracted anymore. It makes everything more difficult.

I've tried practically everything - about every kind of anxiety medication, counseling for a few years, natural stuff, deep breathing, my family, friends, and I have prayed countless times - it's all done nothing to relieve my anxiety. It's just so frustrating and depressing; I could have been accomplishing so much all these years, but instead I'm wasting my young adulthood feeling bad most of the time. :( I just want to feel better and have my life back.

I admit my first round of counseling wasn't very helpful, so I've been trying to get back into it with a different place...but my mom keeps forgetting to make an appointment and my dad is too busy.
Praying for you Multis. I hope things turn around in the near future.:blueheart:

Taylor Davis! She's talented!

I love 2Cellos!

Theres also Piano Guys, some of their stuff is really cool. But I usually prefer movie soundtracks over string covers, something about how they try to use a string for the vocals, and almost always use like the same tin-sounding key for the vocal part.

Time by Hans Zimmer (from Inception) is one of my all-time faves. And Arrival to Earth by Jablonsky (from Transformers) is also just absolutely stellar

I listened to Time just now and it truly gave me chills. The progressive layering ending suddenly with a soft, fading tone was breathtaking.
I love the musical genius of turning an idea into music, in such a way that the listener can feel the meaning. Koji Kando is one of my favorite composers for that reason.

Then there is just high octane fun, such as the guilty gear soundtrack. lol

I hope things will change for the better soon in your life.
Don't dwell too much on the past. Tomorrow is a new day. Jesus loves you. :purpleheart:
I'll admit, I only use it for background noise. :p Sometimes I also put on Jazz with vocals or soft rock; I guess some kind of slow-paced light noise helps me to concentrate.

I like that soundtrack, it's very soothing. :) Occasionally, I also find myself listening to Skillet or the Batman soundtrack while I'm scripting, lol:
Skillet is my favorite band that is currently still playing. :)
I'm not a big fan of the Batman Soundtracks though. :D
This takes the cake as far as string covers for me

That was so intense I couldn't stop watching/listening. ^_^
I don't think I'm familiar with what song they are covering.

Hope y’all are all well! Things aren’t as stressful here, we’re getting by.
I'm glad things are better. :)

If you're a fan of stringed instruments, I'd recommend Vitamin String Quartet and Taylor Davis. They make covers to popular songs and they are awesome!
Awesome! I haven't heard of Taylor Davis before.

One of the bands that often does covers that I like are Gregorian. ^_^ I don't know why my friends say no when I suggest we listen to them.....

The only smooth jazz I listen to is Acoustic Alchemy, but I don't usually classify them as such. When I hear something I like, it doesn't matter what the genre is. My tastes are pretty eclectic.

Skillet's great. Any favorite songs in particular by the band? =)
I would have to relisten to all the songs to be more precice as to which are my favorites. But Invincible was my favorite until I heard them in concert during the Comatose album and at that point they became my favorite band and Whispers in the Dark was my favorite song. At some point Will You Be There was an encouragement to me so it became a favorite.
I wasn’t as impressed with their two albums after Comatose, but I do like the Rise Album quite a bit and I think Fire and Fury is my favorite from that. And I can see how they transitioned in style and skill between those three albums. And so I can appreciate them more now even if a song doesn’t stand out to me. In the past it seemed like more of a big change which I kind of liked how they didn’t keep the same sound between albums.
I’ve been watching their podcast/youtube vlog since Comatose album so I’ve kept up with what the band is up to. I don’t believe they’ve returned to my town in 10 years though. They’ve been doing a lot of international travel as they’ve become more popular.

What are your favorite skillet songs/ albums?

I haven't attended one of their concerts, but do like the Comatose album as well. Their recently released album Unleashed is pretty cool too. Whispers In The Dark has been my favorite Skillet song for awhile, but The Older I Get might be a close second.
I also like Those Nights, Comatose, The Last Night, Monster, Falling in the Black, Not Gonna Die, Back From The Dead, and a couple others. :)

My awful redneck voice = cheerful music. Yeah, right. ^_^

Multifavs and Jennie Amber I believe both graciously once said that I sound like a true Southern gentleman or something to that effect, but ... I don't know, for some reason, I can barely stand hearing my voice played back to my ears. To me, I just somehow sound like one of those hillbilly bro types who always brag about the nonexistent bar fights they have been in.

But while i am on the subject, thank you anyways for seeing it differently, @Multifavs and @SweetCarolina . ^-^

I think you do have a good voice. ;) I bet a lot of people don't like how their voices sound played back to them, I know I've felt that way before. :p

And of course, I was one of those telling you after attending one of your streams the first time that I thought your voice sounded very beautiful and mature. ^_^

I guess it's just a human thing. To tend to look down upon himself/herself in some way more while finding good in others. :)

yes! The progressive layering gives it such a sense of momentum that I find just absolutely addictive.

+1 for Guilty Gear.
