When people are using infrared video equipment and are capturing the bases of mountains 1,200 miles away when the peak of it should have been hidden under 120 miles of globe curve, it's not unreasonable to assume there is no curve.

This literally didn't happen. The video in question wasn't "1,200" miles away. And since you put in the comma, I'm going to assume that wasn't a typo. The video was for 120 miles.
He also doesn't claim to be able to have videoed the base of the mountain. He claims to have captured a portion of the mountain when it shouldn't be visible or mostly not visible.

However analysis shows that he didn't capture anything that wouldn't be visible on a spherical earth.

Awww, gee, thanks for pitying poor ol' us.

Save it. We will be those who are ultimately vindicated. We don't require your pity when it is you who are the confused.

Vindicated? How?

Satellites and human accounts disprove your opinion.

Flat Earth
It's NOT Retarded
___

Far too many people make assumptions about “Flat Earth”. Everything from the model to assuming the matter is closed for discussion. There was a reason Barack Obama once said, “we don't have time for a meeting of the Flat Earth Society”. While the obvious is that he was mocking those who deny human-caused climate change, he also highlighted the fact that determining Earth's shape would take more time than he cared to give .

Is the Earth flat? To determine the answer, it's necessary to consider why we believe the world is a sphere. Is it because boats disappear over the horizon? Because of a lunar eclipse? Because an experiment done long ago which few of us have repeated, says so? Perhaps it's because of NASA's Blue Marble or other similar images? Maybe it's because Americans went to the Moon? Perhaps you remember seeing the curve at a beach? On a commercial flight? Maybe you have a friend who's a pilot and he showed you high altitude footage? Because experts told you it was?? What's your reason or reasons for believing the world is a sphere?

If you have only one reason, how many other things are you this certain of, yet only have one reason to believe is true? For example, do you believe in Bigfoot? Space aliens? Psychic powers? Past life experiences? Near death experiences? Heaven? Hell? Angels? Demons? Giants? Ancient technology? Do people get abducted by space aliens? Is the government hiding space aliens? Ancient astronauts? What proof for any of this do you have?

Does Earth orbit the Sun or does the Sun orbit the Earth? Is the Earth solid with a molten core or is it hollow? Is there land on Earth, hidden from modern maps? Does Eden exist? Was Atlantis real? Was Jesus Christ resurrected from death? Is the Holy Grail real? Do Satanists or Luciferians rule the world? Are there world-wide elite pedophilia rings? Are chemtrails real? Is there a depopulation agenda?

I could go on listing things people believe in. However, I think you get the point. So… Why do you believe the world is a globe, orbiting the Sun? Can your reasons have other explanations than what you currently accept?
___

I'd like to clarify that this thread isn't intended to make or assert the validity of any claims. Instead, it's here to promote discussion, encourage people to question, and correct the incorrect assumption that "it's retarded to think the world is flat" or even to question if it is.

The fact is, people ARE questioning the shape of the world and they have good reasons to do so. While many will inevitably disagree, claiming this multitude of people are ALL poorly educated, (and maybe some, even many are), the fact remains that not ALL are. So... Let's look at why we believe what we do?
Wowza! really? Texas is flat but not the whole earth! Are you sure about that?

Texas could never be flat. Would put the hairspray companies out of business. :)

Just out of curiosity, how do you envision your view being vindicated? Are flat earthers going to perhaps lead an expedition to the edge of the disc and document it? And then all the governments and scientists of the world are going to all say 'Well, looks like you got us. It was flat the entire time! We've been lying about it for 2500 years. Fooled you, huh?'

See post 266.

This is false.

This is false. The record long-distance photograph was taken on a day when atmospheric conditions produced more refraction than normal, that's all. The photograph still looked nothing like what it would have if the earth was flat.

All your "proofs" are false, in fact. You also ignoring unambiguous evidence of a round earth, like the Southern Hemisphere stars, distances between cities, Southern Hemisphere seasons, etc.

This is nonsense too.

All you have is talk. Everything I said was true.

so are the rest of the planets sphere or the moon a sphere or the sun or is it just the earth that is flat?

The earth was a day 1 creation, the planets were a day 4 creation. Why are you mingling the two as if they were the same? That's rather irresponsible.

Is it still open?

Actually, A_Thinker has spent more time than anyone engaging in this subject in a very intelligent and civilized way. After watching the results of those exchanges, it has become crystal clear that no amount of discussion is going to convince FE people of anything.

Not so. I'm convinced that very few of you are curious enough to check it out for themselves.

What you're seeing is justifiable disapproval of people who spread lies.

That, and pity.

And perhaps a reaction to your verbal aggression.

If by 'aggression' you mean I'm right and I know it, sure. But that's only because I am right.

Whoops, forgot to add one.

When you learn the instrument known as the Foucault Pendulum that is designed to move with the rotation of the earth frequently stops and requires an electromagnetic motor to continue motion, it's not unreasonable to assume the earth is not in motion.

Point of interest, sometimes it even goes backwards during solar eclipses, known as the Allais Effect. I suppose that means to globers that the earth reverses direction? Who knows. I'm sure there's a few made-up excuses we can choose from.

Not so. I'm convinced that very few of you are curious enough to check it out for themselves.

You just admitted that the only convincing evidence you have won't be available until after death or Armageddon. That might make sense for abstract spiritual questions, but for something as simple and physical as the shape of the earth, that's a really poor excuse.

Surely if the earth was flat, there would be tons of simple ways to demonstrate it. But your side won't suggest any because you know that they won't support your ideas. Every physical test and experiment that any common person can do proves you wrong, in fact.

Is this really a belief? I always thought the Flat Earth Society was just a joke about what people thought a long time ago?

If the earth was really flat, why is it round? And why are all of the other planets, stars, suns etc round?

Must be fake right?

For the first time, China's Longjiang-2 satellite photographed the entirety of the Moon's far side and the Earth in a single shot, Popular Mechanics reports.

The 16 kilobyte image was downloaded by the Dutch Dwingeloo Radio Telescope over the course of about 20 minutes.

We already received images taken by the satellite of the Moon and Earth back in October. But this new one is the first that shows the Moon in its entirety.

China's Longjiang-2 satellite entered the Moon's orbit in June 2018, alongside its sibling satellite Queqiao. Queqiao has also played a crucial role in China's lunar lander mission, relaying information about China's Chang'e-4's lander since it landed earlier this year.

It lost its twin satellite Longjiang-1 back in May 2018 when it spun off and lost contact with the Chinese National Space Administration back on Earth.

Queqiao and Longjiang-2 are still orbiting the moon, though, so we'll likely see many more stunning images of our closest neighbor in the future.
