Sorry.... I just thought of two other ones that might grab your fancy?

Multiverse Theory and multiple Ezekiel 37 type events.

Would an Intelligence / intelligence..... who may have existed in some sense from eternity in the past......
who could learn as higher and higher levels of experiment were conducted with fundamental or nearly fundamental energy....... become emotionally attached to what was being formed and created..... especially living beings?

Near death experiencer Mellen Benedict was shown a variation on The Cyclic Model of the Universe / Multiverse that very much resembles Chapter 13 in Stephen Hawking's Universe. (It was entitled The Enthropic Principle).

Quite frankly I suspect that Dr. Hawking could be something of a Closet Theist or perhaps polytheist like Dr. Albert Einstein..... but he claims to be an Atheist.... due to the pressure that is put on our scientists to stay away from anything resembling religious belief. (High level bureaucrats and government officials have noticed that Theists......... tend to have difficulty working on new variations of Terminator Seed Technology.... and such inventions that might cause a budding philosopher some pangs of conscience?!

Could God be the most emotional being in the universe????

I'm pretty far out there as far as religion goes, as I'm a complete atheist regarding supernatural phenomena of all kinds.
Hello. I also am pretty far out there, but the theist version lol. I was never an atheist, my bare bottom belief was deism years ago. Anyway, I believe that UFOs can challenge a person who rejects all supernatural phenomena. These objects do not just come in from a certain direction, they appear & disappear, they physically effect equipment (like the 2 Iranian jet fighters that went after one in the 80s, and both jets had their weapon system go down), they have been known to fluctuate their shape, they take off at insane speeds yet do not cause friction noise. They are of a different realm IMO. If they were not it doesn't make sense to me why they would not have taken us over a long long time ago.

Why do you believe Jesus never existed? Don't you know that His existence has been proven by historians worldwide? Even those who didn't believe he is the Messiah wrote about Him. The calendar used worldwide is based on the birth of Jesus. Do you think it is based on a fictional character?
Really? I did not know that Thor was an apostle.

I know what you meant, but the fact that the years are based roughly on the date of Jesus's birth is not any stronger evidence that he was real than the days of the week are evidence that Norse gods were real or than the months are evidence that the Roman gods were real.

That is a particularly weak argument. Though I am not a mythicist. I am interested in perhaps getting a primer on the OP's beliefs.

Hi there! I'm an atheist who enjoys talking to and debating with Christians and others in a mutually-respectful manner. Our outlook is part of what we are, and even if our outlooks are radically and fundamentally different, I think each "side" can learn a lot from the other. I'm pretty far out there as far as religion goes, as I'm a complete atheist regarding supernatural phenomena of all kinds. In addition, after a reasonable amount of study (admittedly as an amateur), I have become convinced that Jesus never actually existed (the so-called "mythicist" position). I love talking about it all with anyone who also enjoys it.

Welcome,

May God lead you to the truth, who is Christ Jesus.

Q: Have you read some of the gospels?

Welcome to the boards, hope you enjoy your stay. Always liked the debate forums myself, debated many an atheist. Don't jump into the debate forums head first, it can get contentious. Wade in a little at a time and drop in and let us know if your are having any trouble navigating the boards.

Grace and peace,
Mark

Jesus is mention both in Jewish and Roman historical records. Neither of which believed that He was the Messiah. The men that followed Him risked their life to do so. They were beaten and almost killed several times, imprisoned, and suffered persecution from the Jews and Romans. Do you think they endured all that for a prank or a lie?

There you go. That is a bit better.

Do you understand how your date argument fails?

ETA: I am still interested in a primer on the Jesus as myth beliefs. I wonder what part of the forum would be appropriate for such a discussion.

Good point!

Richard Dawkins Ph. D. for all his many flaws did make some interesting comments in an interview with Ben Stein a few years ago. Dr. Dawkins admitted... that he could not rule out the possibility of an alien civilization developing on another planet...... millions or billions of year before intelligence developed on earth.

He admitted that he could not rule out the possibility of that alien civilization assisting in human evolution.... or even in our history.

If he had expanded his admission to not only extra-terrestrial life and intelligence..... but even to extra-Dimensional intelligence..... then he would have been knocking on the door of polytheism or even Theism..... .or at least kind of close.

God Evolved
Alpha First Beginning

Isaiah 44:6
“This is what the Lord says— Israel’s King and Redeemer, the Lord Almighty: I am the first and I am the last; apart from me there is no God.

Isaiah 48:12
“Listen to me, Jacob, Israel, whom I have called: I am he; I am the first and I am the last.

Revelation 1:8
I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”

Revelation 21:6
He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life.

Revelation 22:13
I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.

The proof that God exist is in the fact that spontaneous evolution of life is not possible in this universe. God evolved, then He created. From the Subatomic and the primordial Dark Matter. A type of nothing, because it has no atomic bonds to form anything. God created gravity and gravitons to form the atomic elements of this Universe.

Dark Matter is undifferentiated material which has no atomic bonds, this would make it of no particular substance. In other words, it is Nothing. And if you are willing to accept it, it is primordial, and God's store house for creating the universe from "Nothing."

Dark Matter is accepted by the mainstream scientific community. The existence and properties of dark matter are inferred from its gravitational effects on visible matter, on radiation, and on the large-scale structure of the universe. The presence of dark matter in the universe, including gravitational lensing of background objects by galaxy clusters such as the Bullet Cluster, the temperature distribution of hot gas in galaxies and clusters of galaxies and, more recently, the pattern of anisotropies in the cosmic microwave background.

According to cosmologists, dark matter is composed primarily of a not yet characterized type of subatomic particle.

The belief that God created from nothing comes from the Ramban comments on Genesis: www.sefaria.org/Ramban_on_Genesis.1.1?lang=en&layout=lines&sidebarLang=all

Dark Matter: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dark_matter

The missing links are missing because life did not evolve in this Universe.

Isaiah 43:10. "You are my witnesses," declares the LORD (Yahwah), "and my servant whom I have chosen, so that you may know and believe me and understand that I am He. Before me no god formed, nor will there be one after me.

The key is the word "formed." Absolutely anything that has no beginning does not exist. God says that He is the FIRST AND THE LAST. Therefore He Began. That is why His name means "Life Began."

Astronomers detect dark matter though the effect of its gravity on the path that light takes as it crosses the Universe. As light travels through a region of dark matter, its path gets distorted by gravity. Instead of taking a straight line, the light is bent back and forth depending on how much dark matter is passes through.

Astronomers can map out regions of dark matter in the sky just by looking at the distortions in the light, and then working backwards to figure out how much intervening dark matter would need to be there to cause it.

After the creation of the Universe the Earth was later created by God. Before there was a firmament it was a formless body of water. The bible does not state how much time had passed before the creation of the Earth.

God says that no god formed before Him. He also states that none will form after Him, meaning that the element to the forming is no longer available. The word "form" would not have been used if it were not a condition.

Yeah, but he added that they too had to have come around by means of evolution, so he just replaced the question of our origins with the question of their origins...

Here is the interview where Richard Dawkins Ph. D. admitted that he is actually an Agnostic......
not a real Atheist.... for all intents and purposes.... because an open mind toward an alien civilization developing would, it would seem to me...... make one by definition an Agnostic...... not a true Atheist....... because what has happened in technology on earth over this last century makes it obvious that once technology takes off....... any alien civilization could perhaps develop technology..... that we humans of the year 2017.... might consider somewhat ....."godlike!"

Now let me think.... was it ultra low frequency radio waves.... or low frequency waves of some other type that would produce the curses of Zechariah 14??????

I read about it back in the 1990's and I kind of forget the specifics........

Zec 14:12

And this shall be the plague wherewith the LORD will smite all the people that have fought against Jerusalem; Their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their holes, and their tongue shall consume away in their mouth.
