  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What do you know about the Mueller prosecutors?

I know they've done a very impressive job. Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s team has indicted or gotten guilty pleas from 34 people - the latest being longtime Trump adviser Roger Stone - and three companies in the past year and a half.

The concern would be how they did that impressive job. There seems to be plenty of reason to question their techniques and if they are more interested in arriving at the truth or in getting a conviction.

They all wear halos, and Mueller wears the biggest halo.

They are like buff lifeguards, the ocean lifeguards, who have to be able to swim miles against the tide.

They are America's rescuers.

Mueller is a master at taking down crime organizations. John Gotti, "the Teflon Don", repeatedly dodged convictions, until Mueller got him in his sights. Trump has good reason to be concerned. Mueller is using the same techniques on the Trump organization that he used to get other criminals. And he's already run up an impressive score of bad guys indicted, convicted, or pleading guilty.

And some of them are flipping and providing evidence to get more of them.

None of what we know so far absolutely proves Trump was involved. Far as we know so far, he might just have been a patsy for all the crooked underlings around him.

But we'll know which it was, before too long.

Conversely, there is justifiable concern about those who are dedicated to the expedition of seeking out any potential opportunity to question the Mueller prosecutors and cast aspirations on their work, rather than having any interest in arriving at the truth. To the contrary; I see these efforts as attempts to thwart the truth.

What you've posted certainly does not ignite even a spark of concern for me. For one, I'm familiar with Sidney Powell's own questionable techniques and see the self-serving motives in her repudiation of Mueller's.

Regarding the Mueller investigation, I am looking forward to the conclusion of that report. This anti Trump campaign that is continuing to obstruct any progress in our government needs to come to an end.

Sidney Powell has sufficient experience as an attorney to make her statements believable. I cannot discount them as being purely self-serving. There are some legitimate questions about the methods used by Weissmann and why his convictions were overturned by the courts.

There are also some concerns about the Mueller investigation and its goals. James Comey & Mueller's Investigators are the Real Colluders | National Review

I would hope that we can get to the truth but I have doubts and even worse I believe that if, and that is an if, there is no evidence of impropriety on the part of Trump in all this, those who hate him will continue to hate him and look for new reasons to attack him. It is a certainty that people will believe what they want to believe and what serves their goals. At no time are the liberals going to accept Trump as President and that is a shame because it is a disservice to our country continue the resist at any cost insanity.

He's got quite a few of them so far. And since they were convicted or admitted they were guilty, it's not a guess.

While it would be difficult for him to defend his selection of associates, still it remains that nothing that we know of to this date provides any proof that Trump is guilty of anything other than adverse selection of his associates, and truly a couple of them did nothing more than telling lies. Ironically they could have told the truth and not incriminated themselves or anyone else. We will just have to wait to see what Mueller is able to prove.

While it would be difficult for him to defend his selection of associates,

He's either dangerously trusting of criminals or he's a criminal himself. In the Iran/Contra scandal, Reagan turned out to be guilty of nothing more than bad judgement in the people entrusted to the security of our nation. Hopefully, that's the case with Trump. But we don't know yet. I suspect that Mueller knows, and is just tying up all the lose ends before he makes his report.

still it remains that nothing that we know of to this date provides any proof that Trump is guilty of anything other than adverse selection of his associates,

It looks bad for him, but it could all be circumstantial. He's not helping himself by lying about it; that suggests that he's got reasons to lie.

and truly a couple of them did nothing more than telling lies.

Lying to the FBI about one's contacts with foreign agents is a felony, and should be. As the judge told Flynn, it was a despicable act, to which Flynn agreed.

Ironically they could have told the truth and not incriminated themselves or anyone else.

Which brings up the question of why they decided to commit felonies lying about something that supposedly didn't involve criminal activity.

We will just have to wait to see what Mueller is able to prove.

Yep. Patience.

Pssstt: Louie Gohmert wrote that and Sean was nice enough to put it on his website for more visibility. Shhhh...

Yes, cut from the same ignorant cloth... [staff edit]. Sean is always ready to support wild conspiracy theories... have you ever taken the time to listen to some of gohmerts ramblings? Sorry, just got done listing Hannity's lies on another site...gohmert really is worse in some ways than Hannity if only because his inability to speak coherently, it is interesting that when Trump attacks someone his minions just blindly follow.

What I don't like is people such as Hannity, gohmert, Jordan, and people of their ilk on either side who believe that attacking the person instead of the evidence justifies any consideration. I thought it quite sad how gohmert questioned Strzok ...I'm curious did he ever rail against trumps myriad sexual escapades? I thought it amusing too his exchange with Rosenstein who added after gohmert's non-questioning ramble - "I apologize! I thought you were asking me questions, sir." Then continued to explain the FISA process....

So it isn't a question of differing opinions it is rather a question of motive, substance, evidence, facts, and perceived bias. I thought it also amusing the criticism of Mueller for going after a democrat...and then trying to defend trump's bias charges. I believe that anyone who looks at Mueller's overall record will find an honorable man of integrity doing the job he was given to do...that too was the point of hannity's false claims against Mueller, there is no interest in the truth only in defending the indefensible. So yes, one should question the motives of one who brings claims against another...and so far I recall a trump cabinet member calling Mueller's indictments "incontrovertible."
