Dear me.

I wonder if Mr. Ivereadthebible here is familiar with the "way of Baalim" and how Baalim used marriage to sabotage the morals of the Israelites in order to disconnect them from God's blessings?

Scientists have dragged our morals down quite a bit since the days of Isaac Newton.
Arab phone ... Chinese whispers ... Grapevine ... Telephone Game?

As morals is not part of physical reality it has nothing to do with science.

Changing "child in the womb" to "fetus" didn't affect our morals?

English is not my first language, so it sure wouldnt, but its irrelevant as your assertion is quite frankly crap.

It has nothing to do with science. And its wrong to boot.

Also, if you dont like abortions, dont have one. Your idea that you can decide over women bodies are quite abhorrent.

I don't expect you to.

After all, you want to claim that [Christianity] is imaginative, rather than claim that Christianity is obligated to a set of standards delineated in the word of God.

And it is because there are strict rules on how to interpret God's word we have NO DIFFERENT SECTS of Christianity! There is only ONE CHRISTIAN CHURCH.

It is quite a happy coincidence for YOU that you happened to wind up in the REAL CHRISTIAN CHURCH with PERFECTED KNOWLEDGE OF GOD. (I do feel sorry for all the atheists and the "wrong" Christians, though. It's gonna be a tough row to hoe for them!)

It's sad when people think we can just believe anything we want to unchecked.

I agree. That's why I try to base my beliefs on something I can verify. You know, unlike guessing that Noah was from New Jersey or all the Flood water went to Neptune or Uranus or wherever. Or even hypothesizing that God created everything with age already embedded into it so it wouldn't make Him into a dishonest being!

But not everyone is so constrained and they just come up with stuff all over the place!

1. Bible says X, science says X = go with X
2. Bible says X, science says Y = go with X
3. Bible says Ø, science says Y = go with Y
4. Bible says Ø, science says Ø = speculate

That is really only TWO standards: whatever the bible says you go with it. If the BIble is silent go with whatever you want.

Prime Directive: Under no circumstances is the Bible to be contradicted.

The Bible is just as good as God!

The Map is the Territory.

Oh, please.

I have every [secular] right to speak out against abortion, since my taxes are used to fund it.

So since E=mc2 isn't in the Bible, I can go with whatever I want?

Apparently, yeah. I mean I see so many Biblical Literalists who are willing to gut pretty much every physical law in service to supporting a literal Bible while still relying on "Science Sounding Statements".

So, go ahead, knock yerself out!

YHWH DECLARED IT. (not 'vet / not any man)
No man can change that.
All men dont go buy your personal interpretations of what mostly anonymous authors wrote 2000 years ago. Dont worry, you can still believe it though.

Really? What has happened to the catch phrase, for which you are world famous?
Nothing, why?

Where science disagrees with the Bible, science can take a hike.

Where science agrees with the Bible, science is welcome to stay.

I'll pass.

I have more respect for science than any ten atheists put together.

Actually you don't. But you seem to be in the habit of simply decreeing yourself "correct".

Such is the nature of faith I suppose. Faith is the substance of things hope for, dontcha know!

Look, I actually understand your point: The Bible is 100% Perfectly Literal and 100% Perfectly Right and you know that because the Bible tells you that. And you are perfectly 100% free and fine to believe that if it brings you comfort in some way.

BUT, that being said, it means you can't respect science. And that's OK! Honest! You don't have to respect science, but you can't really claim that you "respect science" and then carve out a giant massive exception that is counter-scientific.

There are aspects of Christianity I really like (because they work even without the supernatural stuff) but I'd hardly say I respect Christianity more than any 10 Christians if I don't believe Christ is the Savior. I mean Christianity kind of has that at its core, right?

What I think you actually are doing is showing respect for some scientific things while hardly being scientific about it.

You can respect gravity as real because it works, but you aren't really respecting the methodology of how gravity is studied.

.. ... get saved.
Most never do, and suffer the final condemnation/ judgment forever.

So, who wants to remain defiled, an abomination, and dead with "most men" ?

If it means I don't have to cling to a faith whose adherents are busy imagining eternal torment for those who fail to believe as they do I think I'm OK with that particular "defilement".

Actually I can, since I'm willing to take science [up] to a place that atheists and other Heinz-57 unbelievers (agnostics, skeptics, etc.) won't (not can't ... won't) go: the throne of God.

God created science to run the universe.

In that case, your Christianity would be a religion ... not a relationship (with Jesus Christ).

You would be using your Christianity in spite of the Bible, not with respect to It.

Then why do you deny your God and science so often? Or are you going to contradict this post?
