  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Jesus' commandments - opposed to His Fathers Commandments? - Really?

Are Jesus' Commandments opposed to God's Ten Commandments?

  • No Jesus taught in perfect harmony with the Father and the Ten Commandments

  • Jesus came to delete/oppose God's Ten Commandments

  • Jesus taught us to edit the Ten Commandments replacing some but not others

  • Jesus' commandments are based on Love - God's Commandments are not and are ended

  • I don't know - I have not given this much thought so far.

Please tell how this could apply to Abraham.

Easy --- read Genesis. That is where you find the story of Abraham.

And this --

Gen 26
4 I will multiply your descendants as the stars of heaven, and will give your descendants all these lands; and by your descendants all the nations of the earth shall be blessed; 5 because Abraham obeyed Me and kept My charge, My commandments, My statutes and My laws.

Beautifully.
Wondrously.
Delightfully.
Amazingly.
Graciously.
Seriously.
Comletely.
Perfectly.

Indeed as God said "Abraham obeyed"

Sorry but that law was not in existence at the time of Abraham according to Moses - Deut 5:3.

Until you read Genesis 26: - as written by Moses.

Gen 26
4 I will multiply your descendants as the stars of heaven, and will give your descendants all these lands; and by your descendants all the nations of the earth shall be blessed; 5 because Abraham obeyed Me and kept My charge, My commandments, My statutes and My laws.”

Not written anyway. God spoke to Abraham directly, and Abraham obeyed everything God said to do, even when it meant killing his own son. Those were commandments to Abraham.

And now God has made a New Covenant with us, with commandments. And they are 1 John 3:23. He even made it possible to keep these through the infilling of the Holy Spirit for us to walk in love.

Do you mean for us to understand Abraham kept the law given to Israel at Horeb?

Deuteronomy

5 And Moses called all Israel, and said unto them, Hear, O Israel, the statutes and judgments which I speak in your ears this day, that ye may learn them, and keep, and do them.

2 The Lord our God made a covenant with us in Horeb.

3 The Lord made not this covenant with our fathers, but with us, even us, who are all of us here alive this day.

The way I see it, is you want us to disbelieve this passage.

'Selah' - out of the whole world, unique alone one
out of society who thought nothing of sacrificing humans/ burning babies/ killing;
out of idolatry, "serious" other god worship, all participating, approving;

who did YHWH look 'down' from heaven and choose ?

Please show me the truth of Deiteronomy 5:1-3.

Do you mean start disregarding Scripture?
Who in Scripture listened to YHWH and obeyed Him ?
Of everyone called and chosen by YHWH, all who listened to YHWH and obeyed Him , they all honored Scripture.

So why would you be inclined to think to disregard Scripture ?

Your post has nothing to do with the subject of the thread or the law.

Is ...Scripture?
Is this Scripture ?
John 5:39-47Common English Bible (CEB)
39 Examine the scriptures, since you think that in them you have eternal life. They also testify about me, 40 yet you don’t want to come to me so that you can have life.

41 “I don’t accept praise from people, 42 but I know you, that you don’t have God’s love in you. 43 I have come in my Father’s name, and you don’t receive me. If others come in their own name, you receive them. 44 How can you believe when you receive praise from each other but don’t seek the praise that comes from the only God?

45 “Don’t think that I will accuse you before the Father. Your accuser is Moses, the one in whom your hope rests. 46 If you believed Moses, you would believe me, because Moses wrote about me. 47 If you don’t believe the writings of Moses, how will you believe my words?”

If you deny any part of YHWH'S WORD, .... ..... .....

It seems you can't grasp that understanding His Word is not up to us.

Either His Word is TRUTH, and He Reveals the understanding,
or He doesn't Reveal the understanding,

Luke 10:21 - Bible Gateway
Luke 10:21 - Bible Gateway
At that time he rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of ...[hidden these] things from [the educated] wise and prudent, and hast revealed them to babes:
