If the kingdom of heaven is within man, then why do we think of it as being after death?
It is within the grasp of mans Spirit which can reach outside the limitations
of this physical realm. But it is not here.

If the kingdom of heaven is within man...
It is not,
so the question is moot.
Why do you agree with one scripture and disagree with another scripture?
Matthew 18:3 And he said: "Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like children
you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.
New International Version
Jesus told them another parable: "The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field.
Matthew 13:44 "The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a
Matthew 13:33 He told them still another parable: "The kingdom of heaven is like yeast that a
woman took and mixed into about sixty pounds of flour...
Matthew 13:47 "Once again, the kingdom of heaven is like a net that was let
down into the lake and caught all kinds of fish. ...
Matthew 13:31 He told them another parable: "The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard
seed, which a man took and planted in his field. ...
Matthew 13:45 "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls...
Matthew 20:1 "For the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went out early
in the morning to hire workers for his vineyard.
NOT IN MAN!
That doesn't answer the question. I'm detecting a pattern with you.
... why do we think of it as being after death?
Why do you agree with one scripture and disagree with another scripture?
1. There is an argument that kingdom of Heaven should be better translated as Reign of Heaven, so it makes better sense than thinking of it in spatial terms.
2. Time is an aspect of space as physics tells us. Therefore all time could possibly exist and our consciousness moves between time planes, but is in effect in all timeplanes at once, the current one we occupy just happen to appear as the present to us. In this analogy then, our dead selves in 'heaven' ie communing with the timeless God, would thus see our consciousness in all these different planes and as already in the Kingdom of Heaven, essentially it is within us and after we die. (Unless you hold to soul sleep)
3. Heaven as a kingdom would have subjects outside of it, as an Englishman travelling abroad remains under the Rule of the Crown and thus as a part of the United Kingdom even when not in it. Therefore, again within as an aspect of our Christianity and without as a destination.
Take your pick.

I think I know this one. Is it because scripture repeatedly contradicts itself? Why do you agree with one scripture and disagree with another scripture?
