well a hint would be that it has something to do with Pelosi and 100K

Yes, Bachman falsly accused Pelosi of spending 100k on booze and was rated ”pants on fire”. Typical political lie, this is pertinent to the discussion how?

Yes the 100K included other things BUT look at what she has spent according to this article. Seems excessive.

Well, the state of the government is not being determined by Melania. Remember, Trump canceled Pelosi's flight because she is a key leader for getting the government running. Not Melania. I couldn't care less where Melania goes.

The last I checked she is also his equal in terms of government position. She is not answerable to his beck and call.

I just checked. Here we are 9 years later and WND is still standing by their reporting, but the "MSM" can't be trusted because they jumped the gun on the Covington story for a whole 4 hours.

Google "Pelosi $100,000 alcohol" and it will be the first hit.

Perhaps if participants of this thread do not actually click on your link, take notice of the date of its publication and align facts accordingly, or read to the conclusion where Michele Bachmann was admonished and declared to have her pants on fire for her sloppy and petty subterfuge, the title alone might have succeeded in serving as a rebuttal to my post. But there's many who are not lazy or naive enough to just trust a link title for an accurate depiction. The article was posted in September, 2010 when Nancy Pelosi was previously serving as the Speaker of the House, and thus entitled to use of military jets, precisely as I explained. It also confirms what I stated about how Pelosi's Republican predecessor, Dennis Hastert of Illinois, used them as well, under a program approved under President George W. Bush.

Yes the errors in that post were pointed out to me and I will admit that I did not read it as carefully as I should have. But there were some undeniable facts beyond the technical error. Never the less I have found a much better article that is much more up to date. Nancy Pelosi Is No Stranger to Extravagant Taxpayer Funded Trips, With One Costing Nearly $200,000

WND is not a news site, and has no journalistic standards.

Indeed. See below.

I wonder if that Red State opinion piece is as heavy on innuendo and lies as the claim about the $100,000 in booze that WND still has up on their website. You know what else they still have up on their website? A bogus story (also spread by Michelle Bachmann) about President Obama's 2010 trip to India costing $2,000,000,000.
Obama's $2 billion India armada - WND - WND

But hey, "the media" jumped the gun on the Covington students and didn't walk it back for five hours so they have zero reliability.:doh::doh:

Yes, it is absolutely just as heavy on innuendo and lies. For example, comparing the costs of a Freshman Congressman, flying commercial to an overseas conference where the "stops" are likely that the commercial flights were not non-stop to a government flight, required because Pelosi is 2nd in line to the Presidency, with the necessary security. In fact, I'd be very interested to hear how much of the "nearly $200,000" was security costs.

no but i did catch the part about the job being up for reappointment by POTUS in the near future, do you think that might be important?

Strange that you expect such a humdrum post to be willing to be as cravenly partisan and spitefully political as the president.

Come on now this has been addressed at least three times now. Once again it was a JOKE. Got it? The whole thread was tongue in cheek humor.

The primary error of the previous post was sloppy reading on your part, which I do appreciate that you've acknowledged. In this one, it's choosing a source that was sloppy. To be a credible and meaningful contributor to a discussion I think you need to present facts that have not had a slapdash butchering from context. We can all make this error at times, but should strive not to.

Did you consider why Mrs. Pelosi, who at that time was the Minority Leader, traveled to Italy and the Ukraine with a congressional delegation the summer of 2015? RedState, which is a political blog that is unabashedly partial to right-wing narratives, neglects to mention these crucial details, instead manipulatively presenting it as though she was on this lavish vacation, which is not only false but the opposite of reality. Did you consider the dates, July 30 to August 6, 2015? That was when Congress had adjourned for their traditional summer recess, the time when its members are at liberty to relax and rejuvenate, but instead Mrs. Pelosi and the Codel opted to work towards strengthening relations with Italy and underscoring the U.S. commitment to the Ukraine at a time when it was desperately needed due to Putin's reprehensible actions.

While in Italy, Mrs. Pelosi and six other Democrats met with officials at the U.S. Naval Forces Europe and Africa Headquarters, and the Allied Joint Forces Command Headquarters for security briefings as well as with Italian government officials in Rome. It's a customary and important part of diplomacy to accept invitations from dignitaries, which is why it was entirely appropriate that Mrs. Pelosi and the delegation met with Italian President Sergio Mattarella, who had just been elected earlier that year, and then-Prime Minister Matteo Renzi to tour the Vatican and dine together. Mr. Trump also toured the Vatican whilst in Italy, which was also proper since that invitation had been extended to him, and it would have been viewed as an insult to have declined.

Mrs. Pelosi and the Codel then traveled to the Ukraine, and again, this was not a pay-to-play excursion. Under Putin's direction, Russia's military intervention in the Ukraine had become increasingly savage. Russia was intimidating and harassing humanitarian aid workers, and silencing dissenters from their country in barbaric ways. Russia had also annexed Crimea the year before, and was tightly controlling access to energy supplies. So there was a lot to discuss.
Ukraine argues for U.S. weapons during Pelosi's visit to Kiev

RedStates presents it as though the $181,587.81 was for a single flight for Mrs. Pelosi, rather than for the total cost of the entire delegation's travel. In an attempt to give perspective on the sum, they repeat The Daily Caller's claim that it costs the same amount to send a student to Harvard for four years. They must not have attended Harvard in recent years or thought to look up the total cost of attendance in 2015, because they're about $90,000 short. But whatever. Next, they state that "for comparison, member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Republican Colorado Sen. Cory Gardner, and his 2015 CODEL trip with multiple stops East Asia cost a total of $26,009.03." They were copycatting The Daily Caller again, but failed to include two important words: "at least." It cost at least that much. I'm reading and responding to this at a super late hour while tired, so I may be mistaken, but from looking at the actual travel documents, that figure appears to be just for the multi-leg airfare for the Armed Forces member accompanying Gardner. They needed to sit together and Gardner flew business class for the longer flights, so it bumped up the costs.

I do think Nancy Pelosi could have and should have traveled more economically at times, but criticisms need to be accurately framed to position and circumstance and not hyperbolized. I also think it's hypocritical to pillory her on the issue while not considering the immense taxpayer-funded travel expenses for Mr. Trump's leisure trips alone. Just the costs of his golf cart rentals have been substantial. He used a full motorcade and presidential parade limousine to travel all of 250 yards from the White House to the Blair House, when President Obama had simply walked across the street to greet visitors staying there.

PS. Apologies to Cow451 for this long post. It's late and I can't sleep again, (but not due to stress this time; I'm still hyper from a fun Friday night, lol.) :)
