Trump: ‘We are going to restore the rule of law’

“This is a law enforcement agency. But for too long your officers and agents haven’t been allowed to properly do their jobs. But that’s all about to change,” Trump told DHS officials. “From here on out, I’m asking all of you to enforce the laws of the United States of America.”

Trump can declare all he wants...
He has a pen, a phone ... and a Twitter account.

Amen, but in this fallen world that is going to be hard to get.

Budget, courts, judges, legal staff are adequate. Enclosed, minimally comfortable compounds should be a lot less expensive than prisons… that's all that our troops get.
There is this thing called the 8th amendment. Moreover, prison is SUPPOSED to be about rehab classes and school would be hard to hold in the middle of nowhere considering that modern convinctions are needed for some of them.

What we need is for non-violent offenses to be treated differently.

I agree.

However, I understand the op is referring to Trump's comments on immigration enforcement. If Trump is going to detain and deport 100 percent of all illegal immigrants captured, he is going to need a lot more Courts and prisons. The current system is already overwhelmed....thanks in part to the GOP blocking Federal judge nominees.

We need drug users and drug dealers to be sentenced and treated differently. Our prisons are full of people who do not Need to be there but we have to provide the corporate slave to the private prison system.
We pay over $30,000, per prisoner, per year to private institutions for people they force to make products for the corporation to sell globally. What a racket!

It depends on what is considered cruel and unusual treatment... our troops don't get to stay in Hiltons.

If we released the many that are in prison and awaiting trial now that don't need to be sent to prison that would open up both courtrooms and holding space.

If someone is illegal why should they get a trial and not just deported?

Did you address the second part of that?

Troops have classes and briefings in less-than-desirable conditions. If law breakers were very dependent on modern conveniences they wouldn’t be out breaking the law.

There is another problem with your idea as well it would work with prisons, but it would fail in many jails. There IS a difference that if you do not know I will GLADLY explain ( many people do not know the difference) As for modern convinces I am not speaking of the inmates themselves; whether of the classes they take to help them ( and society as somewhere between 95% and 98% of inmates WILL be released once they ARE released. You know it is funny how in countries in northern Europe they have nice prisons, yet a much much much lower rate of repeat offenders.
