  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Not really. What it tells us is that these gifts, which were routine or commonplace in the early church, existed in order to help spread the Gospel to the unbelieving world AND THAT when that objective was fulfilled and the church was established throughout the Roman world from Britain to Africa to the Middle east, they ceased except for rare instances. God gave them for a purpose and that purpose was accomplished.

The Gospel had not ceased; on the contrary, the Gospel had been planted and converts baptized throughout the known world...just as the Great Commission given by Christ to his Apostles had directed. Matthew 28:19
Ummhello...is anybody out there?

There are presently 7 billion people the majority of whom have not heard the GOSPEL yet and 100% of whom were not alive at that time.
So the GOSPEL And the tools of preaching it with word AND power are presently required more then ever before.
So what said stands..if the gifts have ended

Go the the GOSPEL And the tools of preaching it with word AND power are presently required more then ever before.
So what said stands..if the gifts have ended
Then so has the GOSPEL.and that would be a lie.
And Satan would like nothing more then unbelieving people to keep preaching that lie so the body of Christ is reneged powerless while multitudes perish daily.

Well done thou faithful servant..of whom exactly?I missed who it is you said you are serving
I would say that you missed the point. And perhaps second-guessed God.

The idea I explained was that these extraordinary gifts were used by God in getting his church established in the world.

Certainly, the job of preaching the Gospel to the rest of the world's people was the longer-range mission, and it has gone on right up to recent days, but is done using different tools than were possible during the infancy of the church.

Consider the events of Pentecost, a very good example of what I'm talking about. Jews from many lands, who spoke different languages, all heard Peter preach the Gospel in their own languages! Did that launch the church beyond Judea? Yes. Was that miracle, that special gift given to Peter on that occasion, in use forever, since there are--as you noted--still people in parts of the world needing to hear the Gospel? Well, no.

The point there is not that what Peter did is exactly what we mean by tongues-speaking. It's not. But we see that God can make use of gifts for his purposes as he needs them and for purposes that may be succeeded by something else a while later.

Christianity is one of the worlds largest religions. With the internet and missionary's, how can this be true? What are your sources of this claim?

What is a disciple of Jesus?one who forsakes all to go follow Jesus..one who learns to become like Jesus and do what he does .go heal the sick preach the gospel drive out devil's baptize in Jesus name and make more disciples...who do the same.
How many do you know in your Sunday club that actually Do that?
The thing your referring to is the apostate church wallowing in self deception.

I believe that that was particular because the Pharisee's believed Jesus was close to God, yet assigned the devil to Him. I'm not sure that can even happen anymore in this way.
Read the text...it's all there.mtgey attributedctgecwirjs and power of God to beelzebub..this was saying the power of The devil was greater then God's..and an extremlly digusting thing to say.

Way to dodge my question and the entire subject of my post and to ramble aimlessly about another topic all together.

I want my post and questions addressed.

Why don't you read it again. It was specific to Jesus after having said He was God, then attributing His miracles to satan.

What does that have to do with your saying most of the world has not heard the gospel?

Focus and stay in the conversation please. This is getting very irritating unless you have no answer and are deflecting.

Also, what do saved people in church have to do with how many people have heard the gospel?

Haven't read the entire thread, but your viewpoint must be loosing. Need to go back now and read it.

“He casts out demons by the power of beelzebub”..they said. Then Jesus warns about blasphemy of the Holy spirit.not blasphemy of himself..
It is by the power of the Holy spirit these things are done.so when someone attributes the power of the Holy spirit (being casting out devil's discernment of spirits and all the gifts)what spirit do you think is inspiring them say that?

Summary and Conclusion
<snip> -(because what a long winded load of word play)

Thus the gift of prophecy, along with tongues and knowledge, was a temporary gift which is no longer operative today.

Would you agree that to declare something in the name of Jesus makes one specifically acountable to God for what they declare?
Well .i do.

So..
I'm the name of Jesus I testify to you..
I was baptized in the Holy Spirit of Promise and speak in tongues.
Have layed hands on the sick and seen people healed.
Have seen demons manifest and be cast out in the name of Jesus.
Have prayed for people to be tired in the Holy spirit and witnessed with my own eyes them receiving the Holy spirit and begin speaking in tongues and glorifying God.

Tonight I was in a room of over 90 people all of whom speak in tongues and all who have layed hands on the sick and seen people healed.
Many of whom have also cast out demons and seen others filled with the Holy Spirit and speak in tongues ...and daily more are doing so in thier hundreds..

Your personal experiences are not what determines doctrine. Only the correct exegesis of scripture can provide doctrine. Prove charismatic/pentecostal theology from scripture and I might believe it.

Phooey..I'm not talking your doctrine.
I'm testifying to you that just as Jesus my Lord promised..so it is.

The entire records of the first 5 books of the new testament are a record of testimony ...of what? Of the personal experience of those that were there and experienced it.
The Gospel is a testimony of how to be saved.

I have testified to you but you decided to refuse our testimony...and more then once..
God is spirit and you reject him .

There are certain things in life that are absolutes, such as the sun rising in the East, that apples fall to the ground and that tongues are always directed toward the Father in inarticulate unintelligible sounds. Paul has not provided us with any indicators that tongues can be used to speak to others, which is something that you obviously already know, but for whatever reason that is unknown to us, you still keep on trying to pull this old humanist folly.

Did Paul write to you and me? Certainly not. You remove 1 Corinthians from canon. This Pentecostal delusion's business goes bankrupt! Spiritual things are not something absurd.

Actually stating the things of God are of the devil is the same thing the Pharisees accused Jesus of.
And then Jesus warned about blasphemy of the Holy Spirit...

Equating the personal spirit's confused utterances to that of the Holy Spirit is not only funny and absurd but also blasphemy. Paul never said that unknown tongue is related to the utterance of the Holy Spirit. He claimed that his spirit speaks unknown that is fruitless. Definitely, it is not a spiritual gift

I'm still enjoying my coffee and praying in tongues.
Answered prayer is such a blessing.
Anne got healed from multiple health issues, and is rejoicing in her new health and well being.
We still share testimonies at every worship meeting on what the Lord has done in our lives.
Supposed to keep it within 3 minutes. But way too much to share.

Actually the opposite is true; someone's lack of experience doesn't mean the scriptures are not true during our entire New Covenant.

“If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him. 24 He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Father’s who sent Me.

"If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. 8 By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples."

16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”
