  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Thanks. However, I don't take the Tony Perkins stance which is take a dogmatic hard stance that is not feasible.

Then why are you even talking about Trump's personal life. You talk about be pragmatic, what's pragmatic about wanting to give the White House to Hillary Clinton because Donald Trump had a bawdy conversation in 2005?

When it comes to a lot of things concerning the gay and trans issue in secular situations, I do think there should be pragmatic solutions instead of doing this outright bans.

Do you realize that there is a fairly long list of both medical and psychological conditions that preclude military service? They do not, and cannot, take just anybody.

Because Trump has had a history of being a boorish person that stretches for decades, and pretending he is doesn't erase it.

You can still admit people in, but give regulations. An outright ban would be idiotic.

No worries at all for me -
what about you , after the torment/ judgment starts ?

I'm not worried because fear mongering Christian tactics like that don't work on me anymore. I think any Christian who tries to preach at me about my judgment or my salvation should learn to be more concerned with their own life and stop being so intrusive in other people's lives and personal issues. A good hobby might just do the trick and distract them long enough where they would learn to stop being overbearing and stop intruding into someone else's personal life, uninvited and unwelcome.

I think some people how like Jonah when it comes to distribution. They don't want to guide people through mercy, but harsh judgment. The right way to set people on the path is to give them another chance like God always does through truth and love. The judgment comes if they decide if they will or will not follow God. If God is merciful towards you, then you should towards other people.

Yet, he cared not about them being saved, but the possibility they would be destroyed.

Did Jonah say later he KNEW YHWH was going to spare them ? So how or why do you say he cared not ?

ALSO, YHWH'S message Jonah declared was not with mercy , was it - the message YHWH gave Jonah, told Jonah to speak, was there ANY MERCY in the message?

They have in the past at different times, and maybe different contries.

Yes, he did. He told them to change, or he would destroy.

This won't be the real cure. You have to take pragmatic solutions over overtly dogmatic positions that don't work in the real world.

I myself am ambivalent about Trump as a man. Thing is though, I don't see why being boorish means he can't be a good president. That's getting off the topic of the thread here.

Idiotic is a strong word, and to apply it to a policy that was actually in effect until just last year, in particular, begs justification. I've asked you on this thread before, and didn't get an answer. Idiotic? How so? For medical, psychological and social reasons, it's just plain common sense. The only reason it even became an issue was because the previous administration chose to subordinate common sense to political dogma.

6 to 8 year olds who were able to walk, surely?

The thing is his boorish nature effects what he does as a leader. If you hold Bill Clinton to being immoral, then do the same for Trump. You shouldn't ignore his personal failings, just because he panders to us.

While Obama did have his dogmatic moments, I don't think the response to this policy is to reinstate the ban.

At least it's a start.

If you're intimating that they'll enter under false pretenses, then that can't be helped.

At least they'll be in there illegally.

That's the problem with a lot of the Religious Right when it comes to issues like this is that they take a strong hard stance on this, without being at all pragmatic about who are non-Christian or not.

Let's simplify this.

Would you want to be on a bus going down a mountainside if God decides to judge the driver for whatever sin he's living?
Personally, I wouldn't mind because we have a merciful Father who would not kill the faithful to judge wicked.

Many, many times, the faithful were killed,
when a whole city was wiped out to kill the wicked (presummably),
although NOT by YHWH, but by men - YHWH permitted it.

LIkewise many many many other times , in many countries, >>>

Where Is Outcry Over Children Killed by U.S.-Led Forces?
Where Is the Outcry Over Children Killed by U.S.-Led Forces?
Unfortunately, many people react to the killing of children with a shrug or a cheer.
