Trust me you're not in any trouble because you said a cuss word you are giving the devil way too much credit if the devil had all this power then every car on the freeway would be crashing into each other all airplanes would be falling out of the sky killing everyone Jesus defeated the devil. People look for the devil behind every tree or every situation for every bad thought Focus your attention on how much your lord and savior loves you he loves you so much that he came and died for you so just relax and live your life and enjoy it now I suggest you get some of Joseph princes books his first two books will really help you destined to reign

So you spoke in tongues without knowing what it meant? Hmmm...

Um, odd comment, this one above....

You know what i'm worried about.
You're looking for signs and empowerment.
It's your religious paradigm.

Just ask yourself sometime, what good is it to speak things you do not understand yourself?

We can agree to disagree, i won't be commenting here anymore, unless you quote me.

God bless.

When the apostles were in the upper room and the Holy Spirit fell on them as fire, could you show me somewhere in scripture that they understood this themselves?

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but I do not have love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.
1 Cor 13:1 (NET)

Tongues. Sometimes they are human language; sometimes they are of angels.

If we look in the book of Acts we see that Peter stood before men of differing nations (differing languages) and each of them heard Peter in their own language. So it was not Peter who was speaking in those human languages, but rather the hearers who were hearing in different languages. What do you think?

I believe He is Jesus Christ = God: John 1
You know, Trinity, Godhead (YHWH Elohim), who became a Man, Son of man.

Good to be talking here with fellow Christians. :)
I'll get my agreement with you in here. 100% agree here.

I think it's odd to say things you don't understand yourself.
If you are speaking in tongues you certainly do not understand what you say. The Holy Spirit does. He is guiding this kind of prayer/speaking.

The Promise God makes lies in Heaven, not in the here and now in the flesh.

28 Peter began to speak to him, "Look, we have left everything to follow you!" 29 Jesus said, "I tell you the truth, there is no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for my sake and for the sake of the gospel 30 who will not receive in this age a hundred times as much - homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children, fields, all with persecutions - and in the age to come, eternal life. 31 But many who are first will be last, and the last first."
Mark 10:28-31 (NET)

Here, as an example, is a promise of God for those who forsake all and follow Jesus. Now the promise is (and certainly this is not a literal hundred times mothers and children, et. al.) that we shall have abundance of things like homes, fields, etc., that have...what?...significance in Heaven? Further this verse clearly, at the beginning of verse 30, says that we shall have this promise "in this age." Yes, the here and now in the flesh.

Let me give you another one:

14 And this is the confidence that we have before him: that whenever we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. 15 And if we know that he hears us in regard to whatever we ask, then we know that we have the requests that we have asked from him.
1 Jn 5:14-15 (NET)

Do you think God always waits until we are in Heaven to answer our prayers that are asked in His will?

Don't chase signs and wonders, even though they're attractive, is what i wanted to say when i read your post about tongues and the wish for 'empowerment'.
Amen! Good advise.

Jesus says: I want you to LOVE eachother.
He gave an example: The story of the good Samaritan.
And double Amen to this!!

I think it's odd to say things you don't understand yourself.

For the one speaking in a tongue does not speak to people but to God, for no one understands; he is speaking mysteries by the Spirit.
1 Cor 14:2 (NET)

Who understands? No one. The speaking is mysteries by the Spirit (in this case).

What the OP has related regarding speaking in tongues, followed by an interpretation, sounds perfectly Biblical to me.

He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the church.
1 Corinthians 14:4

(26) How is it then, brethren? Whenever you come together, each of you has a psalm, has a teaching, has a tongue, has a revelation, has an interpretation. Let all things be done for edification.
(27) If anyone speaks in a tongue, let there be two or at the most three, each in turn, and let one interpret.
(28) But if there is no interpreter, let him keep silent in church, and let him speak to himself and to God.
1 Corinthians 14:26-28

Tongues and interpretation of tongues are two seperate gifts of the spirit. Praying in tongues, without interpretation, is a means of edifying oneself. Whereas, tongues with interprutation, is similar to a Word of Knowledge, which can edify the church (or a single recipient).

I heartily recommend Joseph Prince's teaching - he is an excellent grace preacher. I also recommend various others such as Bertie Brits and Steve McVey.

You might find this Grace Preachers List useful:
http://thedivinenature.blogspot.co.uk/2009/08/grace-preachers-list.html

I went through a similar sense of condemnation as you are going through now, until I came into the grace message, around 10 years ago. My life has never been the same since. I could never, ever go back to that old life of condemnation - it's truely an awful way to live. It amazes me how obsessed with sin, charismatic Christians can be - they can be just as bad as the devil sometimes!

If I was you, I'd consider dropping all the other teaching for a while, even Word of Faith, and just immersing yourself in the grace message. This will form a vital foundation of righteousness in your life, which will draw you closer to God and will protect you from the accusations of the enemy. Oh, and if you continue to feel condemned in this church you're attending - consider leaving.

The devil keeps scaring me that the Lord will not forgive me. He keeps making me think I have to be perfect, and the Lord will not forgive me on judgment day.

Are you ready for some nearly "to good to be true news?"

And the reason why the devil is trying to scare you, as with all Christians, is to (keep you scared) for he knows that ALL of your sins WERE already FORGIVEN the moment you accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior. He just doesn't want you to know this truth.

And! He also knows...

that by the finished works of Christ on the cross, that this (not only) included your past sins, but present and future sins as well. Yes, even the ones you committ tomorrow. Now, as you submit yourself to God, tell the devil that ALL of your sins were already forgiven, and then COMMAND him to flee from from you. The Word says he hast to go! (James 4:7).

Yes, Satan is also a master of deception trying to make Christians think and believe that they have to be perfect while serving God which is impossible (by our selves) and he knows this. But actually, in God's eyes, we are perfect and holy... In Him.

(Hebrews 10:14)
"For by that one offering he forever made perfect those who are made holy."

This is really what the devil doesn't want you to know and believe. There is no condemnation from God for we are perfect and holy in His sight... In Him!

Please get this Adriana. When we stand before the Judgement Seat of Christ, we will be judged only for what we did in Christ while on the earth. Jesus took our deserved judgment of sin by His sacrifice on the cross in our place.

Others have suggested to listen to Joseph Prince and maybe purchase his book "Destined To Reign." I am on by fourth reading myself. Excellent book on Grace. I would also include the teachings of Andrew Wommack on "The Gospel Truth" that airs daily in most areas of the country.

That's the "to good to be true news" of His Grace... Underserved, unmerited, and unearned favor to us by believing and receiving. We welcome ALL to the Word-of-Faith forum. Please read our Statement of Faith and review our beliefs.

Be Blessed...

No I don't think you understand , I was rebuking the devil and I accidentally said I rebuke the holy spi*** . It was horrifying ! And the Lord said we say what's in our hearts ... So I'm confused cause I would never say that, ever, but I did on accident. I really feel like the devil is trying to hang me up on that. Or I'm doomed for hell. I'm not sure.

Also I'm at a conference! I'm with women from my church and it's amazing ! Last night they called up anyone who hasn't spoken in tongues or hasn't in awhile. So I went up, and got prayer and spoke in tongues again, and it sounded almost exactly like the last time I spoke in tongues. So that was amazing and encouraged me. The only thing is, is that I pray the Holy Spirit would guide me when I'm reading my Bible and give me understanding of the Bible and for some reason that's not happening. So it makes me think that he left me and I'm doomed, even though I'm seeking Him. I don't know... I'm confused.

Confess that u r a new creature as Jesus died for u. Keep confessing.
Why would she keep confessing?
Salvation cannot be earned,it is by Grace through faith.
The simple fact that she feels condemnation is a sign she has salvation.

For those in Christ who sin, confess it, quit it, and forget it.

Your not doomed for hell,God is greater than any old trick satan can throw at you.
God knows your heart, and you simply misquoted,if that will take you to hell we are all doomed.
The un pardoned sin was a purposed act of hate against God,by men who worshiped their own idea of God rather than God.
They were of their father the devil, and without excuse.
They knew the God of Abraham but had chosen to worship the God of pride the devil.

Romans chapter 1 will shed some light on who these religious hypocrites were.

I wonder how many times praying in the Spirit is mentioned in the New Testament as well singing in the Spirit?
I know through reading it is mentioned more than once.

Here's is one Jude: 1. 20. But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, 21. Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. - Bible Offline

Sin is revived when trust is on the moral law - ml as well, rather than on Jesus alone-rom7:9. when ml is renounced sin is dead-rom7:8. Without renouncing ml, sinning & sin confession becomes a regular process.
