CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hilarious thread. But I don't think anyone here can really claim they have any idea what CERN has been doing or the implications of what CERN has discovered if they aren't actually working there. People are acting like they know everything because they read CERN's official website, or read some article about it on the net. Pretty silly.

Have you read anything on trans-humanism? It's quite interesting. Essentially the ruling elite want to turn the human population into mind controlled cyborgs with no control over our own reproduction. How does that sound for evil?

I can see why it would be perceived that CERN is researching smaller and smaller computers (that could be implanted in humans), but actually that is not exactly the case. They may set out to do that, but what ends up being actually discovered ends up being very different.

Really? Let's discuss this in 20 years. Err, in 10 years or less. Actually, they're very open about their plans. Cybernetics and robotics are going Bio with implants. As for the hidden agendas...you won't find the information in Time Magazine but they aren't hiding anything. Satan runs this world, and some of the conspiracy theories we hear about are true. The difficulty in knowing what's true or not lies in spending the time researching and using logic.

The people you can thank the most for shrinking computers are the Asians; not the Europeans. I'm not aware of a whole lot of bio anything going on at CERN. Organic molecules are large, complicated, and the opposite of particle physics. Although there is some research out there marrying bio and quantum mechanics going on. The whole field of neural nets/machine learning is white hot, and it stems from trying to model the best computer in the world: the human brain. I personally modelled in silicon the brain's neuron synapses firing off, with potassium chloride. It's actually an appreciation of God, and his ability to engineer organisms more sophisticated than we will ever be able to build.

It's a shame Penny Marshall died. I would love to see her remake that show with Cindy Williams. They could have set it in Switzerland and called it Laverne and CERNey.

Oh, be serious. It's a particle physics lab. They do particle physics, just like all of the other particle physics labs that I've worked at or with. I've worked with dozens, probably hundreds, of physicists who also worked at CERN.
