Pride problems

Anybody know some good scriptures to take a proud or stubborn person down a few notches? I struggle a lot with thinking I'm not saved and I'm not asking for anyone to make it worse I just mean verses about how futile and insignificant and weak and useless humans are without God's help.

I don't always understand Job. Like his friends rebuke him.... and I thought they had good advice but then they're rebuked? Like was their advice bad or their motives/hearts? What was wrong with them?

Because wasn't he saying God was unjust and they were saying God is always just and righteous and wickedness cannot prosper?

God said at the end of Job that Job's friends spoke wrong of him (God) and commanded sacrifices to be made so they would be forgiven.

The poster in this thread was referring to when God finally answers Job, when God starts speaking and rebukes Job.

What did the friends do to speak evil of God? Weren't they telling him God is never evil?

I'm not sure myself, I never read all of Job... there's a lot of theology in Job. But God says they did, maybe not fully but partially at least.

That is what I was referring to, When God begins to speak. It reminds me of a time when a pastor friend of mine had a conversation about my dog. I told him that my dog would never see the inside of a cage because I do not believe in putting a dog in a cage. He then preceeded to tell me that dogs like being in a cage. What left my lips next, kinda shocked us both,but this is what I said, Have you ever looked out of the eyes of a grasshoper? Then how do you know how a dog feels like in a cage?

Hmm theres plenty in proverbs and psalms have a look, proverbs can be easy to remember so start with them.

Chapter 30 is especially good talking about prideful people

Proverbs 30:32

We can eliminate some pride by accepting what Scripture states. We can immediately exchange our thoughts about not being saved to His Word "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." I John 1:9 (Rom 12:2, II Cor 10:5)

We can put this Scripture in first person and say - Since I have confessed my sins, Yahweh has been faithful and just to forgive me and cleanse me from all unrighteousness. There are other Scriptures about confessing our sins as in The Lord's Prayer. He isn't caught off guard. None of our sins are more than what Yahweh is able to forgive. When we confess them, then He forgives and cleanses all. Then we're putting our emphasis where it should be - on Him. We receive His forgiveness (Acts 26:18) based on His word.

Doesn't that make us realize even more how He loves us? Plus we exchange a spirit of heaviness by praising Him (Isa 61:3). If you haven't read it lately, encourage reading Psa 145.
