  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Really? I assure my understanding here is taken from Catholic teaching and I challenge you to show where it is not, and i will change it if it is, or expose your own ignorance. Put up or shut up. Your immature recourse to ad hominem betrays your desperation.

And lots of people resort to unsubstantiated assertions and ad hominem in lieu of an argument, as you have, and thus the challenge again, put up or shut up! "Reiterating your baseless bare charge and "Nothing more buddy" simply will not do it.

Lol, you need guidance buddy. As do a lot of the people who do not know Catholicism. I agree, you do resort to a tremendous amount of unsubstantiated assertions. You just grab ideas from nowhere really.

Catholicism is beautiful, true and from deep within Gods heart. Its teachings are rich and full of the Holy Spirit. Ok, the 'church' may have issues in areas, and in the past but its core is solid. Build on solid rock, not sand like some denominations.

The Catholic Church stands tall and strong while missiles etc are launched at it daily. NOTHING can knock us down! NOTHING!

Remember one thing, Jesus is steering the Catholic Church! Many have 'jumped ship' over the years because the sea got rough. They could not weather the storm! Jesus said that it would not be easy.

I for one will stay till the end. I would die for my faith. I believe in the Catholic church. The Church started by Jesus Christ.

1,000s of other denominations have sprung up like weeds since the reformation. Each one in rocky ground. In places where they will not survive the test of time. The Catholic church has been here for 2,000 years and it will still be here when Jesus returns.

Jesus 'IS' in the Eucharist. 'He' gave us the Eucharist. He would not give us just some worthless 'symbol'. No! He gave us His Body and Blood.

Look at the miracles the Eucharist has shown over the years.

How can anyone Blaspheme against the Eucharist!!! The Eucharist is God! Its Jesus's flesh and blood.

"Do this in memory of me" Jesus said.

"Eat my Body and drink my Blood" He said

The jews ran away when he first told them this as they took it 'LITERALLY'. He meant it 'LITERALLY'. He knew the sacrifice he was about to do. He knew the last supper was on the horizon. He knew he was leaving us a part of Him to be remembered daily in the sacrifice of the mass.

Those who disbelieve the real presence are truly going against Jesus. They are also missing out on the most awesome sacrament.

I thank God for the real presence.

Sorry sir, but you seem very stuburn and I'm not your buddy.

I was a Catholic so I know what you are talking about. Very rude with your answer to other posters here.

Is that the way you show the love of Jesus to your fellow humans?

Revelation 18 is very clear but you don't believe what it says.

Why other religions are not attacked by that chapter?

Do the math.

Look buddy, you are deep in the 'Catholic Hatred' mindset thinking that its the Catholic Church that is the enemy in Revelations!! You are working on fairytale rubbish made up by other people.

You have been pulled away from the True faith and sit surrounded by others who are up to their necks in the mud of the devil. Let go and return home to Catholicism buddy.

I am stubborn when it comes to my faith in Jesus and the Catholic church. You gave in to the temptations of the other faiths. You jumped ship just like them my dear friend. Some of us will ride out the rough seas with the calm.

God bless you dear friend in Christ

The Catholic Church stands tall and strong while missiles etc are launched at it daily. NOTHING can knock us down! NOTHING!

Expand you knowledge base and understand the prophetic picture and how history has and is fulfilled it to a tee. Step out of your comfort zone and explore other than Catholic dictate. Not trying to convert just trying to get you to better educate yourself.

Have you ever read the Angel of the Lords interpretation of King Nebuchadnezzar's dream in Daniel 2

38 And wheresoever the children of men dwell, the beasts of the field and the fowls of the heaven hath he given into thine hand, and hath made thee ruler over them all. Thou art this head of gold.
39 And after thee shall arise another kingdom inferior to thee, and another third kingdom of brass, which shall bear rule over all the earth.
40 And the fourth kingdom shall be strong as iron: forasmuch as iron breaketh in pieces and subdueth all things: and as iron that breaketh all these, shall it break in pieces and bruise.
41 And whereas thou sawest the feet and toes, part of potters' clay, and part of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; but there shall be in it of the strength of the iron, forasmuch as thou sawest the iron mixed with miry clay.
42 And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken.
43 And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay.
44 And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.

The Lord Jesus Christ can knock you down if it is his will so don't say NOTHING.

Our Lord said that God is the God of the living; not the dead.

That does not refute my point at all.

But arguing that asking the faithful departed for their prayers is forbidden is a tough sell.

Not if you understand the Old Testament and the many instance where God forbade communion with the dead and forms of Necromancy.

I have personally experienced the benefits of it.

A Mormon or JW also personally experiences their faith. Personal experiences do not truth make.

I am a convert so it was quite surprising to this former Protestant to receive graces from a practice he (which is to say I) once rejected.

It sounds like you were then a former Protestant of convenience rather than of conviction and understanding.

You buddy everybody. Wrong approach sir.

May God bless us ALL.
You buddy everybody. Wrong approach sir.

May God bless us ALL.

Indeed, as Tiny Tim observed, may God bless us, everyone.

Sometimes when I read these discussions on Christian Forums it makes me think that maybe I was better off when the Management goofed and banned me in error for over a year, when they incorrectly changed my name from Basil the Great to Innocent III. At least then I did not have to read some posts that deeply sadden me. If a Jew or a Muslim or a Hindu or a Buddhist or an agnostic or an atheist comes here and sees Christians overly bickering, it is a poor witness. Yes, we have differences. However, the main thing should be that we are all Christians. That fact should outweigh the differences between us. We must never forget this, my C.F. friends.

Of course it does. Our Lord refused to consider the faithful to be dead in an eternal sense. Other parts of Sacred Scripture refer to their condition as "sleep", emphasizing the temporary nature of their condition.

I'm sorry that you disagree with Sacred Scripture but unfortunately it speaks rather clearly to the fact that the faithful departed are very much alive. In fact, they're more alive than we are.

Not if you understand the Old Testament and the many instance where God forbade communion with the dead and forms of Necromancy.
Necromancy? Are you referring to the forbidden practice of visiting a medium so that the departed can be conjured or otherwise summoned for two-way dialogue? Because that's what necromancy is and that is not what traditional Christians do when we ask the faithful departed to pray for us.

A Mormon or JW also personally experiences their faith. Personal experiences do not truth make.
Don't they? I will grant that my experiences are not objectively verifiable (at least not by you). However, that lack of falsifiability doesn't make my experiences invalid.

The simple reality is that I have prayed Marian prayers and received grace to resist particular sins with which I struggle.

It seems decidedly unlikely that the devil would so much as lift a finger to help me resist sin. So either I'm achieving it all on my own (which doesn't seem likely) or grace is being imparted to me due to my Marian prayers.

I know which of those I find easier to believe.

It sounds like you were then a former Protestant of convenience rather than of conviction and understanding.
First, don't talk like you know me.

Second, we're all products of our life experiences. In my case, I ultimately studied the Church Fathers and their writings. And son of a gun! Their beliefs, doctrines, practices and principles sure seemed Catholic to me.

I realized I'd been wrong my whole life so I made the necessary changes and joined the Church Our Lord founded. :)

Sorry not my buddy. But your church is not the true church of Yeshua. (The word Jesus and Christ is of pagan origin)

Keep your faith and suffer the consequences.

IT IS YOUR DECISION, NOT MINE.

You are not my friend in Christ, buddy?

How do you come to the belief that Jesus and Christ are of pagan origin? Was that gleaned from a cookie packet?

Good thinking. We are ALL in this world doing things that are similar such as :
Breathing the air,
Eating the food provided by earth,
And many other things, BUT

The big BUT, our brains process what we have learned in different ways.

Very, very different ways and here this forum, I hope, was created for us to discuss Christian issues.

And what happens?

We are fighting like little kids so that represents what is happening in the world nowadays.

I ask myself a wuestion?

Have we found the true word of God or have we found the big lie of the Devil?

Since the Devil knows that he lost the game, he is trying to recruit as many people as he can so those souls will end up in eternal damnation, separated from the company of our All Mighty.

By what people write in here and you study what they say you will know what is in their brains, their ideas. That is part of your fruits, our fruits: by their fruits you will know them.

So we should know who is Catholic, Presbyterian, Methodist, Anglican, Protestant and many other ideologies.

Isn't the body of Christ supposed to be perfect, without internal sickness?

Do we seem here to be the body of Yeshua? Far from it. We look like a pathetic bunch of believers in Yeshua and call ourselves Christians.

We are the Laodicean type of church. Jesus will spew out of His mouth.

We look like the body of Christ-not: a bunch of sick parts fighting. The body of Christ does not fight, the parts are in agreement. Do we reflect to be the church, the body of Christ?

NO WAY. NO, NO and sadly NO.

Let's take the LORD'S advice and buy those 3 things from him.

Go and find out and act reponsibly not as little kids.

MAY GOD GIVE US HIS WINDOM.

You are right my friend. If only everyone could have stomached the storms in the early days of Christianity (Catholicism) then we would all be united under the same banner!

Seas got too rough for some and they abandoned ship! They fled in tiny boats which began to sink straight away! They, were like the seeds thrown on rough stoney ground, doomed to die!

Catholicism goes back to Christ. Catholicism has weathered the storms. It still survives! Why? Because Jesus is at the helm buddy!!!

God bless you

Sorry but it doesn't.

I believe you have not studied enough to know what is going on.

Sorry buddy-NOT.

Lol, i knew you would say that!!

Read Steve Ray. A massive Catholic hater, much like the way you come across. He converted after much thought, study and by Gods grace.

This city reigns over the kings of the Earth.

The Roman Empire did not reign all over the earth.
It did reign over all the earth at the time. All the known world.
Read Revelation 4 for an alert.

Were the Roman soldiers dressed with gold, precious stones and pearls? No.

The Cardenals and Bishops do.
They do? I can honestly say I've never seen a "Cardenal" or Bishop wear gold, precious stones or pearls. Never.
One hour and then doomsday.

IS YOUR DECISION

I ALREADY PAID ATTENTION TO THE ALERT AND GOT OUT.

May God bless you.

So sorry but things continue to be par for the course.

It will only change after the Great Tribulation when Yeshua establishes His 1,000 year reign: Empire No. 9 (Nothing to do with Star Wars)

But many will suffer the first and second death.

Some will govern with Yeshua for the 1,000 years and will not suffer the second death.

HOW ABOUT YOU?
