Anytime, Netgear..... Show me scripture that describes a spinning ball, orbiting the sun and moving through space...

And what did ancient man think lightning was? What an eclipse was? What a shooting star was? What a thunderbolt was? What a rainbow was etc etc.....

They thought of them quite differently to what we know they are. They thought they were all mysterious and came with warnings and were from some mythical story etc.

As I explained, before, ships and other vessels and objects are seen clearly visible far beyond the point where they should be visible at all.

The earth should curve at a rate that is easily visible and testable... yet, even on the small lake that I grew up on... it is not detectable to the degree that it should be...

Jack. Look. I am not going to keep going back with you on this topic. God wants us to primarily focus on preaching the gospel. The full gospel.

May you find the truth on this topic;
And may God's love and peace be with you today.

With loving kindess to you in Christ,

Sincerely,

~ Jason.

Jack:

If you want to escape (or a little time away from it all), instead of indulging in Flat Earth speculation, I would recommend watching these Christian films (Which deals with the truth and good news of God's Word).

What Christian Movies Do You Find To Be The Most Rewatchable?

May God bless you today.

Sincerely,

~ Jason.

Yes; Solar eclipses have been predicted in the past, but not to the accuracy that we have today with a computer based upon the heliocentric model. However, you need to take note that there are other predictions that were exclusively made by the Heliocentric model alone.

Read this article here:

Heliocentric Theory - The Triumph Of The Heliocentric Theory
http://science.jrank.org/pages/3276/Heliocentric-Theory-triumph-heliocentric-theory.html

So, your proof of them using heliocentric math is based on the fact that 2000 years ago they could only calculate the event within minutes instead of seconds... wow... how can I compete with that?

I believe they are scam artists. Why? Because they are not real Scientists who have been peer reviewed. Did you test their statements? Did you actually use a laser over water to test to see if the Earth was flat or that it curved?

Check the math... anywhere.... 8 inches times the distance, in miles, squared.. that should be easily measured and observable... Instead of depending on everyone else... test it yourself. There are loads of places where you can "find the curve" .........if it is there...

Good luck.

As I said, this is one thing, for me that absolutely does not show as being real.

I understand you have issues with these things. But there is no plausible evidence as to why NASA, satellite companies, folks living in the South pole would all be in on some kind of cover up. However, it is not normal to simply distrust people en masse without a good reason or cause.
Plausible evidence or reasons as to why?

The simple reason is that the Darwinian, evolutionary, atheistic model must be protected at all costs.
Not only is this Satan's plan but it is the model that allows trillions of dollars of tax payer money to be collected. All the while perpetuating the "life on other planets" and "alien" of higher intelligence scenario...

Why? Maybe it is because that is where magnetic North is. It is at the top of our spherical Earth.

Magnetic North is where it is.... no matter if it is a globe or a flat earth model. No needle points to the south... the needle points north... the other end of the needle points south because that is the way the straight needle must point as it is a straight piece of metal.

It is not proof alone. However, it is one but one link in a chain of evidences that proves the Earth is a sphere.... yes.
Not really. All maps being drawn with north up, is proof of nothing. It's just an adopted standard.

You are contradicting yourself here.
Actually, I'm not..
Let me use more words, in order to clarify.. North being at the top of a map may be used due to the belief in the globe earth.... The earth is not a globe because the maps are drawn with north up...

Does this make it easier to understand?

Okay. Just stop. Don't talk about this anymore and test it for yourself. It does no good to just hit the disagree button. Prove to yourself that the FE proponent's findings are true or not. I don't need to do that personally because I know they are lying. But apparently you believe what they say as if it was truth. I say.... test what they are saying. They are not real Scientists. They are among those who are into spiritism, and atheism, and socialism.

I'll stop if you can show math that states any different numbers and charts than the universally accepted and correct 8 inches per mile squared....

Attention. They want to be noticed. They want to feel like their life matters. But FE is not going to give them that comfort. Only standing up for Jesus and His righteousness is what will give a person true peace and comfort.

I remember a guy in middle school who used to put paper signs on his own back that said, "Kick me." Why would he do this? To get attention of course.

Of course... people, like Rob Skiba, who was already famous and making money off of his books..... adopted the FE view, went public, lost all his sponsors, speaking engagements and credibility... because.... he wanted attention?

Seriously? Taking a view as controversial as this one is not done for attention...Especially not when it will ruin your career.

But... nice try.. too bad it's water cooler psychology and holds no water.

Escape from reality. Have you never watched a Science fiction film or TV show to escape and get your mind off the harsh reality of the world? I know I have. I used to be a big Science fiction fan. But 1 John 2:15-17 always bothered me when I read it. In time, I gave up watching secular movies because of my love for Jesus. We are told not to love the world, and neither things in the world.

So, now they believe in order to escape from reality? More water cooler physiology and just as valid as before.

It would mean that we have to admit defeat that un-Christian men can be right about certain things (like Science, technology, architecture, etc.). That does not mean their heart is right with God, though. They can only testify to the things that they see physically. But the Word of God is a closed book to them unless they repent and accept Jesus as their Savior.

So, unchristian men, in science, technology etc.... are your go to, even if there is no proof for their presentation of reality?

What did God say that would happen to the wisdom of man?

1 Corinthians 3:19 King James Version (KJV)

19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.

Accepting the globe Earth model is about trust to a certain degree. They would have to admit that NASA was not lying about everything and people in other parts of the world are not lying about the stars or the sun. But people like a good conspiracy theory (even if it does harm to others). Imagine if your next door neighbor started to make up a conspiracy theory about you and your family. They could say nasty things about you and your family that were not true. They could base this off of things they thought you were doing so as to fill in the blanks. They could draw the wrong conclusions... all because of a conspiracy theory.

Your point?

You cannot watch FE videos to get this distortion on NASA. That is where you are going wrong here. You are buying into the FE Kool aid whereby they are only going to show you an skewed point of view.

Actually, like I have said, I'm not totally sold on the FE view... The whole fake NASA is a totally different ball game.. I am 100% sure that we did not go to the moon or that we can go out further than low earth orbit.... 100%...

This is just one piece in the whole chipping away at what we have been told to be truth.

It is not needed to be connected to FE. Many do not believe the FE but know that NASA is a fraud.

The earth is not flat. Science proves that. Even a 5 yr old knows the earth is round.

Scripture is deeper that merely words written on paper.
Of course.. just ask any 5 year old. Still not proof.... please show proof.

In all reality, if someone tells someone else that "if they believe in God, they must believe something else" then they are not to be trusted at all.

Would you not agree?

What atheists see Christians as... is of no consequence as to what is actually true about Christians.

Clearly, none of what you just said is true. After all, who was it who just said the following statement in post #368?
The struggle I initially had was when I was arguing with an atheist when they told me that the Bible described the earth as flat... They challenged the truth of the Bible an my faith in this truth by presenting what they understood by reading scripture... now this is an atheist by the way... as a description of a flat earth..

They told me that "if you believe the bible, then you must believe the earth is flat"

This started my self reflection.. just so happened that this was when the FE started to become a hot topic.

This type of inconsistency is what keeps these arguments going so long.

This type of inconsistency is what keeps these arguments going so long.
There are two separate thoughts here. Each must be taken individually.

1st/ I believe nothing, whether it be about God or scriptural theology or what ever, due to some person saying it, unless it aligns with scripture.

Especially if someone tells me that I must believe something based on the fact that I believe in God.

2nd/ An atheist showed me scripture, in regards to something that is very controversial. They did say that if I believe the Bible that I must believe the scripture as they quoted it....

This caused me to look into the scripture...not into what the atheist said, not believing due to what this atheist said. But, rather investigating the word of God to clarify what was presented as fact.

I hope you can now see the two different thoughts here.

We have known what comets are for thousands of years. People have been afraid of them due to the hype, legend and folklore about them. Or, sometimes panic induced by those trying to make a buck.

Here:
Fear of comets

Fear of comets as acts of God and signs of impending doom was highest in Europe from AD 1200 to 1650. The year after the Great Comet of 1618, for example, Gotthard Arthusius published a pamphlet stating that it was a sign that the Day of Judgment was near. He listed ten pages of comet-related disasters, including "earthquakes, floods, changes in river courses, hail storms, hot and dry weather, poor harvests, epidemics, war and treason and high prices". By 1700 most scholars concluded that such events occurred whether a comet was seen or not. Using Edmund Halley's records of comet sightings, however, William Whiston in 1711 wrote that the Great Comet of 1680 had a periodicity of 574 years and was responsible for the worldwide flood in the Book of Genesis, by pouring water on the Earth. His announcement revived for another century fear of comets, now as direct threats to the world instead of signs of disasters.[114] Spectroscopic analysis in 1910 found the toxic gas cyanogen in the tail of Halley's Comet,[115] causing panicked buying of gas masks and quack "anti-comet pills" and "anti-comet umbrellas" by the public.[116]

I'd still like to know something, and I think I've asked you this before, but what would you think of the scriptures if you were to somehow be able to rise up above the atmosphere by being able to take a ride on a rocket or something, and see a spherical earth? Would it affect the way you see the scriptures, God, your salvation, or anything else once you see the earth is a sphere?

Yes, and my point is that even though people have known about what they are for (thousands?) of years, there were still people just over a hundred years ago who still didn't accept science, and still believed the hype, legend and folklore about them. Does that remind you of anything today?
