  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Does it occur to you that the churches you are railing against believe that they have obeyed Christ and sought him diligently just as sincerely as you do?

Thinking you're on the right track doesn't mean you are on the right track...find and hold onto the Truth.
Remember the sheep and the goats...even some of those who had prophesied in His name did not make it to heaven...scary thought, I know. This is why we must not be cavalier about allowing heresy enter the church in the name of "let's just all get along". Remember also the arrogance of King Saul, his actions lost him the Kingdom.

I'm saying we aren't simply fundamentalists that don't understand the evolutionist "story telling". And CalTech is the toop institute in America and going there means knowing and competing with not only other top scientists in our nation, but in the world...
What's your appeal? You have no logic in your arguments...your own arguments and those of others.

I'm not enamoured with the "CalTech is great, your argument is invalid" nonesense.

I have listened to a lot of "objections" here, and I do get a sense that most people have a poor understanding of evolution.

I have degrees from the University of Toronto and Oxford, but it doesn't elevate me to some God-like entity. The majority of people that go to university are of average intelligence.

You can be trained to the PhD level in evolutionary biology and be a Genesis 1 creationist. That wouldn't challenge the validity of evolution. I don't underestimated the discriminating powers of mind. The "logic" you appeal to is argument by authority. No, I don't care if your husband is a scientist trained at CalTech.

I'm not impressed.

That wasn't Darwin's sequel to Origin.
I agree -- it wasn't.

So who do you think I think the real author of, The Preservation of Favoured Races, and My Struggles is?

Then why make false claims?

So who do you think I think the real author of, The Preservation of Favoured Races, and My Struggles is?

I don't know what you think. You tell me.

Have you read the book? Darwin never said that evolution was Godless or directionless.
Was talking about the ignorance and audacity of Darwin in titling his book "Origin of Species". It of itself says I am so arrogant as to offer an alternative to what you now know...God as the Creator. And it concludes nothing as origins...implications are great as we now know...his theories gave full bloom to atheists.

You didn't answer my question. Have you read the book?

You know well that I am not trying to simply impress, that is a very naive reading of my answer, but to say I am not shutting up my ears in ignorance...it's out of faith! My husband's credentials are not my own...I'm saying CalTech IS where people of the highest caliber attend to study hard science and are surely exposed to all the arguments...we are not naive people. And we have entertained and employed those horrible people at Discovery Institute! They are quite brilliant.

Not with recollection of the material...believe it was shoved at me as a student. Am not making that point and you were mis-connecting dots.
I am not misconnecting anything. You were speaking of how the book was mistitled. If you haven't read it you can't make that comment. If you read it as a student then you anre certainly entitled to make such a comment.

I certainly do have the right to say it is mistitled b/c I've read a book since about Darwin's book and that the study of origins in University sprung from just such a gap...already mentioned this however.

That's something different. If you read the book you can judge it for yourself. Nothing wrong with that. Those who have never read it but make negative comments about it based on something else that they heard or read are in the wrong.

The science field has set aside Darwin's book when it comes to origins...and yes, I now recall the study of Darwin and his book, but I was young and not scholarly...I was drilled on all his quasi-theorems/postulations

"The science field has set aside Darwin's book", what does that even mean?
