I said that they were the ONLY reason he won the popular vote which is why w have the EC, so that the most populatd states do not run the country.

Funny though, if we removed CA she would have loss the popular vote. That is why we do not elect president by popular vote. The system worked.
Funny though, if we remove Texas Trump would have lost the EC AND the popular vote

The frank answer the cities there and the governor are FAR too PC for me and I do not want them controlling the country which is why we even have the EC, by the way.

The frank answer most of the state is far too conservative for me and I do not want them controlling the country which is why we should eliminate the EC, by the way.

It has so far benefited the Republicans does not mean it always will.

All the Republicans have to do is convince all the Democrats to move out to the country and then populate the largest population centers with good solid American Republican Patriots. Never happen.

There are fifty states for one or two or five to run the country makes no sense. If you wish to live in a state with particular political leeanings you are all free to move as often as we would like.

Yet slavery was a state issue. There were slave states and free states.

Did you peruse the article? The fact that Slaves could not vote meant that the more populous northern states would be able to dominate the federal government. That is why the 3/5ths compromise was instituted.

or we could redo the EC to be like ME and NE do that way we could have it both ways.

Or we should simply have the popular vote as we do for every other elected office in this country.

What makes not a diddly squat of sense is still viewing it as voting as states instead of as people.

If we instituted direct voting instead of state by state then that would not be the case. Each persons vote would count towards the politician of their choice.

no you vote by area so it is not the whole state. For example, when 2016s maps were broken down by district/county there was a heck of a whole more red than blue, as opposed to a state giving all votes to one person.

I know, land area is so much more important than actual number of voters

To repeat every other elected office is determined by the popular vote, except the POTUS. The people of the United States of America should determine who their POTUS is, regardless of what state they live in.

Actually, it makes no difference because since each member of the house for any given state respents roughly the same number of people how spread out those people are does not really matter.

They have the right to vote for whomever they wish. The EC gives third parties actually the best chance of "breaking in".

Yes, people have the right to vote for whomever they wish & 3 million more people exercised that right by voting for Trump's chief opponent.

Uh huh. How many times in our nation's history has that happened? I already know the answer.

I did not say it had happened. I said that it could and the EC is the best chance of it doing so.

Only if you ignore the reality of states populations and how many people their congress critters have in their districts.

If a third party gets enough votes in a state that could mean that neither major parties get the 270 votes needed to be elected.
