  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I was #NeverTrump. I’ve changed my mind.

What ended up doing it for me is the body of work he’s accumulated without the help of Congress. I’m no fan of executive orders, but after a flurry of mostly righteous orders in the beginning that reversed many of Obama’s failing orders, he started calming down. The ones he ended up putting in place, from the various travel bans to pulling back on Obamacare to trying to cutting the bureaucracy down to size were all positives. I started saying fewer and fewer bad things about him because he simply wasn’t doing very many things worthy of complaint.

Then, there was Jerusalem. That’s what sold me. He did what every President should have done since 1967. This isn’t a 22-year-old endeavor. It’s a five-decade-old series of failures by American Presidents, including Ronald Reagan, that Trump finally corrected
.

Other Presidents realized that by moving the Embassy to Jerusalem, they might be putting the lives of Americans, particularly tourists, in jeopardy - "The Donald" has no such qualms, in fact he may be deliberately trying to provoke an incident with Muslim "extremists," using the lives of US citizens as "bait!"

Would you like to live in the U.S.?

I would say if you are black or brown then you may as well stay in your home country (unless, you were one of many who was a descendant of a captive/slave in the States.) You may be in for a surprise if you still believe the American Dream exists for you all. And, once you get there and see for yourself, you may end up stuck. So choose your immigration considerations wisely.

That has always been the case, but quite ignored or justified. Never forget 9/11, but the history of the States - fuhgettabouddit!

But, that was the basic social abomination(s) back in the late 80s and early 90s: there was the accepted, usual racism against blacks, latinos, asians and any other hyphenated American. The hyphenated Americans were always lying, or a product of their abysmal origins. If the hyphenated Americans did something wrong, it was because it was in their nature (as opposed to a glitch, or psychological problem.)

After 2001, Middle Eastern looking people were the bane of American existence because they were told so. It got so bad that people who looked middle eastern were in constant fear of their lives.

Then, it became American to be divided on LGBT issues - so much so that (once again) the LGBT community had to protest in order to fight what they saw as a threat to their very existence (i.e. the "flamboyance," often times, is an in-your-face protest against the hate in general.)

Then, of course Blacks were getting killed by cops and beaten either into handicap, or death. Who cares (America surely didn't; every single one of those deaths the world saw was justified in favor of the police.) It has been going on for decades (as well as other racism) but of course the blacks were lying all that time. If I was a black person I wouldn't want to live in the States for that reason alone.

American State(s) tried to release textbooks that perpetuated racist stereotypes about Mexicans.

Your current president is a bully Globalist Oligarch who is passing executive laws that are damaging your country for the benefit of his capital interests. Do you read what is on the government website - the laws are there for you to read. It isn't roses and sugar plums; it isn't even what it has been advertised as. He cares about a select group of people - it is very obvious. And, it isn't just white people: it is people who have more than $25,000,000 in liquid income, and at least $100,000,000 in assets. (Why Americans defend this obvious oligarch who makes laws for his business partners is beyond me.)

I will say: it is interestingly ironic to watch Rome burn while its citizens boast about how great they are, and how great they will be - rejecting the help and information about their current state. It is very easy to see what is happening in the States on the outside looking in - and being a student of history.

I believe that’s called “sticking it to the establishment”

:mmh:

It’s a shame so many Americans don’t know history - or if they do, have learned nothing from it.

I'm not convinced Trump is really concerned with the issues you mentioned though. However, I have no doubt that he'll continue to make dangerous decisions like this one as long as he persists in his efforts to indulge and pacify his large voting base of conservative evangelical supporters. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if he even attempted to claim the United States as a Christian theocracy if that would keep his evangelical supporters elated and on his side. I wouldn't put it past him, tbh.

It's hard to believe sometimes that undying support for Israel seems more important to a subset of Christians than it means to Jews.

It's also hard to believe that many Jews fear Christians more than they fear Islamic terrorists. It's also ironic that Trump who has done a tremendous amount for Jews and Israel is constantly called, "Hitler". Clearly there's a major disconnect on the left.

He certainly cares about the Jews that he allegedly wants to count his money, but I don't think he has done anything for the ethnic Hebrews and migrants Israel has exiled, and is exiling.

Apparently all one has to do these days to not resemble Hitler is like Jews, who knew ^_^

Being concerned about everyone else more than your own country would be another.

"Evangelical" Christians are in "denial" if they think that a President, who fails to see his need to seek God's forgiveness from sin, is one of them!

1 John 1:8-10
**************************************************************
8 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
10 If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us.

Not if you study history.

Clearly you don't do analogies: Muslim and Hispanic is the new Jew.
