When you were struggling to figure out your behaviors, I suggested autism to you. When you needed help fixing your vehicle, I made a modest contribution. I might be habitually "clueless", but I do try to help. If there's something that you think I need to know I wish you'd say it rather than just resort to rude off-the-cuff comments. I get that it was 3am everything that goes with 3am and I get that you're battling some heavy anxiety, but I still think you can do better. If I'm wrong, (and I could be wrong) please teach me.

Seriously, we need to be moving on Mike. If you see something, we do not need to comment on it. I'm okay with being a jerk- bully. I wear it well. I take the hit, now move it on, keep it moving. I thought OBOB was now supposed to be the traditional forum, or at least traditional in the sense of "not self-identifying as liberal" (or whatever the other Catholic forum is identified as; I wasn't even aware there are three now). But maybe "Traditional Catholicism" and "traditional Catholicism" are different things. I don't know.

One thing that's absolutely ridiculous about the current OBOB is that you only have to say "I support Church Teaching" and then you are free to say whatever you would like from that point.

If you quote what the Church actually said about something in here you get attacked for it, especially when it's something that the Church said about abortion or homosexuality.

but we should also support our brothers and sisters in Christ
if your ONLY role is Devil's advocate then you really are not contributing a lot, you are just attacking the people you should be helping

He was always somehow to the defense of a certain person with a massive persecution complex, no matter where, no matter how small the issue was, he was there. It's pretty impossible to believe he knew nothing. The people I consistently see you say are sincere are in all actuality the most backstabbing and manipulative people here.

How is this any different than anywhere else?

The big difference is that here we have a policy that posters are not meant to oppose Church teaching. However, in practice all that a poster needs to do is signal his support of Church teaching generally, and then he has carte blanche to advocate any position after that. It is impossible to call someone out on this behavior, since such claims can and will be reported for "flaming," since any such discussion necessarily involves the poster.

So someone can spend all day talking about how the traditional arguments to support some Church teaching are terrible, that the arguments used by the opponents of that teaching are exceptional, that most people think that the teaching is stupid and outdated, and so on and so on, generally making the argument that there is no reason why any reasonable person could possibly support the teaching, but that person can always save himself by appending "but I support the teaching" (even though he has explained why no reasonable person could possibly support the teaching.)

If this was a board with no ideological restrictions it might be different.

I only have two observations and probably they don't matter.
1. Bully is as bully does. And a lot of us, myself included, have been bullies. Some of us seem to thrive on it and whine the loudest about everybody else.
2. Someday someone may drop in here while they are considering converting to the Church. If they see this forum as representative of the people in the church, they will run the other direction. And shame on us for that.

I will say that in the past we have marriages from here, so many converts that we had catechumenate adoption where people had members to answer questions during conversion.

I said to someone the other day I am glad I am a cradle Catholic because if looking for knowledge on Catholicism if I came to OBOB I would run screaming. And that is not because of one side but the general vibe anymore.

Hopefully that changes.

Who do you "constantly" see me call sincere and what are some specific examples of their backstabbing? I think you're sincere. I really believe that what you display is exactly who you are.

And you think there was only one group? On one side? Remember in the first posts in the first thread on this...I said no one side was alone in this and there were multiple groups.

I came here before I converted and still a protestant. But I quickly learned that it was best not to return till the conversion process was over. And that is what I did. Some things are too important to wrangle over on a messageboard. I came back when I was Catholic and still struggled with some people. I was asked to be sn EMHC by my priest and got absolutely raked over the coals for it. This is nothing new. OBOB has always had a problem with witness. Even in the golden days of the forum.
