Hello everyone,

We have had blessings around since our previous software and when we moved over we didn't really have a good system setup for receiving blessings and spending them. That's about to change though!

Today, all Blessings will be reset and rebuilt based on a certain criteria. This criteria is based off of actions you take on the forum. For example, simply logging in each day will get you Blessings, as well as posts.

There are also actions that we will not disclose that will also earn you Blessings. So make sure you take advantage of all that the forum has to offer and watch your Blessings grow! :)

Why are we resetting blessings? Well, we want everyone to be on an even playing field. Why? Because now you will be able to redeem your blessings.

With your Blessings you will be able to purchase premium account upgrades, gift premium account upgrades and make other changes to your account, such as change your username.

This is intended on giving those who can not afford to upgrade their account a way to participate and then use their Blessings to enjoy our Premium Account feature.

Look for the new features to pop up over the next week or so!

Actions that will award you blessings:

Receiving a Like or Rating
Giving a Like or Rating
Creating a Post
Creating a Thread
Having someone reply to your thread
Logging in everyday gives you blessings right out of the box
Voting on a Poll
Getting a Follower
Have a thread featured

I think blessings are a great way to let someone know you are thinking of them. If the team wants to make them of actual value it is a plus.

You will still be able to send blessings to others. The points value will just be adjusted so that everyone can have an equal footing when it comes to redeeming them for upgrades or gifting upgrades to others. :)

Just remember some veterans have been a long time accumulating blessings and some have paid actual cash for them. Upgrades... There us to be a system where you were awarded some kind of recognition for the messages posted on CF. With the top award given for those who posted 100,000 or more. Little icons were placed next to the avatar such as the gold crown for the 100,000 posters. This is a great way to encourage involvement here on the CF.

We can work that into the new system.

Care to expand?
i have some real world experience along this line.
the apartment complex where i had resided for 12 years decided to upgrade their apartments. That was good news in the beginning---except they had one problem; finding vacant apartments to renovate in an organized fashion.
So they came up with the idea of not renewing any existing leases, thus forcing people to move. Management's idea was that those people would then move (at their own expense mind you) into the newly renovated apartments.

What they didnt count on was the fact that they had created a market where none had existed before.

Those people who had voluntarily renewed their leases and were actually happy where they were, were being forceably booted out of their residences.

Essentially by messing with blessings balances CF is doing the same thing; creating an adverse situation where there had been none before, in an attempt to generate extra revenue.

So to complete the saga of the apartments one thing led to another...
people did start moving out, which ment more heavy moving trucks than normal were driving on the roadways thru the apartment complex.
That additional weight had the effect of putting more stress on the underground water and sewer lines, which not expectely ruptured.
An event that had not been forseen by the management.

Those ruptures resulted in more water being used, which in turn caused the resident's water bills to tripple overnight. Thus even residents who had not planned on moving out of the complex were now rethinking their decisions.

needless to say the apartment's ratings plumeted on facebook.

the moral here is that it pays to look ahead, and not stir up waters which had been calm, lest more is lost than is gained.

I can understand where you are coming from. There is a right way to do things and a wrong way. However, at some point things need to change so that the system can work for everyone and not just a few. I plan to work to acknowledge those that have been here and contributed the most.

When it comes to blessings, those at the top will still be far ahead of those who have not contributed a lot. Those members will still hold great influence over how they spend their blessings.

In the end, their blessings will have more value because where there was no market for their hard work, there is now.

I will be working on this throughout the day. We will get it figured out. There is a lot of data to go through. In the mean time, I am going to disable gifting of blessings until everything is where we need it.
