Since no one from closer to this side of the international date line has chimed in (I'm talking about you New Zealand) it looks like I'm one of the first in TAW to dip his toe into the new year.
God bless you all abundantly in 2018, and give you strength for the struggles we will all have to face as this world gets further drawn into the snares of the evil one.
With God for us, who can be against us!

P.S. Sydney fireworks were awesome as usual. I apologise for the rest of you having to settle for lesser displays ^_^

You 'Mericans spell funny, but then again why not, when you consider what a torture it is for foreigners to learn English. E.g.

Rough
Through
Cough
Bough

There is a poem someone wrote using words which either sound the same while being spelled differently or are spelled similarly while being pronounced differently. A young French student learning English made the comment that he considered having his fingernails pulled out preferable to reading the poem.
(or something else along those lines)

Happy New Year!

Now where the heck is everyone this morning? Sleeping of hangovers... or celebrating the Circumcision of our Lord in Liturgy?

the latter, duh!

Happy New Year! For real now!

I actually tried to stay up. I had a cup of hot cocoa with Kahlua added. Yummy and warming, but I never finished it. Fell asleep around 10pm. Been fighting a cold. :( Hoped to go to Church this morning (I missed yesterday) but I woke up after 11am! It was in the 20sF here this morning, and due to what I hope is a temporary condition I don't have a coat that fits, so it likely would have been unwise to get out with nothing warmer than a shawl anyway.

So I'm tucked under a perfectly lovely warm blanket my daughter gave me for Christmas - it feels like a plush fur! - little electric heater making me all toasty. Who knows, I might even have another hot cocoa with Kahlua later. Tomorrow is my birthday. So I'm just going to stay warm and enjoy my Christmas tree for now. :) God is good.

But I really miss Church.

We’re a bunch of gun-toatin’ savages with broken English and much cooler cars! Lol
