  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Here lately I have wondered why I do not hear ANY sermons preached on hell. I grew up Pentecostal and all those years I would hear preaching on hell fire, repent and give your life to Christ. Many times I saw the Holy Spirit convict people during these sermons and they would practically run to the altar. It seems here lately and has been happening for years now that preachers no longer preach on this matter. Why has everything turned into a pretty package, tickle your ears service?? Why have we strayed away from this? The preacher used to pour out his heart to the congregation, pleading the case of Jesus to turn from the wickedness of this world for there is a heaven and there is a hell, choose today who you will serve, repent for the time is drawing near. What happened to this teaching and preaching, it seems it has all but vanished?
Yea, what happened to it? We not allowed to put the fear of God into children when we do Bibles in Schools. We just tell them about Gods love instead.

I think cos some parents complained, if we did that, we wouldnt be allowed to teach the Bible.

I dont know about pentecostal churches, but they seem more focused on health and wealth, the baptists seem to be more about you walk with Christ rather than whats going to happen to the wicked, and the presys, well they dont worry about it cos they think they already chosen.

Hi Solomons Porch,

In post 535 you said "because hell is a terrible place and we have been saved from going there, "IF" we are living as Christ called us to live."

I'm not throwing stones at you but I have to point out the false doctrine. That is a false gospel that will save no one. SALVATION is completely done by Jesus and our only part is to believe. Remember I'm talking about salvation from going to hell here. I'm NOT talking about how a saved person SHOULD live AFTER they are saved.

Romans 5:19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience OF ONE shall many be made righteous.

See the recent thread Ministers of Righteousness, there are some excellent posts there.

Actually I agree with everything you have said and it even matches to what I believe, so I do not think there is a false gospel here at all. But if you see it that way its ok, I have no problem with your opinion. To understand everything that I have said from the beginning until now, you would have to read the whole thread, and that might take a while. Yes salvation is only through Jesus Christ. If you want to understand my thoughts and feelings you would have to read the entire thread. So I really dont see where you feel that this is false.

Sometimes people like to only read the last page or just a couple of pages and then they reply on just "one statement" without digging into the root of where it came from. I have been guilty of that in the past. So I have learned before I cast my vote, I need to go back to the beginning. Have a blessed day in Jesus!!

the good news makes little sense without the bad news.
The bad news is the conviction that we are sinners all of us and that there was no other way than CHRIST laying down HIS LIFE for us

That is enough to prick the heart of any who enter into the church which is supposed to represent a body of believers already baptized through faith in CHRIST and HIS SAVING WORK

I fear great consequences for those in leadership that know the truth, but do not tell the truth, all for the almighty dollar. These people when that time comes will run to their churches and pastor for answers wondering why did you not tell me about this??? too late
The pastor is preaching CHRIST and HIM crucified
Those who hear the MESSAGE and believe have a work to do for themselves

Grow in the grace and knowledge of THEIR LORD

for in truth, it is their relationship with HIM...not their pastor that is most important

I keep using my earthly father as an example. But thats what I feel you must do. If my daddy wouldve always just patted me on the head when I did wrong, I NEVER WOULD HAVE FEARED AND RESPECTED HIM, I wouldve continued on in my ways.....thinking Oh well its ok, theres no price to pay for me stealing this car, or bullying another kid, skipping school, slapping my mom.....I mean thats the point, I was brought up with a balance of love and fear, but that fear was brought to me IN LOVE because they loved me. They knew this world would hurt me and that I had to toughen up and deal with life one day. That is love. Bible says he disciplines those He loves. I would hate to die and have heard all my life here on earth that no matter what I did i could say oopppssss Jesus im sorry, then I die and find myself swimming in flames. Somebody should have told me about this place called hell.

Those who heard the GOSPEL preached wanted to know what they should do because their hearts were pricked

GOD also disciplines HIS CHILDREN. And it isn't pleasant but HE does this so that our faith will prove genuine

But one has to first be given the right to become HIS CHILD

Remember?

Those who believed HE gave the right to be called children of GOD

One has to believe in order to be brought into THE HOUSE

After that THE FATHER will discipline HIS CHILDREN when they sin or stray from THE TRUTH

So that we won't be condemned with the rest of the world

Peter spoke about this in his letters.

And if a child is not disciplined he is an illegitimate son

Its because as the bible says, in the end things will get worse. More prosperity preaching, more half gospel truths, more "feel good" pastors. Many churches now have so many views that are against the bible that things have gone down hill. When I was growing up in the 80s for example, almost no church preached Halloween was ok. Now pretty much every church is fine with it.
So true....its sickening. I want the whole gospel, not just parts but the whole.
In the end, during a time of evil and trouble, the true church will shine like a beacon of hope to all and a DOOR unto THAT HOPE

And THAT DOOR and THAT HOPE is CHRIST

HI solomons porch,

The teaching of hell is an integral part of learning the truth of the reality of this life. However, I believe that in our teaching of anything of the Scriptures we need to try, as best we can, to follow the examples of Jesus and Paul and the other apostolic teachers of the new covenant Scriptures. We should teach with an attitude of love and compassion for those who are hearing our words.

But yes, we have become that which the Scriptures tell us that we will become. A people who want to fill our itching ears with those things which please us to hear. I believe that in our seeking a place of worship that we should strive to find such a place where the teacher does teach the truth. If what is being taught is the truth, but seems uncomfortable to our ears, then there is likely a very good reason for that. This brings us to a crossroads. We can choose to turn away from such teaching, as many did one day when Jesus was teaching a particularly hard truth, and find somewhere else to worship that makes our itching ears more comfortable. Or, we can allow the conviction that we experience to change us and continue to mold us into the kind of person that God wants us to become.

Jesus and many of the first apostles often spoke of hell in their teaching. So, for someone to leave a fellowship because the teacher speaks of hell, or for someone to try and deny that such a place as hell isn't a part of the reality of this life, is, in my opinion, a poor choice to make at such a crossroad. For us to think and consider that such teaching might scare children or grown ups and, therefore, not be taught, doesn't seem to follow the Scriptural examples that we have either. We know for a fact that there was at least one young boy in attendance at one of Jesus' teachings who brought a lunch of a few loaves and fishes.

For us to likewise believe that the teaching of hell only scares people into accepting the love and mercy of our God, Father and Creator and should, therefore not be taught because that isn't why God wants us to believe in Him. Also doesn't seem to follow the example of the Scriptures. I believe that God does want us to understand the consequences of our choosing. In giving the law unto Israel, God laid out clearly and plainly the consequences of both obedience and disobedience. He doesn't seem to have pulled any punches and left it to them to only choose to follow Him because of all the good things that would be their's through obedience. He clearly let them know of all the bad things that would be their's through their disobedience. I likewise, don't believe that God only wants us to teach others only about the good things that are their's through obedience to Him today.

We are to teach the whole truth of the Scriptures to those who are working to mature in their faith. Just as when Jesus taught before the people of Israel as he journeyed throughout the land of Israel, some who came to hear him may have already believed in him and were there to learn more of what he taught as the truth. To mature in their faith. Many, however, were likely just first time attenders who had come out to listen because they were curious about this man who claimed to be the Son of their God. This man who was claiming to have come from God to teach them about their God.

God bless you,
In Christ, ted
Can I ask you what was that particularly hard teaching that JESUS was teaching?

Are you referring to John 6 where HE tells those (whom HE already knew did not believe) that they must eat HIS flesh?

That particular teaching is so important to our REMAINING in HIM

Don't you think?

I mean if one "eats" of (fellowships in) Him should that be sufficient to keep ones feet planted firmly on
THE FOUNDATION remaining in HIM and not going out from
HIM

Oh yes no doubt.....some preachers "back in the day" drove the message in the ground, over and over again. And that is not as all what I am looking for. But your 3 points is very true, to know and feel the love of Christ is what drew me (thru the Holy Spirit) into a relationship with Him. I knew that love, thats what convinced me to live for Him.
I highlighted your above response to another poster on how you came to know THE GOSPEL

See? This is how you came to know HIM and this is how the HOLY SPIRIT testifies of CHRIST and convicted you of your need to repent and be reconciled to GOD because of CHRIST
solomon's porch said:
ut the issue is that I knew that great love for me, therefore I also knew that with that love, came a new way of life and if I chose to not obey Him, I would suffer the consequences. The tree of good and evil.....even there you see an action/consequence. Just a good balance is all Im wondering. Not just hell hell hell hell......but the whole package. From Genesis to Revelation, not hiding the truth.

Question?
Did you find the WAY back to the TREE of LIFE?

Jesus was a hell preacher too.

Woes of the Pharisees - Wikipedia
Did they believe HIM?
Did they accept HIS TESTIMONY?

No they didn't
That sir is the judgement

The GOSPEL is for a testimony of and agains
HE told us what we were called to do
And Paul understood we were called into a ministry of reconciliation

If we were allowed to call curses and woes on those who do not believe, HE wouldn't ha e said shake the dust from your feet as a testimony against them

And HE would have allowed Peter to rain fire down on the Samaritan village who did not receive CHRIST's TESTIMONY

Totally agree !!
I fear for those that are at "crossroads" they are leading their children and the next generation. Who will stand in the gap and stand for the whole truth? I just dont see much if any exsist anymore. What will happen in the last days, when all those that had their ears tickled look around in dismay wondering whats happening??? Little is given little is expected, but for those that teach and know the word of God are held to a higher standard, i have great fear for them, for they are picking and choosing certain parts and not the whole. Look at the peoples blood that will be upon their hands......
There will be more blood on everyone's hands if they do not call those who are lame. Those who are ignorant. Those who are confused and point them to THE DOOR

Lot didn't curse the people whom he lived amongst
He was grieved by Salk that was happening before him. But he alone was pulled into THE DOOR and THE DOOR shut.

Noah preached that a flood was coming and he built a refuge which he did not and would not have prevented any one from entering in.

And these were far far unrighteousness

In the day of evil, those who did lip service to the NAME And those who knew of whose SPIRIT they truly were of will be made manifest by their works

And during this dark time, the profound witness of those who understood will shine and many atbthe last hour will enter in

So you agree that how you came to know HIM was through the outpouring of GOD's LOVE

Correct?
And you agree that when the HOLY SPIRIT is poured out upon those who hear THE GOSPEL and believe there is a knee buckling/heart rending revelation of THE MAGNITUDE of GOD's GRACE and LOVE upon HIS children who were ever and always going astray

I agree, but this is a good question. I find that it is a problem not only in our Churches but in America itself. We are seeing a very immature generation, a generation who's number 1 concern is not to offend or be offended by anyone. The Church is trying to play to the safe zone generation. Where are the strong Christians? Where is the message of the gospel in its entirety? We MUST WAKE UP! I have fought Demons and struggled with sin. We are at WAR it is not all sunshine and roses, it is grit, it is pain, it is sorrow, and persevering against the world itself. I must call it what it is even if it hurts, or the enemy will win.
And so they offend

Hi miknik,

Yes. In John chapter 6, as we divide the Scriptures, Jesus speaks of how we must take of his flesh and that his flesh will be given for their lives. Then we are told that a number of his disciples considered such a teaching too hard to comprehend and turned back.

According to Jesus one must eat of his flesh and drink of his blood to remain in him. I believe that he is speaking here more specifically of being in fellowship with him, the Father and the Spirit through the act of communion. Jesus speaks pretty much these exact same words to his disciples as he institutes the practice of the communion of the last supper.

God bless you,
IN Christ, ted
