  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

If they can pick up a gun and fight, and are willing to to protect this country, then I don't see why we shouldn't let them.

At least they have the courage to do so and I admire them for being willing to risk their lives like that in service for their country. It's more than what I can say for most people I know who judge them.

Would you be wanting to serve in a unit of transgenders when God decides to judge them?

Anyone remember Ai?

God judges who he judges, and it's not only the trans but also other people. Do you think that God will just collectively judge?

According to the Bible, God will judge lying, adultery, and all other sins. Maybe it would be wiser and more beneficial if some Christians would to be more concerned with what God will judge them for than being so overly concerned with what he may judge other people for, including transgender people.

I don't agree with the whole transgender movement because of my religion. However if one who is post-op can pass the psychological exam, I guess it is their right to join (right now). My personal view on transgenderism does not affect the right of someone to have the surgery and live their life as the new gender. Therefore, the president's personal view about transgenderism or the people who control him. This is what right wing conservatives call "legislating morality" which is basically what it is. A group of people don't approve of this population's morals so they are going to make it more difficult to live by those morals however they can. Since they can't outright ban the surgery or cross dressing, they will take away as much of their freedom as they can as I don't know,....a deterrent or something?
Maybe they'll let you know how much the surgeries cost, how long the recovery time is, whether they can't be called up for actual fighting for a time.....

Maybe Congress (the Democrats) will add it to Obamacare for those who exit the military after 2-3 years. You know...... complications, regret, anxiety, guilt. Probably all covered.

From the Book of Joshua? What's the relevance?
Joshua 7:1 But the children of Israel committed a trespass in the accursed thing: for Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took of the accursed thing: and the anger of the LORD was kindled against the children of Israel.
2 And Joshua sent men from Jericho to Ai, which is beside Bethaven, on the east side of Bethel, and spake unto them, saying, Go up and view the country. And the men went up and viewed Ai.
3 And they returned to Joshua, and said unto him, Let not all the people go up; but let about two or three thousand men go up and smite Ai; and make not all the people to labour thither; for they are but few.
4 So there went up thither of the people about three thousand men: and they fled before the men of Ai.
5 And the men of Ai smote of them about thirty and six men: for they chased them from before the gate even unto Shebarim, and smote them in the going down: wherefore the hearts of the people melted, and became as water.

36 men died because of Achan.

If you're trying to imply that God will cause our military to suffer defeats because of transgender individuals serving in it, you should keep in mind that the military also allows atheists, pagans, satanists, and all sorts of unrepentant sinners. You can't exactly purge them all.

I do say that you can still let people into the military, but still not support their lifestyles. I do think there is a way to be pragmatic.

I think that would be quite a stretch if that was actually implied.

Strathos, you're smarter than this, my friend.

If you want to argue that God wouldn't do that, that's another argument altogether.

My question is:

Would you be wanting to serve in a unit of transgenders when God decides to judge them?

If you think He won't decide to judge them because there are "all sorts of unrepentant sinners" there as well, that's fine.

But if He does, do you want to be serving with them at the time?

He judges people individually, and not collectively as people think. It's the same thing as any other group of sinners.

This. After all, even Jesus kept the company of sinners.
