  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

LDS Why do Mormons think all Christians are in apostasy?

I also have another question

how does marriage come into the whole equation of eternal salvation

I read in one of the articles about Romneys, if I remember correctly, it seem to suggest Mormons need to be married in order to be in level 1 afterlife?

does Mormon believes in marriage in afterlife?

in your answers, you said on level 1, you allowed to bring family, and on level 2 and 3, you can be single and happy

so does that mean one is allowed to continue enjoy the relationships of being married in L 1 but not L 2 and L 3?

also does divorce and remarriage impacts on one's ability to get into level 1 as well?

Travel asked; ...equation of eternal salvation

In my own understanding there is salvation from sin, this is obtained by accepting Jesus Christ as your savior and entering into the waters of baptism to have your sins washed away. Then there is the receiving of the Gift of the Holy Ghost by the laying on of hands.

" Enter ye in at the strait gate...Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it." Matt 7

Baptism is the gate and now the path way to eternal Life lays before us. On that path way the most important thing we can learn is Christ like love. If I have faith to move mountains but hath not charity I am nothing. One of the blessings received for attempting to follow the path is the promise of having an eternal family and being sealed in the Temple of God.

Yes we believe in Eternal Families, "neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord", 1Cor 11. Those couples who are sealed in the Holy Temple create a new eternal family, they do their genealogy and seal their families back as far as they can find.

Paul who understood baptism of the dead also said in Eph 1-3

"Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:
That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him.....And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ:....According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord.... For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named"

We are in the fulness of times right now and the gathering of the family of heaven and earth has commenced, that's why we build temples.

I don't know that we have a full understanding of what conditions will be like in the two lower Kingdoms except that everyone will achieve an amount of happiness.

On another thread there were several Mormon's vehemently objecting to videos posted showing their religious temple practices. They were insisting they be removed. But here when the the Jewish World Congress bans baptizing dead Jews the Mormon church ignores it. The saying about stones and glass houses come to mind......maybe even do unto others.....

Actually that is not true. With the new computer systems they can track whose doing what, my genealogy goes back into the 1500s and it's all on line. The Church can and does keep track of every baptism done. They have threatened to pull the temple recommend of anyone who touches a Jewish name there is a big block on it. There is a very strict rule that you only do your own lines. Now there are Jews who have joined the Church and they are free to do their own family lines.

You have to ignore Matthew 22: 23-33 to assume the concept of "Eternal Families" is correct (which it is not).
The rest of your verse quotes require severe twisting of scripture to fit your practices.

If it is true what you say, why was my uncle who is now my aunt, excommunicated from the Church because of this reason? Why no one was allowed to talk to her? Why she got the bishop banned when she dressed as a woman (the German transsexual law requires it), the LDS Church wanted to visit? And why should she have no contact with their children? The did not want her wife who wanted the bishop!
Excommunication does not mean son of perdition

There are many levels in each kingdom. It is the highest level of the celestial kingdom or as you put it level 1. Family members have to be on the same wave length to be together.

thanks

so the spiritual death you talked about earlier

that only applies to those who are casted out into the darkness?

since you mentioned in level 2 and level 3 you still get to hang around Jesus?
Only those who have no glory will be cast into darkness which very few qualify for

My experiences with the church and its members, as a Mormon and ex-Mormon woman is; have that Mormon difficulties with criticism of their faith. They displace, conceal, often deceive themselves and others, just to be in the right.
This begins with their leaders Joseph Smith and Brigham Young, who denied their Participations in crime. This continues with the decades of denial of the LDS involvement in the infamous Mountain Meadows massacre, or the suicides of homosexuals. And it continues today by molesters are still covered by the church leaders and the victims blamed for it. Here is an interesting article about this:

Well, we are all spiritually dead before we accept God. Everyone will be resurrected from the death (to various extents) except for those cast into darkness.

1) Father, Son, & Spirit
2) Son, & Spirit
3) Spirit only

WonderingAwe talked about this, a very good response.

I’ll see if I can add to it a little—
Mormons believe at the very most glorious state (remember, we’re talking a spectrum, even within 1, 2, & 3), righteous men and women have a chance to be sealed together as spouses. Additionally, their children have the opportunity to be sealed with them. Some more info: http://www.mormonnewsroom.org/article/sealing

Again, God is infinitely fair, so no one is denied the opportunity to find a righteous spouse in the eternities, including if the person was not about to find a spouse in this life & if a person’s Earthly spouse did not honor their marriage oath to God.

so does that mean one is allowed to continue enjoy the relationships of being married in L 1 but not L 2 and L 3?
Correct. The eternal loving bond between requires the most charitable souls (you can’t hold anything back).

Did I cover all your questions?

This thread is to get Mormon feedback of why they believe that all Christians are in apostasy to God.
Mormons believe many things that are not true. I do believe there is an apostasy in the church there are many false churches Mormon is one of them. Remember every false church mixes lie withe truth to confuse. Even Satan quoted scripture to Jesus that should be a clue . Best thing to do is study the Bible ask God for truth then you will recognize lies when you see them . LDS is full of them !

Alcohol is not permitted as a Mormon? But Jesus drank wine!

One of the promises Mormons make with God is to abstain from alcohol. This is a new commandment (last 1-2 centuries).

Drinking alcohol now versus in 0 AD is comparing apples and oranges. Before modern sanitation, drinking water was simply asking for a disease, so people drank alcohol (it was very watered down by our standards today). Versus today, water is available and safe to drink, versus alcohol is... frankly more of a social scourge than anything else.

The bible says nothing about a man calling a woman out of the grave in fact the bible says in heaven there is no marriages nobody given in marriage. Bible says all are one, male female Greek Jew slave bond all are one in Christ Jesus. The bible is true and non of what you just said is in it. There is no truth in the Book of Mormon Pearl of great price or d&c people. Jesus said if he didn't teach it don't believe it. Jesus said it is finished. Jesus said the prophets were until John. Everything the morons have added to the Word of God is a lie. Do not fall for it. Get your face in the bible and in prayer for truth! 1st John says with the Holy Spirit you don't need any man to teach you what is true and right the spirit will teach you and is no lie! Believe that! Ask God for truth! Not a Mormon who denies the deity of Christ that Jesus is God come in the flesh to save the world! The believe Jesus is satans brother making him an angel which is a lie! Jesus accepted worship throughout the gospels yet when John tried to worship the angel in revelation he stopped him! Jesus is the perfect lamb without spot or wrinkle! If he accepted worship not being God it would have been sin but he's perfect! Do not fall for these Mormon lies. The only way to get truth is study the bible and ask God for his truth! He will not lie to you if you seek him you will find him he never said let someone else seek him and tell you what they found! You must seek the Lord with heart soul and mind snd you will find him!
