  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Sorry you feel this way, I simply detest condescension and if you think I was...forgive me! As far as "finding God"...that's what believers do....why are you here?

Notice that this is the Creation & Evolution subforum of the Physical & Life Sciences forum. If you don't want to talk science and just want to preach about how you feel better as a Christian, then you're in the wrong part of the forum. If you want to talk science, then you can stay.

Sure, it is all over the internet, just Google Peter Stoner or The probability of Jesus based on completed prophecies .
No, that's not how supplying evidence works. I will not do your work for you. If you present a claim, it behooves you to provide quotes or links, or preferably both, to back up your claim.

The exact date? Goodness! What is the exact date the Bible said the walls fell, and how did the archaeologists find that exact date when they dug the site? And did they find evidence that the walls had been brought down by music?
Present your evidence if you have any. Don't expect me to do the work for you. Of course no one has ever proven the Bible to be wrong in 3500 years. But it does not hurt to try because if you put a littl effort in then you will see how accurate the Bible is.

I suppose that could be interpreted as dodging the question because you don't know the answer, but I'm too generous to suppose that. I think you really are interested in honing my historical skills. Jolly decent of you.

I do not know why people seem to think they have the right to ask me endless questions. They can do a google search and do all their own research. Even If I do their homework for them the only think I get out of it is insulted. So why should I bother trying to help people that are dysfunctional and intolerant and only want to go around insulting people and trying to belittle them? I mean really, I am asking an honest question here, I want to know why.

Is there evidence for the Exodus from Egypt
You should get your hands on this video - it might open your eyes! Then take a look at Evolution's Achilles' Heels (see the official trailer here) and these excellent DVDs on astronomy, presented by Spike Psarris which demonstrate the absurdity of the so-called "Big Bang." If you want some humour in the mix, you might also like to watch this and this. Evolution? - Nah - it's just a fairy tale? Big Bang origin of the universe, likewise. Life from lifeless chemicals? - more of the same drivel. Believe it if you will, but I don't buy it. Dr Gary Parker for instance, is much more clever than I could ever hope to be and he no longer believes in evolution, so if he's not convinced then I certainly am not.

And that is not an answer, AT ALL, to his question.
He asked: Is there evidence for the Exodus from Egypt? (And I'm bolding it to make sure you don't miss it)

These are the walls of Jericho that we read about in the Bible. This is evidence that the Walls of Jericho existed. They really did fall as the Bible says because they are still there on the ground today. (Joshua 6:1-27, the walls of Jericho fell) Jericho is still there today, one of the Oldest cities still in existence. It has a population of 18,346. They did not rebuild that part of the city so it is still there today for archaeology to study. To verify that the Bible is accurate and true.

Yes, Jericho has a very long history, and its first walls were built as early as about 8000 BC (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wall_of_Jericho). However, it appears that the Bronze Age city of Jericho 'fell in the 16th century at the end of the Middle Bronze Age; the calibrated carbon remains from its City-IV destruction layer dating to 1617-1530 BCE. Notably this carbon dating c. 1573 BCE confirmed the accuracy of the stratigraphic dating c. 1550 by Kenyon.' https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jericho#Bronze-Age .

'Tell es-Sultan remained unoccupied from the end of the 15th century to the 10th-9th centuries BCE, when the city was rebuilt.' https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jericho#Iron_Age .

The bible-archeology website says that the town was destroyed when it was occupied by the Egyptians in 1580 BC, and that mass graves outside the wall may provide evidence of this Egyptian conquest - http://www.bibe-archaeology.info/bible_city_jericho.htm

The archaeological date for the destruction of Jericho is about 300 years before the 13th-century date implied by the book of Joshua, and 'scholars are virtually unanimous that the book of Joshua holds little of historical value' - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Jericho. I'm afraid that this can't be said to prove the truth and accuracy of the Bible.

Of course the skeptics and the scoffers are going to try to cover the truth. That is what they do.

Yes there is evidence. The skeptics and the scoffers do all they can to hide and conceal the evidence.

Yeah, here's the thing though. You keep saying "yes, there is evidence." Then you just leave it. And when asked to show it, you just handwaive it off with some comment like "Oh, I've already told someone else. Go and find it."
Just saying that there is evidence, doesn't make it so.

I present evidence ALL the time. Then the skeptics and the scoffers put a HUGE amount of EFFORT into trying to falsify that evidence. They always FAIL, yet they never seem to stop trying. For me it is just a waste of time because the skeptic and scoffers always fail to prove the evidence to be wrong.

No. No-one fails to falsify the evidence you present. It's just that the evidence is complete bunk. You have been proven wrong time and again, by Christians, atheists and everything in between. You just suffer from a really severe case of cognitive dissonance.
And actually TRY to reply to the whole message this time, instead of just ignoring bits and only focusing on one little sentence.

It seems to be a game that they like to play, even though there have never once accomplished their stated objective. I have never seen a people that enjoy losing so much as the skeptics and the scoffers.

Astrophile had an excellent post demonstrating why your Jericho argument was complete nonsense and your only reply was "Of course skeptics will try to cover the truth" Even though he referenced the research.

It's the backfire effect too. Where the more facts and evidence you present that demonstrates they are wrong, they will believe their claims even more.

Cognitive dissonance. Or is it confirmation bias? I often get them mixed up.

You answered my question about evidence for the Exodus by pointing to the destruction of Jericho, as recorded in the book of Joshua. I didn't reject this evidence, but presented counter-evidence that suggests that Jericho was destroyed by the Egyptians about 300 years before the Exodus.

You shouldn't deal with this counter-evidence merely by saying that sceptics and scoffers are trying to cover the truth; you ought to present more evidence to confirm your original statements.
