OK, so.... even being someone who is not totally convinced that the earth is Flat, or a ball.... it really really gets annoying to keep hearing arguments that would be tantamount to kindergarten questions in a university setting.

So, please understand that it is really ignorant to argue about something that you have not investigated.

The edge cannot be walked to. Antarctica is supposedly a rim around a flat plate. There is an ice wall that holds in the oceans. Climb the ice wall and there are 100's of miles (who knows how far) of sheer ice and dangerous landscape.

Also, there is a treaty that has held since 1959 that protects this area from any person just packing up and going. There are miles of paper and red tape as this is protected.

Thirdly... When Admiral Byrd went there in Operation High Jump, planes were crashing into some unseen obstacle. This lead them to believe that the Nazis that fled there, had developed a force field.

Please research a bit more before asking questions that are so basic.

Third, those that know want to keep it that way. Can you imagine if, in 1969 the government came out and said.. "WOW, we cannot go to space, we were wrong, the earth is flat"? Really... how embarrassing, the repercussions would be infinite.

Fourth.. if you found something out, that you were not supposed to know or as part of your new promotion, you needed to know in order to do your job, and this something that you found out was so important yet secret and could cost people their lives and trillions of dollars had been taken from tax payers in order to perpetrate it....

AND.. they said that if you tell anyone..they will kill your father, your mother, your sister and brothers and all your nieces and nephews... your wife and kids and even your grandmother.. and it would not be quick and painless.....You would watch before they killed you too.

SO, in 1931 Auguste Piccard, goes up into the stratosphere in a balloon contraptions and tells the world that it looked like a flat disk with upturned edges.

So that was their first hint.
