To this day, Christian baptism requires a person to solemnly" renounce the devil and all his works" and to accept exorcism. Rereading biblical and extra biblical accounts of angels, I learned first of all what many scholars have pointed out: that while angels often appear in the Hebrew Bible, Satan, along with other fallen angels or demonic beings, is virtually absent. Source: MY COPY of The Origin of Satan by Elaine Pagels, introduction xvi, Copyright 1995
So why does anyone even want to think there is a supernatural being such as a Satan that can never die and would have to be immortal if he was equal unto the angels and still lives after 6,000 years, when Luke says those that obtain resurrection Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels
Luke 20:34 And Jesus answering said unto them, The children of this world marry, and are given in marriage:
35 But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage:
36 Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.
Where does that leave the Satan Theory?

Yeshua Himself says HaSatan exists. Also, yes there is immortality, BUT, this CAN be destroyed in the 2nd death...one from which there is no being born again from...in the lake of fire...

  • Satan appears 49x in the Bible.
  • Demons, the offspring of angels appears 45x in the Bible
  • The reason why we find no mention of Fallen Angels is that it is a modern word. In the Bible they are known as the sons of God, chief princes, powers, thrones, dominions, angels that left their former estate, wandering stars, falling stars etc.

So what is your theory on why the name is capitalized as a proper noun in Bible translations ?

Satan VS satan

Aren't all formal titles of persons supposed to be capitalized?

Lamb of God
Word of God
Apostle Paul
Christ Jesus
Emperor Nero
President Obama
Mother Teresa
Aunt Julia
Father Cuningham

Untrue--read the first chapter of the Book of Job. Job has been called the oldest book of the Hebrew Bible by Hebrew scholars.

Is it true its a title and not his real name?

Satan - Wikipedia

Opposer and Deceiver are two titles that he holds. One for opposing God

Satan opposes believers 1Ch 21:1 See also Job 2:1-7; Zec 3:1-2; 1Th 2:18

Satan accuses believers Rev 12:10 See also Job 1:8-11; Zec 3:1-2

Satan slanders believers 1Ti 5:14

Satan tests believers and causes their suffering Rev 2:10 See also Eph 6:11-13,16

Satan opposes the work of the archangel Michael Jude 9 The implication of these verses is that Michael’s work is in direct opposition to that of Satan. Michael is the protector of God’s people while Satan is their opponent: Da 10:13,21; Da 12:1; Rev 12:7

Satan opposes God
Satan opposes God’s purposes Mt 16:23 pp Mk 8:33

Satan opposes God’s word See also Mt 13:3-19 pp Mk 4:3-16 pp Lk 8:4-12 the parable of the sower; Mt 13:24-39 the parable of the weeds and its explanation; Ac 13:8-10 Elymas, the sorcerer, acts on Satan’s behalf to oppose Barnabas and Paul.

Satan opposes God’s righteousness 1Jn 3:7-10

Satan blasphemes God Rev 13:6

Satan’s opposition to God’s work will not succeed
Zec 3:2 God rebukes him; Lk 10:19 His reign is temporary.

Satan’s role as adversary earns him varied titles
The devil He is the adversary because he deceives: Rev 12:9; Rev 20:2-3

Belial He is the adversary because he is the troublemaker or scoundrel (the same Hebrew word is used in the OT passages as in 2Co 6:15 to describe Satan’s work): Dt 13:13; 1Ki 21:10; Pr 6:12; 2Co 6:15

The dragon He is the adversary because he is the enemy: Rev 12:4,13-14

The serpent He is the adversary because he thwarts spiritual insight: Ge 3:1-5,13; 2Co 11:3

The prince of this world He is the adversary because his rule is temporary, not absolute: Jn 12:31; Jn 14:30; Jn 16:11

The angel of the Abyss Rev 9:11 He is the adversary because he is the destroyer

---------------------
The other for deceiving Eve and all others who believe his drivel.

2 Corinthians 11:3
But I am afraid that, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, your minds will be led astray from the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ.

Is it true or false that the enemy is jealous of our salvation? Some Christians believe it, others don't.

When God was creating the heavens and the earth, His tip of the list Archangel was Lucifer (Light Bearer). However, Lucifer desired the earth to be his own, so he rebelled against God, and God created a separate place for him that we call hell. Because Lucifer was no longer a light bearer, he became satan (the accuser of the brethren). I don't capitalize the first letter, because that give him too much respect.

Why do Jews not believe in Satan like Christians do? The Pharisees did.

Many ethnic Jews are now atheists (many have become atheists since WWII). C.S. Lewis maintained that one of Satan's greatest victories was getting people to disbelieve in his existence.

Was Lucifer his real name or just a translation?

I can't say. I have never been in heaven, and I try not to deal with satan. However Lucifer sounds like a Latinism, though, don't you think?

...except the Lucifer of Isaiah 14:12 is a Babylonian king and not the "satan" or "the devil" of orthodox Christianity.

In fact "Lucifer" is not even a proper name. Most versions render "Lucifer" as "day star" or "morning star".

Is it true or false that the enemy is jealous of our salvation? Some Christians believe it, others don't.

Satan's attempt as evidenced by his words to Eve was to cast doubt on the legitimacy of God's right to rule the universe and to tell his reasoning creatures what to do. He accused God as being selfish and of depriving his creatures of their right to choose for them selves what is right or wrong instead of depending on him to tell them. He accused God as fearful that then his creatures would become like him in that sense and that his creatures could do well without God's guidance.

In that way he became both an oppose and a deceiver. His leadership ambitions over humanity are assumed since he projected himself as being more concerned about our human well being than God himself.

Within this context, does human salvation via Christ bother him? Well, anything that puts God in a good light and proves him a liar and deceiver bothers him since he wants to be believed.
