• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Forgive me if if i'm in the wrong forum with this. If i am please let me know and i'll have staff move it. Thank you.

This thread addresses the morality of war. How can we support war? Shouldn't we be praying instead of bombing people?

Is there some reason we can't do both?
If we want to get old testament on folks, sure. Im just going to be plain and honest. I cannot find in the NT where we are taught that we bomb people. We are taught to pray. I hear a lot of stuff on CF about the power of God. If we can trust God with our finances, our health, food and clothing, then why not trust him to protect us? Isn't the answer prayer? Isnt that sound doctrine? Sure we can quote Romans 13, but God never taught us to bear arms,. but to pray and turn the other cheek.

Force can be used for good or for bad. We have to be very careful of what to support

What about prayer though? Is our prayer so ineffective that we must bomb our enemies? Why can we boast about God fixing our finances, and healing our bodies, but we lack faith that He will protect us as well? What kind of faith is this?

Hi.........we don't live in the OT.

Yes but its the same God and most people believe God doesn't change. Of course the main argument here is that what reason do we have to believe that we should not go to war as christians? Or as a christian nation. I'm not aware of any change from ot to now that makes God unallowing for his people to go to war.

God doesn't change. Hes still the avenger and administer of justice. However, we are taught to let God be that avenger. Im not talking about soldiers, im talking about us, the folks who support war. I use to support war, but after i got deeper in the Word, my mind changed.

I am absolutely certain that you've fashioned an air-tight argument there!
