Bill Cosby Sentenced To At Least 3 Years In State Prison

A judge has sentenced Bill Cosby to three to 10 years in Pennsylvania state prison, five months after a jury found the entertainer guilty of aggravated indecent assault. Cosby will serve at least three years behind bars, after which he would become eligible for supervised release. But there is no guarantee he would be released at that point.

Cosby's prison sentence completes the TV dad's stunning fall from groundbreaking cultural icon to convicted sex offender. Cosby, 81, is the first celebrity to be sent to prison in the #MeToo era.

"Bill Cosby took my beautiful, healthy, young spirit and crushed it. He robbed me of my health and vitality, my open nature, and my trust in myself and others," accuser Andrea Constand wrote in a five-page victim impact statement submitted to the court.

Now, "instead of looking back, I am looking forward to looking forward," she said. "I want to get to the place where the person I was meant to be gets a second chance."

There was initially just the one woman who came forward, then many others did. Several couldn't seek justice on account of the statute of limitations having run out, so they saw this conviction as representing them as well. Hope this gives them a sense of peace.

Actually real peace comes through forgiveness. It is funny how people do not seem to get away with anything in life. We hear about people late in life getting caught and being held accountable for what they did in life. If we want to go to Heaven then our punishment has to be here in this life because there is no punishment for us in the next Other than maybe the loss of rewards that we could have had.

A misunderstanding of how Jesus' teaching on the kingdom inverts and subverts the idea of treasure. Service, humility, kindness, etc are their own rewards, they are their own good. They aren't done for brownie points or an afterlife swag bag.

In the heat of the moment, you've obviously misinterpreted my meaning........................ so let me be more prosaic about it.

I'm sad to know that Bill had these proclivities and that whatever it was that was driving him to do these heinous things earlier on in his life, he didn't get help before he began to "act out" for even the first time. That is what I'm referring to.

But now he has to face the music, and being that I've been familiar with him for such a long time, it does sadden me to see him have to fall hard like this.

Now, if only Hugh Hefner or Bob Guccione would have got their comeuppance in this life, I would have had something to sneer over as well.......................................................................
