Along with the presumption of innocence unless proven guilty (or proven to be a Republican).

In a court of law. This is a job interview. The point is to hire someone without baggage.

But at least we've seen how quickly Kavanaugh comes unglued under pressure... a pity some boys are just so emotional when things don't go their way.

Quickly? Do you think this all just got started today?

Perhaps... but I'll also see Americans voting next November... and so will the Senators who put Kavanaugh on the bench.

True. They'll see me voting for them.

He started off fine, but just couldn't hack it. He put on his brave face as long as he could; I'll give him credit for lasting this long.

That's nothing to be ashamed of; not everyone can handle the stress of an important job like SCOTUS judge. It's a lifetime appointment, after all, that's a lot of pressure for the poor boy.

Perhaps we can find him something a little more suited for his temperament, like a clerk? He can type letters for RBG... and I assume he knows how to make coffee...

That was a nice little feat of back-peddling after originally saying:

What backpedaling? The man is clearly not emotionally stable enough for SCOTUS... thats okay, few men are.

But I'm not totally unsympathetic towards his condition; surely we can find some way to make him feel useful... wouldn't want him to get any more upset.

I'll try to remember that if you ever come here with a story about being falsely accused of trying to rape someone.

Does every defendant in a rape investigation break down like Kavanaugh did? One would think their lawyers would try to prepare them to keep their composure.

Again, Kavanaugh is fragile, more so than the average boy... the good news is that one of the purposes of these hearings is to spot the washouts... the bad news is doing so requires Congress to place doing their jobs above party loyalty.

When a person's life is threatened, along with his wife and children, anyone would have a break in their composure if it goes on long enough. If they didn't, they would be looked at as heartless, and then that would be the fault the liberals would use against him.

Dr. Ford's received death threats, too... tell Kavanaugh to woman up and get a hold of himself.

It's all political spin. If Kavanaugh was completely calm and composed, the people who are now criticizing him for being emotional would have said "He does not even show any anger or emotion towards the accusations that were made against him. If I was accused of a crime that I knew I was innocent of, I would be angry as hell! He must be guilty because otherwise he would have shown anger." It's all politics.

She sounded like she was on the verge of crying through her entire testimony. Is that what you mean by "woman up"?

Surely we can find a middle ground between "completely calm and composed" and the seething pile of paranoia we saw on tv?

Yeah, he could have toned it down some. But let's keep it real. People who don't want him on the court will find fault with him, no matter what he says or does, or no matter what his demeanor is. That is how the political game is played nowadays. No matter what he says or does the GOP is going to spin it one way, and the Dems are going to spin it another.

Sad that he didn't.

As long as we're keeping it real, they didn't have to look very far.

Meanwhile, Dr. Ford is a political pawn in cahoots with the dems who will say or do anything to stop Kavanaugh because they're still steaming over Donald's victory... haven't you heard?

No matter what he says or does the GOP is going to spin it one way, and the Dems are going to spin it another.

True enough...

Oh yeah they did. The Dems literally had nothing on the guy up until two weeks ago, when they decided to leak the letter to attempt to delay the vote past November.

Meanwhile, Dr. Ford is a political pawn in cahoots with the dems who will say or do anything to stop Kavanaugh because they're still steaming over Donald's victory... haven't you heard?
I did not state that and I do not know. But is it possible? Heck yeah.

Could someone have found a person in his social circle and paid her to alter her story to implicate Kavanaugh?

Sure, it sounds crazy, but we have seen politicians illegally sell arms to fund rebel groups in foreign countries, literally break in and burglarize documents from your political opponents, all types of crazy stuff.

I personally would not put anything past these folks.

This is perfectly understandable behavior for a naive inexperienced 15 year old girl.

That’s debatable. Given the inconsistency in her behavior, it’s not “perfectly understandable.”

Another potential problem with her testimony is she recalled hearing the boys laugh, but they turned the music up loud enough to drown any screams by her. To be sure, this paradox may have a rational resolution but none was given by her, and neither was this paradox probed.

Do you have any idea how many innocent people have been prosecuted due to "a good prosecutor's" games?

Do you? Do you have the scientific numbers?
