  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Do you think Christians sin? If so, what common unconfessed sins do you think Jesus forgives?

Yes. Such as in spending time on message forums when they should be on their knees with an open bible.

Did you notice you too were on a message forum?

Oopsy. :)

For example: Do you think lying, or cursing, or porn (lusting), hating, coveting are automatically covered by the blood of Jesus by having a belief alone on Him?
If you think salvation depends upon being sinless or never forgetting to confess sin, you are mistaken. Salvation depends on relationship with God. This starts with repentance and forgiveness. But it must be maintained. One sin won’t kill it. But neglect it enough and what was there is gone. He will do his part. We must do ours.

There's nothing wrong with being on a message forum when God wants you to be. The problem, as i said, is being there when He wants you on your knees, instead, with open bible. Capish?

Except that's "not" what you said.

I did think your post was funny, but it's a bit worrisome too, Ho do you know when
God wants the OP on a message board and when he does not. God didn't indicate to me in any way to be here, I'm just here trying to help get his truth across.
The way I see it is if you have a need to be on your knees with your bible, you should do it, and leave others to do as they see fit.

In short, I guess I'm just trying to say you sounded way over judgmental, but maybe you didn't mean it or are just having one of those days, it happens to the best of us.

Go a little easier on yourself and others, and if you are troubled as you seem to be, or there's something else you'd like to tell us, there are a lot of good listeners here. :)

Would this be lying?
How about cursing?
What about having lustful thoughts?

Have any of us ever remembered every single time we were guilty of those?

I believe what the word teaches.

1. We are dead to sin. Romans 6:2
2. A Christian cannot sin. 1 John 3:9
3. We are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit. Romans 8:9

However, when we read all of Scripture, we see that it is "willful" sin that the apostles are talking about. Some denominations teach that all sin is willful. No, willful sins are sins unto death. But there are sins that are NOT unto death. We find in Leviticus 5:15 that trespasses are not "willful" sins, they are unwittingly committed. So there are imperfections of character or fruit of the Spirit that we commit, but are not knowingly committing a "sin." So what happens to these sins if we don't even know we commit them and cannot name them to repent? 1 John 1:7 talks of walking in the Spirit, but at the end sins are being cleansed. I see those as these trespasses that we don't even know we are committing, and Jesus, our Advocate, cleanses them.

Therefore, when we come to Christ and are baptized with His Spirit, all our past sins are taken out of us - willful sins and trespasses. We are completely cleansed. We don't even have a desire to commit them any more. Jesus frees us from sin. John 8:34-36. And the Spirit empowers us to fulfill the righteous requirements of the law. Some denominations erroneously teach that Jesus blood merely covers our sin, while they are still there. And only when we receive a new body are they taken away. Rubbish! They are confusing the blood of bulls and goats with the blood of Jesus. Jesus' blood is powerful and cleanses us completely - Now! Even the desire is gone.

Trespasses become less and less as we grow in the Holy Spirit, maturing the fruit. As we grow in love, our sensitivity to others grows.
What a good post. This 10000x over. Tragically, many so-called "Christians" are nothing less than unsaved frauds who "come as they are" and leave as they were!

We who are born of the spirit know where we go...and for which purpose. And it's not to live, but to die, so that by the blood of Jesus and Christ raised in us, God is glorified and others are saved. If one looks and behaves like the world then such are worldly. And the love of the Father is not in them.

I am dead to this world. I have total victory over sin through Christ who lives in me. I move on into perfection by the grace of God. But those who love this present world will not receive this.

We are born sinners, because God considered Adam's sin to be the sin of our entire species. But in his mercy, God paid for our sinfulness and also our personal sins in Christ on the cross. He began our salvation process by sending his Holy Spirit into our hearts, making us entirely new sinless creatures, as far as our spirit. But he did not as of yet save our bodies and brains. This will happen on the last day in the resurrection and glorification of our bodies.

So our body (flesh) remains a source of sin until death. And it craves the sin it once enjoyed. But we battle against it because we no longer want to sin. We renew our minds with God's word, and force the flesh to submit. The flesh becomes reluctantly good only because we force it to be.

If we give in and walk after the flesh, we sin. But we need not. We have power in the Holy Spirit to curtail the cravings of the flesh while we renew our minds. And the struggles lessen as we form new good habits. This reconciles John's words "if we say we have no sin we deceive ourselves." With "whoever is born of God cannot sin".

Jesus forgives all of his childrens sins.

Eternally saved and secure by the blood of Christ. What liberation. A man with no chains.

I swear ocassionally, I lust on ocassion. I hate others sometimes.

And yet I do not swear around Christians who would be offended, nor will I have sex before marriage. I offend not my Christian brother, and I obey my God.

And yet for all my sinful habits here I stand justified in the sight of the God of Israel. I have eternal life and am not under a yoke of fear or a yoke of works. I am under love and mercy, grace and truth.

My sins are not unconfessed. I know my sins, and God knows my sins. I am a work in progress and will be until Christ raptures me into his Presence.

What an amazing salvation. What a real and true relationship with God, a true religion based out of love.

You can nip sin in the bud (so to speak) by censoring your thoughts and imaginations. If you do not, you are sinning when you indulge them.

Did he have the Holy Spirit?

The Holy Spirit does not produce that kind of fruit.

Do you think Christ (GOD) can justify sin?
1 Corinthians 2:16 says we have the mind of Christ.
If we have the mind of Christ, then we cannot say we are saved while committing grievous sin on any level because Jesus never justified grievous sin. The evidence of the fruit is examining the tree. The tree would be the belief that moves the person to act either correctly or incorrectly. George exhibited bad fruit because he had a bad belief (or bad tree, i.e. bad mind concept) in regards to sin. He like many here believe that future sin is paid for and that any sin is covered by the blood of Jesus as long as we have a belief alone on Jesus.

However, if folks believe the Bible in when it says that grievous sin can separate a person from GOD, they will not seek to justify sin and think they are saved because the Bible does not teach that. A person cannot exhibit bad fruit if they are following the teaching on not justifying sin in their life and if they are asking the Lord for help to overcome their sin (After they have repented of their sin; Note: "Repent" means to seek forgiveness with the Lord, and the "fruit of repentance" are their good deeds).

Jesus said sin is in the thought realm too.

I wonder what is the greater sin: minor sinful habits, or willfully twisting holy scripture to suit agendas? To strive against the gospel of Christ? To strive against his people? To put yokes on others, as did the Pharisees?

I wonder what is greater: sinful motivations and attitudes or minor sins yet to be rid of? People striving for power, striving to please man. Striving to be holier than others for ego.

Which is greater indeed.

Sin is sin and can be avoided if you love God more than sin.

Can you avoid getting angry when someone cuts you off in traffic? No. You can avoid dwelling on the thoughts and anger though.
