I find it interesting how the major YEC organizations do not use Kent Hovind's arguments or theories, yet Kent Hovind is one of the most, if not the most, popular proponent of YEC.

If you're a fan of Kent Hovind, could you explain why?

He introduced many of the arguments for a young earth in ways that were layman friendly. Major YEC organisations like Answers in Genesis are much more thorough and detailed with the arguments.

I think people steer clear of the man, because of his personal issues. But, I have yet to hear anyone outduel him in a debate. He usually leaves the professors that are willing to debate him looking stupid. As far as quick wit, having valid information, and being able to access it, I don't know of anyone on par with him.

We don't know whose ideas are correct. It is easier to choose someone who has a scientific degree than a former high school teacher, if you are trying to gain credibility in the scientific community.

I'm not a "fan". He's personally very ... well, just spending time with him, he comes across in a very easily believable way, if that makes sense. He had a little fun/amusement park kind of experience here for kids that they could play games and go through obstacles and ride things, etc while he used it for object lessons, and demonstrated a lot of his ideas in the science center.

Some of the stuff he presented was intriguing. Some just made me cringe from a scientific standpoint. He produced and put out a lot of material, sometimes for free. He was probably one of the major creationist voices at one time.

I don't have anything against him personally. But there have been better sources. And like I said, some of the theory I'd be wary of.

Kent Hovind is a true man of God, he doesn't sit on the fence. He believes Gods Word as it was spoken, to many so called "Christians" twist the scripture to make them conform to secular Pagan theology and beliefs.

The Bible stands in stark contrast with the mainstream scientific view that everything came form noting. one needs to empty themselves of any vestige of common sense to embrace such an absurd hypothesis.

The scientific method of cause and effect testifies against the theory of evolution, science itself demands that there be a cause to cause an effect. But the evolutionists ignore their own method in order to embrace this most absurd idea.

Kent Hovind, leaves the so called professors and experts speechless when he presents Biblical truth. The Bible is right, that every liar and false witness will be silenced when the truth is revealed.

His recent debates on YouTube have been pretty disastrous for Kent. He sounds like he doesn't put any time into preparing for the debates at all. He says the same one-liners, and even asks his opponents to explain things 'for the audience' when it's obvious he is the one who needs to hear the explanation.

Have you read his dissertation?

I read and watched a mountain of stuff about 15-20 years ago - his as well as that of others on different sides of the issue.

TBH Hovind faded into the background of all the arguments I was considering. He's a likeable and charismatic guy in person. But factors of personality (outside of deep holiness and personal integrity in some areas of discussion) should not be part of evaluating arguments.

Kent already knows all of their arguments off by heart, that's why he asks them to explain to the audience so he can blast them with the truth and expose them as being stupid.

Wasn't Hovind jailed as a tax cheat some years ago?
No, the authorities wanted to silence him because he was exposing the scientific community as frauds, so the framed him and locked him up for 9 years.

I haven't seen Kent Hovind destroying arguments in his post-incarceration debates. He constantly changes the subjects, and he even said Carbon dating is inaccurate because living animals have been dated as being dead for years.

It's impossible to carbon date something alive. The fact Hovind said such a thing shows he doesn't know the process of carbon dating.

Not as a fan of his, but of Yahweh's Unchangeable Word , of Yahweh's Truth Unshakeable, of Yahweh's Testimony of Jesus ,

I liked the vhs tapes years ago someone gave me at the library
which honestly and simply slaughtered the so-called 'competition' easily.

Enjoy the TRUTH, enjoy JESUS, REJOICE IN YAHWEH'S LIFE ! ! jumping for JOY and with PEACE IN JESUS that cannot be shaken by anything worldly, and is not affected by anything corrupt of men or of mankind, even of corrupt religion claiming to be "christian" but is not at all true.

I don't know what your qualifications are, but I dare say you have none in this field. So with all due respect if any, I must dismiss your comment as unfounded and born out of ignorance.

Jackson Coopers comment was completely and well founded. I do not know about his qualifications but I do have qualifications in that field --- BSc (physics cum laude), MSc (nuclear physics), BEd. I will refrain from any comment about either your qualifications or your attitudes. With all due respect if any.

The guy is okay and a very passionate christian but he just puts forwards the same flawed already disproved creationist arguments.

He tends to pick on the easy stuff like Evolution and Carbon dating quite a lot. However there is tons more stuff that suggests the earth is old.

Volcanoes, Meteorites, uranium just a few examples of an old earth. Another problem is that if you buy into a young earth theory you have huge problems when it comes mass extinction evidence. The only evidence of such is the flood in the bible, but that cannot explain every single example of extinction on earth.

A recent find at an ancient hearth in the Jordanian desert found remains of a pita-like flat bread. Carbon-14 dating placed it at just over 14000 years ago. This find is particularly interesting because it shows that humans were making bread from wild grains several thousand years before the domestication of plants and the advent of agriculture.

Only one problem with Carbon-14 dating, it's only accurate to 5000 years. After that, it absolutely useless for accurate dating.

I bet you haven't heard had the courage to deal with the scientific proof for a young earth. I bet you have been indoctrinated to go along with everything they fed you at University and you were threatened never looked outside the box. You have to be a yes man or you will be made an outcast, you're not allowed to think for yourself.

Check this out if you have the courage.

Actually it is good to about 50,000 years.

I bet you haven't heard had the courage to deal with the scientific proof for a young earth.

I have examined that "proof" and found it quite unconvincing.

Bull! Part of my training as a scientist was to be skeptical, very skeptical --- question everything, look at the evidence.
