His point is valid. I actually have several old dictionaries. What he is describing is quite common. I remember vehemently denying to someone one day that I was a homophobe. I know the root of "phobe" or "phobia" and know that it doesn't apply to me on that subject. However, when I looked up the meaning of the word online, it caused me to now declare myself homophobic, because the meaning of the word is broad enough to include not only the "fear" part but my beliefs as well.

The darker part of my mind hopes that if things go wrong, someone you care about is caught in the crossfire and you remember all the cha-chinging you did leading up to it.

Nationalism is not fascism, though at a certain level it can become an attribute of a fascist country. We're nowhere near that.

I actually see fascism as leftist. Hitler was both socialist and fascist, and very much a leftist.

A fascist believes a baker must bake the cake. So does a leftist. I conservative believes the baker should be free to chose whom he serves.
