  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Any examples where a Bible character did a sin without any consequences?

We know that in the Bible that some sins carry a consequences even when the person repenteded (David) but are there any sins where the person was just straight up forgiven without temporal consequences that you can think of?
Hi sin always has a consequence and it is not always a hand of correction coming form the LORD. Judah slept with Tamar thinking she was a prostitute. This does not describe any consequences coming to Judah. David you brought up and if you read psalm 51 the greatest consequences are going to be in your walk or relationship with the LORD. So say you are in a sin and know it is wrong but continue you in it. Paul says do not quench the Holy Spirit David prayed do not take they holy spirit form me. You see when you get the discipline it is for correction and fear of discipline is not why we should not sin. Jesus said if you love Me you will keep my commandments; no one can serve two masters. Unrepentant sin will be the other master and will cut off your fellowship with God. The correct mental approach is to be in a constant state of repenting and seeking after the things of the LORD> Jesus said to come after Him and fountains of living water would flow out of your innermost being. This is what we need to strive for and to maintain. If you are in a sin and worried about the hammer falling you can choose to repent. The laws of reaping and sowing are true so start sowing good seed and for sure you will reap future blessings and changed your whole destiny. if your sins do bring consequences you should own them and thank God for bringing you back around.

Those are the consequences of a life of sin. We all die. Wow, did you think we all don't die? Or that old people have less sin? Not the case. Sin, Die, then judgment.

The woman caught in adultery comes to mind... John 8:2-11.

Jesus paid the price for our sin so there is no sin without penalty. If we approach sin as without consequences we miss the point. What is the point? Christ is, and the consequence of missing him is a heavy price.

Not that I am aware of, but why do you ask? Sin affects others, why shouldn't it have consequences for us, too? That is part of the teaching process.

God made many exceptions for the sins and weaknesses of men in the OT, man's adulterous nature sexually for one (multiple wives), and man's violent, aggressive and murderous and bloodthirsty nature for another, or extreme hatred of their enemies, and their "killer instincts", and there are others also...

But now, (Acts of the Apostles 17:30), "Truly, these times of ignorance (that those things were wrong or sin) God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent."

The bar has not been lowered but has been raised even higher and harder since back then, which is what I mean by the NC drawing a bigger circle around the OC...

God Bless!

Unless it was all a staged event to test Christ.
She really did commit adultery.

They really did bring her to Him.

He really did forgive her.

Yes, "staged" in the sense that they really were trying to catch Him in error (which of course He could never commit an error; so they never ever caught Him in any error).
