  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Are you ignoring what Paul said about the Gospel being taken to the Gentiles in Acts chapter 28?

Are you ignoring what Paul said in Romans 11?

Do you realize that the reference to 3 1/2 years or 42 months is found in numerous places in scripture because it is half of the 7 year Hebrew calendar?
.
For now, I am only interested in the 42 moths mentioned in Revelation 11.
How much of Revelation do you view as fulfilled?

Matthew 24:1
1 And Jesus coming out, departed from the Temple. [Revelation 11:2]
Luke 21:
20 “But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies,
then know that its desolation has come near.[Revelation 18]
24 “And they will fall by the edge of the sword, and be led away captive into all nations. [Revelation 13:10]

And Jerusalem will be trampled<3961> by Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.” [Revelation 11:2]

Revelation 11:
2 and the Court without of the Sanctuary, be Casting-Out!<1544> out-side, and no it thou should be measuring, that it was given to the nations
and the holy City they shall be treading<3961> forty two months.

Revelation 13:10
If any to-captivity into captivity is going away.
If any in sword to be killed, is binding him in sword to be killed.
Here is the endurance and the faith of the saints

That part which deals with the persecution against the church bodies from ancient Asia Minor.

The beginning of chapter 12 is a history lesson, which includes the fall of Satan, and the birth and death of Christ. It also describes Joseph taking the baby Jesus and his mother to Egypt for a time period.

Part of chapter 20 would include those martyred for their faith from the first century, up until the present time.

Those souls seen under the altar, in earlier chapters would also include those believers throughout history.

We are presently awaiting the 7th trumpet, and the judgment of the dead, and the restoration of all things to a state which occurred before the fall.
That would include the present earth either being destroyed or being remade into the New Heavens and the New Earth.

Do you believe the 7th trumpet found in Revelation 11:15 blew during 70AD ?

Do you believe the judgment of the dead found in Revelation 11:18 occurred during 70AD?

I view 1st century Jerusalem as that great City in Revelation 18 and 19......
What about you?

I would be glad to discuss that over on this thread:

Is the GREAT CITY in Revelation symbolizing the LAKE OF FIRE?

Matthew 23:37
Jerusalem, Jerusalem, that art killing the prophets, and stoning those sent unto thee,....
Behold! left desolate to you is your house;
Luke 13:34
Jerusalem, Jerusalem,
that is killing the prophets, and stoning those sent unto her......
35 ‘Behold! your house is being left to you desolate,

2 Corinthians 6:17

wherefore come-forth out of midst of them[Judeans/Judea]!
and be being separated! is saying Lord............

Revelation 14:11

And the Smoke of the tormenting of them is ascending into Ages to-Ages.......
[Luke 16:24-26]

Luke 21:20
Whenever yet may be seeing the Jerusalem surrounded<2124> by war-troops<4760>, then be knowing that come nigh the desolating of Her

Revelation 18:
4 And I heard another voice out of the heaven, saying, 'come forth out of Her, My people, that ye may not partake with her sins, and that ye may not receive of her plagues,
19 And they cast dust upon their heads and cried out, lamenting and mourning, saying "woe! woe! the City, the great, in which are rich all the ones having the ships in the sea out of the preciousness of Her,
that to one hour She was desolated

Revelation 19:3
And a second-time they have declared "allelouia
and the Smoke of Her is ascending into the Ages of the Ages".
Revelation 14:11
And the Smoke of the tormenting of them is ascending into Ages to-Ages.......

Smoke of them and Her ascending forever - Revelation

How do other view these verses? They both show both a people and City and the smoke of them ascending forever and ever.
How do both Amills, Postmills, Premills and others interpret these.
Is it going to be a city that is literally going to be seen by the world burning and smoking forever? Thks for any thoughts and views on this......

Who is symbolizing the "them" here?

Reve 14:11
And the smoke of the tormenting of them is ascending into <Ages of Ages>.
And not they are having rest of Day and of Night, the Ones worshiping the Beast and its image,
or for anyone who receives the mark of its name."....................
eiV <1519> aiwnaV <165> aiwnwn <165>

Who would be the "they" in this verse shouting for joy?

Reve 19:3
and a second time they have declared "Hallelujah"!
and the smoke of Her is ascending into <the Ages of the Ages>"
eiV touV aiwnaV twn <3588> aiwnwn <165>

Do you want to avoid discussing the 70ad Great City/Harlot in Revelation 18 and 19?

No.

We will start with chapter 18.

You have the correct city, but this text is about the modern version.
It is the same city that recently dedicated a modern altar.
It is the same city that now contains a modern parliament building filled with occultic symbols.

Verses 3, and 9, and 23, include "all nations" joining in her sin. That was not the case during 70 AD.

Rev 18:1 And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory.
Rev 18:2 And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.
Rev 18:3 For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.
Rev 18:4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.
Rev 18:5 For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.
Rev 18:6 Reward her even as she rewarded you, and double unto her double according to her works: in the cup which she hath filled fill to her double.
Rev 18:7 How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow.
Rev 18:8 Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her.
Rev 18:9 And the kings of the earth, who have committed fornication and lived deliciously with her, shall bewail her, and lament for her, when they shall see the smoke of her burning,
Rev 18:10 Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come.
Rev 18:11 And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her; for no man buyeth their merchandise any more:
Rev 18:12 The merchandise of gold, and silver, and precious stones, and of pearls, and fine linen, and purple, and silk, and scarlet, and all thyine wood, and all manner vessels of ivory, and all manner vessels of most precious wood, and of brass, and iron, and marble,
Rev 18:13 And cinnamon, and odours, and ointments, and frankincense, and wine, and oil, and fine flour, and wheat, and beasts, and sheep, and horses, and chariots, and slaves, and souls of men.
Rev 18:14 And the fruits that thy soul lusted after are departed from thee, and all things which were dainty and goodly are departed from thee, and thou shalt find them no more at all.
Rev 18:15 The merchants of these things, which were made rich by her, shall stand afar off for the fear of her torment, weeping and wailing,
Rev 18:16 And saying, Alas, alas, that great city, that was clothed in fine linen, and purple, and scarlet, and decked with gold, and precious stones, and pearls!
Rev 18:17 For in one hour so great riches is come to nought. And every shipmaster, and all the company in ships, and sailors, and as many as trade by sea, stood afar off,
Rev 18:18 And cried when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, What city is like unto this great city!
Rev 18:19 And they cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and wailing, saying, Alas, alas, that great city, wherein were made rich all that had ships in the sea by reason of her costliness! for in one hour is she made desolate.
Rev 18:20 Rejoice over her, thou heaven, and ye holy apostles and prophets; for God hath avenged you on her.
Rev 18:21 And a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all.
Rev 18:22 And the voice of harpers, and musicians, and of pipers, and trumpeters, shall be heard no more at all in thee; and no craftsman, of whatsoever craft he be, shall be found any more in thee; and the sound of a millstone shall be heard no more at all in thee;
Rev 18:23 And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived.
Rev 18:24 And in her was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth.

Seeing it as Jerusalem is a good start, and glad we at least agree on that.
I saw it as 70ad Jerusalem the first time I read thru Revelation in 2003 and my conviction of that has never wavered 1 iota and never will.

Not only do I view it as 1st century Jerusalem, but I also view it as the symbolic "lake of fire" and "gehenna" that Jesus spoke about in Matthew 23

Matthew 23:
15 Woe to ye Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! That ye are going about the sea and the dry/xhran <3584> to make one proselyte, and whenever he may be becoming, ye are making him a son of geennhV<1067> twofold-more of ye-selves
33 "Serpents! produce of vipers!
how? ye may be fleeing from the judging of the geennhV <1067>
Revelation 14:11

And the Smoke of the tormenting of them is ascending into Ages to-Ages.......
[Luke 16:24-26]

I think this was perhaps the first thread I started on that [not sure why it was on the GT board LOL]

Is the "GEHENNA" of Matt 23:33 the "LAKE OF FIRE" in Revelation? Poll thread

Ahem, Little Lamb and BABereans!

The Scripture you were discussed has nothing to do with the physical city of Jerusalem in 70 A.D., the so-called churches in the Asia Minor or the modern city of Jerusalem in the Middle East. You guys STILL trying to interpret the numbers in the symbolic book of Revelation as literal so you guys can pin it to some historical events or something you believe have not yet occurred. Carnal minds.

Little Lamb, you need to read again about understanding the numbers in Revelation which you seem to avoid.

Rev 11:8 And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.

Contrary to popular belief, Babylon the Great is NOT the false "world system," it is the false "Religious System" WITHIN God's congregation where our Lord was crucified.

Allow me to explain...

It is that once Great City Jerusalem, gone bad. It is the same once great city that eventually kills the two witnesses (Revelation 11) within her. These two witnesses of Revelation 11 "represent" the true believers who are faithful witnesses in that church. Remember, they are not killed outside of the city in the world, they're killed right on the streets of that same great city, but only after they have finished their Gospel witness or testimony. And again, they were killed by God's own people who resided there. The false prophets, the unfaithful professing Christians who were tortured by their truthful testimony and witness against their disobedience. Babylon, Sodom and Egypt are simply terms to identify this people's spiritual condition.

Now consider the verse wisely:

Revelation 11:7-8
  • "And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.
  • And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.
When the Apostle John, under inspiration of God, called Jerusalem spiritually Sodom and Egypt, He wasn't saying that this was the city of Sodom, or it was the nation Egypt, or it was even physical Jerusalem, rather, He was using these well known biblical references to illustrate the spiritual condition of this "Great City" where Christ was Crucified, and that will kill the two true witnesses of God. Christ was Crucified for HIS PEOPLE which Jersualem represented, not a physical city. Again, it is the congregation Babylon within which these two witnesses resided, and within which they were killed. For example, the congregation that has become spiritually Babylon, full of abominations that will leave it desolate. The congregation that has become spiritually as Sodom was, and spiritually as Egypt was. In other words, it is full of rebellion against God, and abominations that will leave it desolate.

Matthew 10:19-22
  • "But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak.
  • For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you.
  • And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death.
  • And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved."
Brother against brother, just as it was with Cain and Abel, family against family, generation against generation, Christ against the antichrist, the man of God against the man of sin, and the two witnesses will be silenced in this great city. Not as a sign of their defeat, but of the end of that great city as a city of God as a New Testament representation of God's kingdom just like God did with old testament congregation at the Cross. That Great city falls as a great stone. For though the faithful testimony in this congregation is finished, the saints are not hurt nor destroyed because their refuge is the Lord's Holy Mountain.

Babylon, the city of confusion, is a representation of a spiritually bankrupt congregation.

Again, nothing to do with physical city Jerusalem.

Do you realize that many of the richest and most powerful people alive today are moving the nations of the earth toward a one world global government, with modern Jerusalem as its capital?

Was the modern State of Israel created by the United Nations, which is an organization dedicated to the goal of world government?

Speculations. Didn't you read carefully what I said instead of distracting the issues by making speculations about how national Israel was developed or if the modern city of Jerusalem the goal of world government? Come on, Christ did NOT die for physical Jerusalem. You got wrong Jerusalem to begin with.

Speculations.

When many of the most powerful people in the world plainly lay out their intentions, it is not "speculation".

At the end of the following video-clip the woman who almost became president of the United States reveals that she approves of the globalist agenda.

The intentions of the most powerful people in the world and youtube are not mentioned/prophesied in the Bible. THat is a private interpretation and speculation. I go to the Bible and allow it to be it own interpretation. Not youtube or globalist watch garbage.

The "rabbinic literature" also claims Christ is the illegitimate child of Mary and a Roman soldier.
