  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Having sexual thoughts is not wrong at all, but natural. Sexuality is a big part of our human being and this is not a shame at all! Denying a part of our being is wrong, and even dangerous. Thoughts are not acts. You have to learn how to control your body and how to control your thoughts, like every adult does: nothing wrong in all that. Every being has to control its passions and feelings to live quietly.
If you imagine yourself and an another man on your wedding night, then you should truly worry for the future of your marriage. Sexuality is a big part of a successful marriage and if you already ignore your husband after your first night together...
When it comes to a fictional character... When having a crush and compassion for a non real character is totally normal (I do it all the time, especially when I read/watch the Lord of the Rings...), forgetting that a character is a character (a projection of a distorted or subjective reality) is wrong: it prevents you for discovering how true and real are the people around you. Not good if you are looking for any kind of relationships.

Depends. Poetry often talks about detailed sexuality, but in a beautiful and sensitive way. Nothing to do with basic lust, as it gives to sexuality its pure beauty, poetry, melody.
Theater of the Antiquity also talks a lot of sex, but not always with the same delicate side. Can be funny, but not really edifying.
Now if you are talking about 50 shades of Grey this is surely a different thread. That book, as a commercial thing, plays with the naivety of young girls to describe an objectification of the woman, submitted to a dominant male, by portraying an easy sexuality which only causes lust (no artistic or intellectual interest. No, I don't like that book at all)
It depends on you. If you know yourself enough to know what can be interesting or not.

Then is it also wrong so read books that have very detailed sexual scenes?
Yes, yes it is. Especially since you are not married. If you did it with yours huband/wife, then it would be a different case, but since you're single, you are feeding your mind with images that will only cause you to lust. The more you lust, the more the urge to touch. Simple as 1,2, and 3.

Masturbation is iffy. I don't believe there is a verse in Scripture that expressly forbids it, but given its close ties with lust I'd avoid it if at all possible. We all have sexual desires, but you must keep yourself from lust. And masturbation opens a huge window for lust to come in. You might start innocently enough, thinking you're just releasing steam, but how long before you start thinking about real people, maybe even people in relationships, and lusting after them in your heart?

Is masturbation wrong. Is it wrong to imagine a male(has no identity) and yourself on your wedding night? Is it totally wrong to have taught about a fable chracter (from a book)? Is it totally bibically wrong to have sexual taughts?

This video may answer your questions, less than 10 minutes long...
