A friend of mine is an engineer for a company that does work all over the globe.... I said to him once that he has seen a lot of this world... His answer..no.. I have seen tiny spots of many different places all over this world... it is a very large place and when you go somewhere you only see a speck of that part of it.And the fact that you go there on holiday.
This is the same as the Antarctic treks or holidays. I'm not saying that they don't go.. I am saying that they could take you to any icy camp that is freezing cold anywhere. There is no way you could say that you were or weren't on Antarctica. If you were... how much are you actually going to see?
Admiral Byrd had to work out strategic plans to get his airplanes to fly deep into Antarctica.... you think you are just going to go down there and walk up to the edge of the earth? Seriously?
The temperatures are extreme and the weather is unpredictable... If the edge is there and they are trying to hide it... nobody is going to go near it, and live, whether it's the weather or the powers making sure they don't live to tell.
