Very true, and that is the style of VP Pence.

Obama paraded every shortcoming that he has in his latest speeches--arrogance, egotism, pettiness, etc. But I like it, in a way, because he could have chosen instead to take the route most ex-presidents take and make himself appear to be a distinguished senior statesman who is a cut above the everyday posturing that we associate with, say, Cory Booker, Elizabeth Warren, or Maxine Waters.

I think a lot of people are going to look at obama now, and compared to how we currently have it, see more clearly how it really was back then. And be appalled they were snookered by a smooth-talker. How anyone can sit for his empty boasting and condescending scolding sessions in beyond me.

Pence is just a political stooge. The article says:
US Vice President Mike Pence has criticized former President Barack Obama for breaking with tradition and giving a speech filled with criticism of President Donald Trump. "It was very disappointing to see President Obama break with the tradition of former presidents and become so political and roll out the same tired arguments that he and liberals have made over the last eight years,"

The one who has broken with tradition is Trump. No sitting President has ever been so openly critical of past Presidents. His actions finally pushed Obama and other past Presidents to open up and speak out against him. All living past Presidents have done so.

Pence lies when he said "The truth is, the American people in 2016 rejected the policy and direction of Barack Obama when they elected President Donald Trump." The truth is that the American people didn't elect Trump in 2016, a portion of the American people did vote for him while a majority voted for someone else.

The truth also is that if he acted like a decent person, his approval rating wouldn't be an average of 38%. If he stayed off of Twitter. If he hadn't harped about everybody from our allies to the FBI, his approval rating would probably be closer to 60%.

People just wanted to believe that we could enter into a new era of unity and racial harmony. They wanted to believe it so much that they put aside all the warning signs. Remember that his own Vice-Presidential nominee described him as clean-cut and well-spoken! How antiseptic.

Notice also that Obamas campaign slogans were purposely vague--Hope. Change. Nothing much more than that. He consciously played on the people wanting a new start.

Obama couldn't have gotten to first base without the media oohing and aahing over him rather than asking hard questions about that vague hope and change. I realized it would be hopeless after the vaunted race speech at Constitution Hall in Philadelphia. The press hailed it as a new era of race relations, whereas it was simply fancy rhetorical excuses, projection and empty promises. But even then I couldn't fully foresee how completely sold out the media would become.

As for the substance of obama's latest assertions, I found the following video interesting. Now politicking openly, obama says he deserves credit for what we're seeing in the economy today. That strikes me as odd, because he is on record way back saying that many of the lost jobs "are not coming back," and that it would take a "magic wand" to bring them back.

So the guys at the Council of Economic Advisers looked into Obama's claim, and presented their findings in the Brady Room yesterday.

Aside from the data, which seems pretty dramatic, what I find interesting is the continual grin of this guy's face. He's clearly a happy unit. Apparently it's fun to be a government economist these days.

Obama’s eight years of race baiting as president damaged the culture of America. His presidency was the disappointment. He personally is responsible for laying the groundwork that made the presidency of Trump and White Identity politics possible in the first place.
Identity politics is nevertheless a very effective tool to use to win elections in a racially pluralistic society, and it is now election season in America. Obama has found his niche as the master race baiter of America, and he has been recalled to do what Obama does best

That is what was disappointing. As someone who reached the pinnacle of success and power in America, his message to America could have been “We have arrived!,” The fact that Barrack Hussein Obama could be elected to the highest office of the land leaves the future wide open for literally any citizen. instead, he played into the resentments with such things as his Trayvon comment.

it is not surprising then that he remains in the gutter in his continuing lack of statesmanship as an ex president.

he is a disappointment. Nothing more, nothing less.

Pence is right. It is very inappropriate for President Obama to be doing this, and he is indeed rolling out the same tired arguments. People did indeed reject the same old thing in the election. They did elect Trump per our election policy, which you would be backing, had it gone the way you wanted. This nation does not permit New York and California to elect the President for all of us, hence, the electoral college. Deal with it or get the Constitution amended.

Trump should just keep his mouth shut too. Obama had his time; it's over now, and thanks be to God. Something was really wrong there. I think time will reveal a lot, as it typically does.

Then you have to also say that Trump has been very inappropriate to have been making all of his tired arguments against Obama. You can't have one without the other.
People did indeed reject the same old thing in the election.
That is incorrect. Using your metrics, the people voted for Clinton, not Trump. Three million more. So by your standards the people wanted the same old thing.
They did elect Trump per our election policy, which you would be backing, had it gone the way you wanted.
Trump won the election because no one won the majority of the popular, which may have still gone to Trump depending on just how the electoral numbers fell.
I think time will reveal a lot, as it typically does.
It usually does.

This is just the truth: "The truth is, the American people in 2016 rejected the policy and direction of Barack Obama when they elected President Donald Trump," he said.
Trump lost the popular vote to Hillary Clinton, who is very dislikable, even within her own party. There is no good reason to think that Trump would have beaten Obama.

I used to have a lot of respect for Pence. Wrote about that a lot when I 1st joined here, in fact. He's been a disappointment for a lot of reasons. The criticism of President Obama, a politician, being too political is just asinine to an embarrassing extent.
