In the US, First Amendment protections of religion and speech exist precisely to protect offensive things.
It's not the laws that are hypocritical, it's always PEOPLE who are.
And you're probably an atheist because of the relentless anti Christian concepts (like naturalism disguised as science) regarding just about anything that has been bestowed upon us "useless eaters" as being the truth.
It's also why i only became a Christian after my life raised serious doubts about what i was taught, and after subsequently seeking truth from a fresh starting point.

You could always just ask, instead of making rambling assumptions.

O they had, but not anymore.
It's still deeply embedded in our modern culture.
Maybe you just haven't noticed it, or it's different in your environment.

One thing that is still deeply embedded on our modern culture is raging homophobia. Maybe you just haven't noticed it, or it's different in your environment.

Well, it's probable, it's not ramblings.
It is very probably that people believe what they have been taught.

Nah, not really.
But according to the social justice warriors and their media platforms it sure is, which was my point.
Maybe you just haven't noticed it, or it's different in your environment.
Yeah, maybe. :)

OK, now it is 'social justice warriors' that you object to? Personally, I am a big fan of justice --- of all varieties not just social.

I'm a big fan of justice too --- of all varieties not just social. In fact, I'm such a fan that I've spent the last 27 years of my life as a social justice and political activist (mainly Native American related).

Thank you for your efforts. Progress is slow, painfully slow, but thanks to people like you it is happening. Do you think that if the Roman Catholic Church and the governments involved would repudiate the Doctrine of Discovery, things might improve?

I guess I'll never understand why some Christians obsess over what kind of sex gay couples have. That's just a little too creepy for me. It's none of my business what goes on behind the closed doors of another consenting adult's bedroom. The love life of other consenting adults is none of my concern.

Gay=Bad
Pork Chops= Good.

Thank you for your kind response, Jack. No, I don't personally think things would improve that much if the Doctrine of Discovery was renounced by the RCC and the governments involved. The United States government is one of those governments and much of the Christian church earlier in American history was responsible too. Many of the American Indian Boarding Schools were owned and operated by Christians. The sole purpose of these boarding schools was to "Save the Man, Kill the Indian" and completely strip Native American children of their culture and heritage. The fact is, both the Doctrine of Discovery and Manifest Destiny are fundamentally part of the racism against Native Americans and other minorities that has plagued America since before its inception. The oppression and subjugation of Native Americans and African-Americans was often hidden behind the banner of Christianity.

Your post reminded me of this event that occurred at Standing Rock two years ago: Clergy repudiate ‘doctrine of discovery’ as hundreds support indigenous rights at Standing Rock. The gesture seemed symbolic and it did nothing to change the ongoing violence and police brutality that was afflicted upon the Native American water protectors and their allies. The violence and police brutality was so horrific that it gained the attention of both Amnesty International and the UN Human Rights Counsel. Here are a couple of other articles about the Doctrine of Discovery copies being burnt at Standing Rock.

Sorry man but a homosexual Atheist has got no place to tell Christians how to run their church.

Yes, there are plenty of Priests and Bishops that have made the news recently running the Church just fine.

Canada’s top court has ruled in favour of denying accreditation to a Christian law school that banned students from having gay sex.

Friday’s ruling against Trinity Western University in British Columbia (BC) was closely watched by both religious freedom and gay rights advocates.

The university made students promise not to have extra-marital or gay sex.

The Supreme Court found that protecting LGBT students from discrimination trumped religious freedom.
Is it a private school? Does it get government funding? If it doesn't the government shouldn't be making social rules for the school. Accreditation should be dependent on academics and licensed teachers.

And hiding what these priests and bishops have done, even protecting them from punishment.

That's your crooked perception, i´m afraid...
Your favourite mouthpieces have probably portrayed it that way.
But it's true. I've seen it in the Christians faith for years. Christians having babies out of wedlock, multiple failed marriages. Drinking and driving , drugs, multiple affairs , multiple abortions , Christians abusing their children and blaming it on them. Since I was a child. But we must freak-out over gay sex, gay marriage or transgender's . But who really cares. The contract would never keep anyone from having sex . It's better to just get rid of it.

And the pig, though it has a divided hoof, does not chew the cud; it is unclean for you. You must not eat their meat or touch their carcasses; they are unclean for you. - God (Leviticus 11). I think God hates people who eat pork too.

Don't forget the lying tongue abomination and the fact that the bible states God hates liars.

You know, if we're going to throw around Old Testament scriptures, then I have one to throw out there too. If we're going to go by what the Old Testament teaches (which I thought the Old Covenant was replaced by the New Covenant), then perhaps we should start stoning women and men who commit adultery. If that's the case, then that's too bad for Donald and Melania AND all the Christians who are guilty of committing that sin themselves. Just think about all those Christians who divorced and remarried and adultery wasn't the reason for their divorce. Shame on them. Tsk... Tsk...

Start casting those stones at those Christians because Jesus said: "I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another woman commits adultery.” (Matt 19:9)

Hmmm... Yes, i agree actually.
They should get rid of it. [EDIT] or... hmm... [/EDIT]
It seems what you describe (which i, as a non-church-goer and not raised Christian nor in a Christian community have not seen) is what you get when you put yourself and your neighbour under the law.
Or maybe they're just Christians in name only, by tradition or peer pressure.
Thanks for the perspective, albeit a gloomy one...

I know Christians who are in their second, third and fourth marriages. If anyone is destroying the sanctity of a tradtional biblical marriage between one woman and one man, it's Christians like that.

That's not true . All Christians / people are full of sin. And lies. It's in the bible. I believe the only true Christian has been Atheist , drug addicts and the list goes on. And they aren't afraid to admit it.

Beware of the No True Scotsman fallacy when discussing the sins and hypocrisy of some Christians because we will always hear, "They aren't 'real Christians'!" It's a very convenient cop-out.
