Why are so many protestants anti-Catholic and/or anti-Orthodox

Well, what exactly do you think Jesus says about the wide and narrow gates?

Matthew 7:13-14

"Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:"

"Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it." (KJV)

“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it." (NIV)

“Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few." (ESV)

“You can enter God’s Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way. But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it." (NLT)

This is what you said:

So, in light of what Jesus says about what happens to those who take the "wide road", (as you said Protestants have done) what does Jesus say is going to happen to them?

My "imagination" hey?

But, by all means, if you did not in fact mean that Protestants are going to hell, please tell me what you did mean by accusing them of taking the" wide road", and what you think is actually going to happen to those who do so. Because of you don't believe those who take the wide road (or gate) are going to hell or "destruction", then you disagree with Jesus.

The 'Narrow' gate is not easy to follow. The 'wide' gate is easy to follow. Simples.

Some people like to choose the easiest route. Being a Catholic can prove to be one of hardship and cross bearing due to all the hate and abuses thrown at us down the centuries. Jesus did say that following him would not be easy!

Some 'religions' or 'denominations' were formed because the 'True' path of 'Jesus', the CC, was just too demanding for them! Thus, they went looking for an easier ' wider' gate!

Do people who kneel with their Bibles and bow while reading them 'worship' those 'Bibles?'

That depends, if they adore the physical, material book and hold it up in adoration, then possibly, yes.

But the Bible is not just a book and the words written on the pages are far more than just words on a page.

God's word is a primary revelation to us, as through it, we come to know Him.

What about the rest of what Jesus said? You know, the consequences of entering the "wide" gate, as opposed to the "narrow" one?

Jesus did say that, but He was NOT speaking about the Catholic Church only. He was speaking about ALL who believe in and follow Him.

And as for "hate and abuses" thrown at the Catholic Church, what about all the "hate and abuses" perpetrated by the Catholic Church?

The truth is that being a Christian (an obedient follower of Christ) is to walk the narrow road. It is not about being Catholic, Lutheran, Anglican, Methodist, Baptist, Pentecostal etc.

Some 'religions' or 'denominations' were formed because the 'True' path of 'Jesus', the CC, was just too demanding for them! Thus, they went looking for an easier ' wider' gate!

Wrong. Do you know why the reformation actually took place?

Do you think that standing up to the abuses and corruption in the Catholic Church was "looking for an easier, wider gate?"

If so, you dismiss and trivialize the horrendous suffering and murder of thousands of Christians at the hands of the Catholic Church. Christians who chose obedience to God above obedience to mankind, even though it cost them their lives.

There is the Ark of the Covenant, and the Bronze serpent to name a couple.

No, I already discussed some of this. That's not the same thing at all.

And to be more specific, we should look to the New Testament (New Covenant) as well. The way we are able to approach God has changed since Jesus' sacrifice for our sins.

Most people never approach God.
They never seek Him directly like Jesus says to, probably.

AFTER finding Him, or Him finding us (as He pleases), why bother with other nick-nacks even ?!? - nick-nacks that may usually detract from and may prevent personal union with the Father Yhwh ? (even just from preventing people from seeking Him directly like Jesus says ?)

I agree that relics and material things can indeed be a distraction and can cause us to take our eyes of Jesus, our Saviour.

So the persecution and murders done by the Catholic Church is open to "interpretation?"

Not just murders but some of the worst tortures ever thought of for as little as being found with a bit of scripture .. And then claiming in the authority of Jesus . I know the interpretation . I'd rather side with the tortured and murdered any day than approve a church that did approve and execute it . T

Yes. I know. I was simply asking another member this question because they mentioned persecution against the Catholic Church, but didn't want to address the persecutions done by the Catholic Church. (And just in case anyone thinks that I believe the Catholic Church is the only church to have done such things, I don't).

They completely depend and rely on man's interpretation over and above and instead of God's Word.

That's why they kicked Luther and Chiniquoy out, and many many others,
and
why only deceived protestant and other congregations, each on its own, ever joins the world council of churches.(a long, long list).

I do wonder why church tradition is put above the Bible in the Catholic Church, and why many Protestants are accused of "Sola Scriptura", like that's a terrible thing.

We must be careful and pray for discernment.
This will sound odd at first, possibly,
but no, don't pray for discernment. (look up "discernment" in Scripture - they never pray or ask for discernment, I think... but follow along here ...)
The disciples walked with Jesus. He taught them and answered their questions , as ABBA directed Jesus to do.
After being "born again", remember, peace, joy, and righteousness along with eternal life are given .
LIkewise,
living in union with Jesus, daily, every day, every night, every moment.... (learning what is meant literally "pray without ceasing" - abiding (remaining with ) Jesus and the Father, ) ...

i.e. 'discernment' is granted from the Father, a sheer gift with LIFE in JESUS -
babies understand it, or rather "experience" this quite 'normal' IN JESUS --
or
perhaps better understood like this >>>>>
who guards the sheep ?

WHO does the sheep listen to , ALL THE TIME?

The sheep stay alert for the Shepherd's Voice, all the time. HIS SHEEP HEAR HIS VOICE, all the time.

This is as it is written in God's Word.

This is as it is written in God's Word.

"If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him." (James 1:5)

We are to ask God for wisdom (which would obviously give us discernment)

"Give your servant therefore an understanding mind to govern your people, that I may discern between good and evil, for who is able to govern this your great people?” (1 Kings 3:9)

Solomon's prayer for wisdom that would allow him to "discern between good and evil."

"And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in real knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve the things that are excellent, in order to be sincere and blameless until the day of Christ..." (Philippians 1:9-10)

Paul's prayer for the church, that they would have "real knowledge and all discernment."

So, let me ask, why do you think it's unBiblical to ask for discernment? God's people are called to seek wisdom and understanding, those things that will allow us to discern good and evil.

I'm not saying this is done apart from Scripture by the way, but there is nothing wrong with asking God to give you understanding and the ability to discern what is from God and what isn't.

THis is a common way of thought and questions, as expected, and it
is mildly difficult to explain ---
the simplest is this : seeking the gifts, any or all of the gifts, that God gives,
without abiding in Him, without being totally devoted to Him and obedient to Him, every day,
is where the failure occurs.
People generally seek these things "to be right" about something, or "to do it right" or "to 'KNOW' it "
without
ever
this
> 20 I have been crucified with Messiah, and I live, yet no longer I, but Messiah lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh, I live by faith toward the Son of YAHWEH, the One loving me and giving His life on my behalf.
and
without
ever DOing things already told them, already written, already known to DO.
Thus
the gift or gifts, benefit not at all, with LIFE ....
and with LIFE,
so much more is DIVINE Experiential Knowledge and Wisdom and Truth - literally living "IN UNION WITH JESUS"....
so
as a child walking with his father just simply listens to father
and asks directly "what's that" or "what's this" directly of the father..... and father answers directly...

always totally and completely in harmony and in perfect orchestration with all of HIS WORD.

He doesn't give us bits and pieces to make our own way..... (that's another way to say it).

I think you've misunderstood me. I never said that prayer for discernment should be done outside of a relationship with God. Obviously I know a relationship with God is essential, but the Bible makes it clear that we are still to pray and seek Him.
