  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Read the posts in this thread again, it's full of proof.
You're wrong.
The thread is full of supposition and interpolation. Cherry picked verses glued together to arrive at a common , among the proponents, false dichotomy. You see,if those cherry picked falsity's are true, when there is proof the Bible and Jesus said Salvation is eternal and irrevocable, then the antithesis proponents like yourself are first and foremost arguing that The Word, that inspired the words of God that are contained in the Bible, lied. Misspoke. Contradicted himself.

that means to change one's mind regarding that sin, in the sense of having no plans to ever commit it again,
How is determining not to do it again, assuming you did that before, a change of mind.
The thing is, repentance has absolutely nothing to do with sin. That is breaking 10 Commandments.
Jesus Christ put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself.
God does not deal with us according to our sin.
He does not impute sin to us.
We will never become holy by doing our best to stop sin. We will become holy by spending time with Jesus.
Change your mind about that.

1. Do you sin? Yes or No?
2. If you sin, do you repent of your sin asking God to forgive you of your sin?
Yes, I do sin.
You wanted me to say I don't repent.
You are focused on repentance being from sin. It is not.
Each time I sin I thank God He has forgiven me, and I ask for strength not do that sin again.
Colossians 2:13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;
How do you explain Rom 11? Please don't show to other passages to prove you can't lose salvation. Stick with explaining Rom 11 and I'll be happy.
Verse 29 For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.
If you see salvation as a gift of God, you know He will not take it back.
OSAS contradicts free will after we are saved.
,
Do you not believe that if we make a choice that we are subject to the consequences of that choice.
Do you think we can make a choice to choose God and life and then tell God that you didn't like the choice you made.
Be not deceived, God is not mocked.

People just don't understand God's love.
They see a Scripture like
He that loves God will keep His commandments.
And then they interpret it to say
If you aren't keeping the commandments, you must not love God. This is wrong.
If we understand how much God loves us, we would love Him and we would want to do His will.
Children understand this. They don't have to be told that they have to be pleasing to there parents.
When they see the love, they return it.
When adults see that someone loves them, they will normally respond to that love in a positive manner.

Look at the story of Samson and Delilah to see how perverted people use love.
To control and manipulate others, God does not use love in this manner.

And putting this observation under separate cover so as to address it to all Christians here like yourself who argue Salvation is not eternal. What you are actually arguing when assuming that status of Christian, believer, is that you are not in the covenant God's word described and that Jesus died to seal.
The real simple picture that is being painted by such antithesis people is, we're Christian but not.
We are not eternally secure as the scripture says.
John 10:27-29 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. 28I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. 29My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father's hand.

1 John 5:10-13 Whoever believes in the Son of God accepts this testimony. Whoever does not believe God has made him out to be a liar, because they have not believed the testimony God has given about his Son. 11And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. 13I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.

I was wrong! That collection of persons here and in any Christian forum community are not trying to lead those who are Indwelt by the Holy Spirit, who are In Christ, away from our Savior. Because we know that's not possible.
No! They're arguing page after page, forum after forum, that they are not thus. And by any means available including interpolating, rewording for their own purposes, that purpose, the actual Word's inspired words in scripture.
You all are arguing when you identify as Christian that you are not so. That you are not eternally secure. That you are able to return to damnation. That you are able to evict the Holy Spirit. That you are able in your free will to supersede God's predestination for your soul, as scripture says, He knew who would be in him before the creation of the world.
I am so elated! For so long in all my years entering Christian community, I have found in every single one that collective of antithesis persons. They either identify as atheist, or they identify as Christian. And they proceed to insist thread after thread, post after post, for YEARS, that everything the Bible says concerning Salvation, and Jesus' purpose for being not only born into the world, but dying on the cross, is not what the scripture says of it. That eternal life, is not so. That eternal salvation is not so.
That the free will of the individual can un-do everything Jesus did in fulfilling the prophecy for eternal Salvation.Which the scriptures say, is the free gift to the world by God's grace. And Romans 11 tells us, God's gifts and calling, to Salvation, are irrevocable.
Those anti-Gospel individuals who profess Christ in their profile, who say they are Christian, are not hoping to lead Christians to disbelieve!
They're arguing that as a Christian they are not eternally saved! They are not eternally indwelt by God's Holy Spirit. They are not reborn in the spirit. They are not a new Creation. They are not...... secure eternally!

How do we argue them out of that?
When they use the scriptures to affirm that of themselves?

Thank you GOD! I see now.
I hope other sisters and brothers who venture across the Net and encounter the antithesis Christians and their argument concerning the state of their own soul do too. :)

You all aren't trying to lead us away from Christ! You're arguing and insisting on your identity when you claim Christ!

Eternal Security is the doctrine that salvation cannot be lost because it is kept secure by Christ. Since it is not gained by anything we do, it cannot be lost by anything we do. Eternal Security does not mean that we can sin all we want (Rom. 6:1-2) because we have been freed from sin and are set apart for holy use (1 Thess. 4:7).

  • John 10:27-28, “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; 28 and I give eternal life to them, and they shall never perish; and no one shall snatch them out of My hand."
  • 1 John 2:19," They went out from us, but they were not really of us; for if they had been of us, they would have remained with us; but they went out, in order that it might be shown that they all are not of us."
(Contrast with Antinomianism).
The word antinomianism comes from the Greek anti, against, and nomos, law. It is the unbiblical practice of living without regard to the righteousness of God, using God's grace as a license to sin, and trusting grace to cleanse of sin. In other words, since grace is infinite and we are saved by grace, then we can sin all we want and still be saved. It is wrong because even though as Christians we are not under the Law (Rom. 6:14), we still fulfill the Law in the Law of love (Rom. 13:8, 10; Gal. 5:14; 6:2). We are to love God with all our heart, soul, strength, and mind, and our neighbor as ourselves (Luke 10:27) and, thereby, avoid the offense of sin which cost God His only begotten Son. Paul speaks against the concept of antinomianism in Rom. 6:1-2: "Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? May it never be! How shall we who died to sin still live in it?" We are not to use the grace of God as a means of sin. Instead, we are to be controlled by the love of God and in that way bear the fruit of the Holy Spirit (Gal. 5:22-25).

Thess 4:13-17 says nothing about eternal security.

"If you don't believe in eternal security you will lose hope and confidence ..."

That's just not true. You have confidence not because of some doctrine, but because you love Jesus. He is your dearest friend. You are so loved by your Father and you love him and you are secure in his arms.

Even with an earthy father you feel secure because of love, because you know in your heart he will always be there for you. That feeling of security doesn't change the fact that some day his earthly body will die and you will have to manage without him. Even so you are secure in his arms.

So the fact that you can fall away doesn't take away your security if you truly love Jesus.

Matthew 7:15 15"Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.

Not one iota of scripture has ever affirmed what you seek to refute in your remarks. Robots. How absurd.
Jesus Christ is living water. In order to renounce eternal live and irrevocable gift of God the burden of proof is on you!
God's gifts and calling are irrevocable. Without repentance, not able to be rescinded, cancelled.

Show the scripture where that passage in Romans 11:29 is a lie.
Because that is exactly what opponents of eternal salvation, eternal life through Jesus Christ, are insisting as true.

“yet now hath he reconciled in the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and without blemish and unreproveable before him if so be that ye continue in the faith, grounded and stedfast, and not moved away from the hope of the gospel which ye heard, which was preached in all creation under heaven; whereof I Paul was made a minister.”
‭‭Colossians‬ ‭1:22-23‬ ‭

Why does Paul put this stipulation on salvation if it is eternally secure?

Now let’s look at many more examples of how someone can lose their salvation. Let’s start with a prime example of Jesus’ parable the servant and the master.

A faithful, sensible servant is one to whom the master can give the responsibility of managing his other household servants and feeding them. If the master returns and finds that the servant has done a good job, there will be a reward. I tell you the truth, the master will put that servant in charge of all he owns. But what if the servant is evil and thinks, ‘My master won’t be back for a while,’ and he begins beating the other servants, partying, and getting drunk? The master will return unannounced and unexpected, and he will cut the servant to pieces and assign him a place with the hypocrites. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Matthew 24:45-51

The servant is a believer because the master is God. He is a servant of God.

Here’s another prime example.

I am the true grapevine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch of mine that doesn’t produce fruit, and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more. You have already been pruned and purified by the message I have given you. Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me. “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing. Anyone who does not remain in me is thrown away like a useless branch and withers. Such branches are gathered into a pile to be burned.

John 15:1-6

They have been pruned and purified because they produced fruit hence they currently remain in Him. Why is Jesus urging these people who have already been “pruned and purified” to remain in Him if they cannot fall away? He answers that question in verse 6. Anyone who does not remain in Him will be thrown away and burned.

It would serve to read 1 Thessalonians 4.
It grieves the Christian that reads a one who holds to Jesus argues that all that our Savior died for can be rescinded by pure will of man. And shall plum any depths and rework the scriptures in order to argue their own state as not eternally in Christ. Not eternally saved. Not renewed, reborn, a new creation who's sins are eternally forgotten by God the Father, and are eternally covered by the blood of Christ who is the propitiation for the worlds sins, and is an advocate on our behalf with the Father when we sin.
It is troubling and yet, the scriptures forewarn of such and as this is The Words inspired word to the world, it must be understood as also part of His foreknowing. Even though it grieves me.

All of these verses are written for believers. These do not apply to nonbelievers.

A good tree can’t produce bad fruit, and a bad tree can’t produce good fruit. A tree is identified by its fruit. Figs are never gathered from thornbushes, and grapes are not picked from bramble bushes. A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. What you say flows from what is in your heart. “So why do you keep calling me ‘Lord, Lord!’ when you don’t do what I say? I will show you what it’s like when someone comes to me, listens to my teaching, and then follows it. It is like a person building a house who digs deep and lays the foundation on solid rock. When the floodwaters rise and break against that house, it stands firm because it is well built. But anyone who hears and doesn’t obey is like a person who builds a house right on the ground, without a foundation. When the floods sweep down against that house, it will collapse into a heap of ruins.

Luke 6:43-49

What good is it, dear brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but don’t show it by your actions? Can that kind of faith save anyone?

James 2:14

“You say you have faith, for you believe that there is one God. Good for you! Even the demons believe this, and they tremble in terror. How foolish! Can’t you see that faith without good deeds is useless?”

James 2:19-20

So you see, faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless.

James 2:17

Don’t you remember that our ancestor Abraham was shown to be right with God by his actions when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? You see, his faith and his actions worked together. His actions made his faith complete. And so it happened just as the Scriptures say: “Abraham believed God, and God counted him as righteous because of his faith.” He was even called the friend of God. So you see, we are shown to be right with God by what we do, not by faith alone.

James 2:21-24

Rahab the prostitute is another example. She was shown to be right with God by her actions when she hid those messengers and sent them safely away by a different road. Just as the body is dead without breath, so also faith is dead without good works.

James 2:25-26

Anyone who isn’t with me opposes me, and anyone who isn’t working with me is actually working against me. “So I tell you, every sin and blasphemy can be forgiven—except blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, which will never be forgiven. Anyone who speaks against the Son of Man can be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven, either in this world or in the world to come. “A tree is identified by its fruit. If a tree is good, its fruit will be good. If a tree is bad, its fruit will be bad. You brood of snakes! How could evil men like you speak what is good and right? For whatever is in your heart determines what you say. A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. And I tell you this, you must give an account on judgment day for every idle word you speak. The words you say will either acquit you or condemn you.

Matthew 12:30-37

Beware of false prophets who come disguised as harmless sheep but are really vicious wolves. You can identify them by their fruit, that is, by the way they act. Can you pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? A good tree produces good fruit, and a bad tree produces bad fruit. A good tree can’t produce bad fruit, and a bad tree can’t produce good fruit. So every tree that does not produce good fruit is chopped down and thrown into the fire. Yes, just as you can identify a tree by its fruit, so you can identify people by their actions.

Matthew 7:15-20

Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock. But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn’t obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand. When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash.

Matthew 7:24-27

John 15:1-6

When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.

Galatians 5:19-21

Even now the ax of God’s judgment is poised, ready to sever the roots of the trees. Yes, every tree that does not produce good fruit will be chopped down and thrown into the fire.

Matthew 3:10

Let them be blotted out of the book of life, And not be written with the righteous.

Psalms 69:28

I saw the dead, both great and small, standing before God’s throne. And the books were opened, including the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to what they had done, as recorded in the books. The sea gave up its dead, and death and the grave gave up their dead. And all were judged according to their deeds. Then death and the grave were thrown into the lake of fire. This lake of fire is the second death. And anyone whose name was not found recorded in the Book of Life was thrown into the lake of fire.

Revelation 20:12-15

Nothing evil will be allowed to enter, nor anyone who practices shameful idolatry and dishonesty—but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.

Revelation 21:27

For the Kingdom of God is not just a lot of talk; it is living by God’s power.

1 Corinthians 4:20

I tell you, the Kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a nation that will produce the proper fruit.

Matthew 21:43

But Jesus told him, “Anyone who puts a hand to the plow and then looks back is not fit for the Kingdom of God.

Luke 9:62

Let there be no sexual immorality, impurity, or greed among you. Such sins have no place among God’s people. Obscene stories, foolish talk, and coarse jokes—these are not for you. Instead, let there be thankfulness to God. You can be sure that no immoral, impure, or greedy person will inherit the Kingdom of Christ and of God. For a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world. Don’t be fooled by those who try to excuse these sins, for the anger of God will fall on all who disobey him.

Ephesians 5:3-6

But when the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit upon his glorious throne. All the nations will be gathered in his presence, and he will separate the people as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will place the sheep at his right hand and the goats at his left. “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the creation of the world. For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home. I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me.’ “Then these righteous ones will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink? Or a stranger and show you hospitality? Or naked and give you clothing? When did we ever see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ “And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!’ “Then the King will turn to those on the left and say, ‘Away with you, you cursed ones, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his demons. For I was hungry, and you didn’t feed me. I was thirsty, and you didn’t give me a drink. I was a stranger, and you didn’t invite me into your home. I was naked, and you didn’t give me clothing. I was sick and in prison, and you didn’t visit me.’ “Then they will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and not help you?’ “And he will answer, ‘I tell you the truth, when you refused to help the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were refusing to help me.’ “And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous will go into eternal life.

Matthew 25:31-46

Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like a fishing net that was thrown into the water and caught fish of every kind. When the net was full, they dragged it up onto the shore, sat down, and sorted the good fish into crates, but threw the bad ones away. That is the way it will be at the end of the world. The angels will come and separate the wicked people from the righteous, throwing the wicked into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Matthew 13:47-50

Jesus replied, “The Son of Man is the farmer who plants the good seed. The field is the world, and the good seed represents the people of the Kingdom. The weeds are the people who belong to the evil one. The enemy who planted the weeds among the wheat is the devil. The harvest is the end of the world, and the harvesters are the angels. “Just as the weeds are sorted out and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of the world. The Son of Man will send his angels, and they will remove from his Kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil. And the angels will throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Then the righteous will shine like the sun in their Father’s Kingdom. Anyone with ears to hear should listen and understand!

Matthew 13:37-43

All who are victorious will inherit all these blessings, and I will be their God, and they will be my children. “But cowards, unbelievers, the corrupt, murderers, the immoral, those who practice witchcraft, idol worshipers, and all liars—their fate is in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.

Revelation 21:7-8

Then he said, “I tell you the truth, unless you turn from your sins and become like little children, you will never get into the Kingdom of Heaven. So anyone who becomes as humble as this little child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven. “And anyone who welcomes a little child like this on my behalf is welcoming me. But if you cause one of these little ones who trusts in me to fall into sin, it would be better for you to have a large millstone tied around your neck and be drowned in the depths of the sea. “What sorrow awaits the world, because it tempts people to sin. Temptations are inevitable, but what sorrow awaits the person who does the tempting. So if your hand or foot causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It’s better to enter eternal life with only one hand or one foot than to be thrown into eternal fire with both of your hands and feet. And if your eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It’s better to enter eternal life with only one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into the fire of hell.

There is also the question do you follow Christ’s example and do you produce fruit? My sheep hear My voice, I know them, and they follow me. A tree that does not produce fruit will be chopped down and thrown into the fire.
Yes, you are correct. Most take the verses after John 10:27 out of context stating that the sheep can never be plucked out of the Father's hand, however as you point out, eternal life is only promised to those sheep who "hear" and "follow." Sheep who disobey do not have the assurances of vs. 28-29.

All of these verses are written for believers. These do not apply to nonbelievers.
I'll save bandwidth and space to reply to this only.
You appear to be in the wrong thread or are confused as to the topic under discussion.
Eternal Security is Gospel.
That pertains to and among believers.
Non-Believers are not relevant being they are non-Believers.
I hope that assists you to find the proper thread for your lengthy discourse.

Yes, you are correct. Most take the verses after John 10:27 out of context stating that the sheep can never be plucked out of the Father's hand, however as you point out, eternal life is only promised to those sheep who "hear" and "follow." Sheep who disobey do not have the assurances of vs. 28-29.

AMEN!! Thank you brother :)

BOTH. We cannot overcome the power of sin in our own strength.

Repentance (metanoia) is a turning away from our old life and sin and turning to God and becoming a new creation who is devoted to pleasing God.

As I stated all the verses I posted are for believers and warnings of what not to do so that they will not lose their salvation.
You are sharing your own testimony as you believe you can lose your Salvation.

You do not speak to all Christians. Because God the Father almighty has done this. The Word delivered the word and it does not tell us we are under the law, or that works save, or that works secure our Salvation.
You are delivering your personal testimony as to how you believe. And you're using the scriptures out of context and improperly to affirm that idea.
2 Timothy 2:13 If we are faithless, he remains faithful, for he cannot disown himself.

Ephesians 1:13 And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit,

Ephesians 4:30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

John 10:28-30 I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. 29My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father's hand. 30I and the Father are one."

John 6:37-40 All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away. 38For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me. 39And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all those he has given me, but raise them up at the last day. 40For my Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day."

OSAS was not taught by the early church fathers. They actually taught the opposite. Many people misunderstand that the verses that they think support OSAS are actually referring to outside forces that cannot take someone’s salvation away. They don’t say that the person themselves cannot turn away from God and lose their salvation.

Matthew 5:17-18 means that Jesus Christ came the first time not to abolish the prophecies in the Mosaic law and the Old Testament prophets regarding the Messiah's/the Christ's first coming, but to fulfill all those prophecies (Luke 24:44-48; e.g. Acts 3:22-26, Isaiah 53). Matthew 5:17-18 cannot mean that Jesus came not to abolish the letter of the commandments of the Old Covenant Mosaic law, for He did come to do that, on the Cross (Ephesians 2:15-16, Colossians 2:14-17, Romans 7:6; 2 Corinthians 3:6-18, Hebrews 7:18-19). Also, Matthew 5:17-18 cannot mean that Jesus came to fulfill the letter of all of the Old Covenant Mosaic law's commandments, for He could not possibly have done that. For example, some of those commandments applied only to women after childbirth (Leviticus 12:4-8), or to wives suspected of adultery by their husbands (Numbers 5:19-31).

As the Christ (Matthew 5:17, Luke 24:44-46), the mediator of the New Covenant (Matthew 26:28, Hebrews 12:24, Hebrews 7:22, Hebrews 8:6-9), Jesus had the divine authority to contradict the letter of the Old Covenant Mosaic law's commandments and replace them with His own, even better, New Covenant commandments (Matthew 5:38-44, Matthew 19:7-9, John 8:5-7), such as those He gave in the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5:19 to 7:29) and in the epistles of the apostle Paul (1 Corinthians 14:37; 1 Thessalonians 4:2). And as the Christ, Jesus had the divine authority to allow His disciples to break the letter of the Old Covenant Mosaic law's commandments (Matthew 12:1-8).

-

On Jesus Christ's Cross, for both Jews and Gentiles (John 11:51-52), of all times, the letter of the Old Covenant Mosaic law was completely and forever abolished (Ephesians 2:15-16, Colossians 2:14-17; 2 Corinthians 3:6-18), disannulled (Hebrews 7:18), rendered obsolete (Hebrews 8:13, Galatians 3:2-25, Galatians 4:21 to 5:8), taken away and replaced (Hebrews 10:9) by the better hope (Hebrews 7:19), the better covenant (Hebrews 7:22, Hebrews 8:6-12), the second covenant (Hebrews 8:7, Hebrews 10:9), of Jesus' New Covenant law (Galatians 6:2, John 1:17, Matthew 26:28, Hebrews 12:24, Hebrews 9:15), so that the law was changed (Hebrews 7:12).

All Christians, whether Jews or Gentles, of all times, are delivered from the letter of the Old Covenant Mosaic law, and should not keep it (Romans 7:6; 2 Corinthians 3:6-18, Galatians 2:11-21), or have any desire to keep it (Galatians 4:21 to 5:8, Galatians 3:2-25). Christians keep the spirit of the Old Covenant Mosaic law (Romans 7:6) by loving others (Galatians 5:14, Romans 13:8-10), by doing to others as they would have others do to them (Matthew 7:12).

The New Covenant is a new law (Hebrews 7:12,18-19, Hebrews 10:1-23), consisting of Jesus Christ's New Covenant/New Testament commandments (John 14:15), such as those which He gave in the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5:19 to 7:29), and in the epistles of the apostle Paul (1 Corinthians 14:37). These commandments exceed in righteousness the abolished letter of the Old Covenant Mosaic law (Matthew 5:20-48). So there is no reason for any Christian to ever want to go back under the letter of the Old Covenant Mosaic law (Galatians 3:2 to 5:26). It was just a temporary schoolmaster (Galatians 3:24-25), a temporary shadow (Colossians 2:16-17), which God set up because of sins long after He had set up the original promise of the Abrahamic Covenant, and long before He brought this promise to fulfillment in Jesus' New Covenant (Galatians 3:16-29, Matthew 26:28).

The letter of the Old Covenant Mosaic law has been made obsolete by the New Covenant (Hebrews 8:13). For example, the letter of the Old Covenant Mosaic law required an Aaronic priesthood (Exodus 30:30), while the New Covenant replaced the Aaronic priesthood with the Melchisedechian priesthood (Hebrews 7:11-28). And the letter of the Old Covenant Mosaic law required animal sacrifices for sin (Leviticus 23:19), while the New Covenant replaced these with the one-time sacrifice of Jesus Christ Himself on the Cross (Hebrews 10).

The letter of the Old Covenant Mosaic law is the Hagar to the New Covenant's Sarah (Galatians 4:21-25). So those people, whether Jews or Gentiles, who try to keep the letter of the Old Covenant Mosaic law are like Ishmael, Abraham's son by a bondmaid (Galatians 4:22), who was cast out (Galatians 4:30), while those people, whether Jews or Gentiles, who keep the New Covenant are like Isaac (Galatians 4:28), Abraham's son by a freewoman (Galatians 4:22,31), who became his heir (Galatians 4:30b).

The letter of the Old Covenant Mosaic law, including the letter of its Ten Commandments, written and engraven in stones (2 Corinthians 3:7, Deuteronomy 4:13, Deuteronomy 27:8), was the ministration of death and condemnation (2 Corinthians 3:7,9). For example, see Leviticus 20:10, Exodus 31:14, and Numbers 15:32-36; and contrast these with the New Covenant's John 8:4-11 and Matthew 12:1-8.

The letter of the Old Covenant Mosaic law has been completely and forever done away (2 Corinthians 3:11), abolished (2 Corinthians 3:13b). But it is still able to spiritually blind some people as with a veil from beholding Jesus Christ (2 Corinthians 3:14-16), while the New Covenant is the ministration of the Spirit and righteousness (2 Corinthians 3:6,8-9b), which remains (2 Corinthians 3:11b), and which permits Christians to remove the veil, and to behold Jesus (2 Corinthians 3:16-18, Mark 15:38, Hebrews 7:18-19, Ephesians 2:15-18, Colossians 2:14-17).

But a mistaken spirit of Pharisaism can still sometimes deceive even some Christians into thinking that they must keep the letter of the Old Covenant Mosaic law in order to be saved from hell (Acts 15:1,5), or in order to become perfect (Galatians 3:2 to 5:26). This is a false, cursed gospel (Galatians 1:6-9). For if any Christians are keeping any part of the letter of the Old Covenant Mosaic law thinking that they must do so in order to be saved from hell, or in order to become perfect, then Jesus Christ will profit them nothing. They have fallen from grace (Galatians 5:2-8).
Romans 13:9, For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. Hebrews 8:10, For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: 1 John 5:2-3, By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

So God needs our help in making us a new creation?
No, He does not need our help, all He requires is our consent.
Then we become a new creation, and we walk in that new found identity.

He requires our obedience. Look up the Greek word pistis which is the word translated to faith. Pistis is not only believing but also faithfulness and fidelity.
