Will they market Thalidomide as a prenatal wonder drug again?

(Please answer this. There's a very good reason for asking.)

If they discover that it has beneficial effects before they discover that it has harmful effects, perhaps.

What, may I ask, is your reason for asking?

LOL

Can't remember now.

It's slipped my mind.

Old age, I guess!

They will when they stop listening to the scientists and start listening to the marketing executives again... so, yes, inevitably.

Oh, really? Pascal's wager? That's a terrible argument.

Can you really disprove Zeus? Of course you can't. So maybe you better worship him, just in case! Now do you see how bad that argument is?

No, it is an honest question we should all be willing to ask ourselves.

True. So we should go with what science can show. We should go with what can be tested, repeated and verified. That is, we should go with science.

Well, you are free to do so, but science is constantly changing and discarding what it once said was absolutely true, so I will not be putting my faith in science.

Also, many things are outside of the realm of science, this doesn't mean they are not real. Not all truth can be found in a science experiment.

You seem to be under the impression that a person's idea about reality is the same as reality itself. It is not.
As I said truth is truth, regardless of a person's perceptions. Our perceptions are often very limited.

No.

Why would it? (Just an honest question)

Well, because if God is real and you deny His existence, then that will have devastating consequences.

If I walk out of my house and a meteorite falls on my head, then that will have devastating consequences as well. Should I worry about that, too?

Well, I wasn't speaking of things that may happen in this life. No, I wouldn't say you should worry about anything and everything that could go wrong. Although I will admit that I do struggle with this, mostly due to my anxiety disorder. I try to remember Jesus' words regarding not worrying about everyday life.

They that don't know the past are condemned to repeat it, aren't they?

So? The fact people are protective of it does not mean that it is true.

People can hold falsehoods very dear. People can be brought together by falsehoods. Just ask the Heaven's Gate cult members.

Perhaps you should be grateful that God has called so many to change their bad behaviors. God doesn't call many high and mighty folks, mostly just us bums. Ann Landers once observed that "the church is a hospital for sinners, not an edifice for Saints." You and other atheists clearly have no spiritual needs, thus God hasn't called you to repentance.

HOWEVER, due to their efforts, we now can enjoy their byproducts.

Slinkies, yo-yos, Gumby, Silly Putty, and who knows what all else?

And Tang, don't forget about Tang. :yum:

I'm not worried about the next life either, although sometimes I do struggle in my faith, I try to remember that it's not about me and that I can't save myself, so I need to trust God.

So we both agree not to worry about the next life, albeit for different reasons. Seems fair to me.
